Drivers side door does not latch after rain and a freeze. This has happened 3 times. Today was the first time the passenger side door flew open while driving. It seems to be fixed when the car heats up. There was a recall on other versions of the F-150 for this exact issue but apparently not on this one. It seems to have the same issue.

Vehile is parked outside every night. On some cold mornings, with temperatures below freezing, one or more of the door latches freeze shut. Sometimes the door will not open. The most dangerous thing that happens is that if a door is opened and the latch is frozen, the door will fail to latch closed. You try to close the door and it just bounces off the frame of the car. It will not stay closed. I had to drive my kids to school today with one child holding a door shut the entire time since it would not latch closed. Additionally, at these times, the power locking actuators fail to raise or lower the locking mechanism. This does not happen every time there is freezing weather, but it has happened 10+ times over the past ~2 years. Multiple doors are affected.

There is a known problem with the 2015-2020 model year F150s door latches freezing shut, when in sub freezing temperatures, the door will wildly bounce off the truck frame and open/close on a whim. Usually I have either spent extra time in the mornings idling with the heat on long enough for the latches to melt themselves free, stood outside with a heat gun to evaporate the moisture or in a pinch, had to drive physically holding the door shut with a tow strap. This is on a modern, five year old vehicle mind you. The problem has been, at least on my truck, predominantly always the drivers side and passenger side doors until today when it impacted the rear doors of my crew cab. I drive my children (ages 4 & 5) to daycare and kindergarten every weekday. This morning my daughters door, which was seemingly latched shut and fine, swung wide open while turning. Luckily she was in a car seat and tightly in due to the harness but that is 100% unacceptable, dangerous and ridiculous. These latches are going to get a child killed. My truck was purchased in Clearwater FL and never had an issue the 3 years I lived in a tropical climate. I moved to Ohio, and during the summer, late spring and early fall was fine. As soon as the temperature drops for winter the freezing starts and the doors become dangerous. To my knowledge there are no safety recalls for this issue but a number of worthless -€œfixes-€ offered by Ford, all of which do nothing to rectify the problem. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2015-frozen-door-latch-tsb-recall-updated-thread-435339/index122/

Rear door latch failures in both left and right sides when there are freezing temperatures. Three separate incidents: 12/23/2019 - rear left door latch failure... the door opened, but would not latch when closed. Took to Ford dealership where they applied the 18N03 door latch safety recall service, adding seals, grease, and a clip. 12/28/2019 - just one week after the 18N03 safety recall service, both left and right door latches failed again, where the doors would open but would not latch shut (have recording on iPhone). Temperatures were 33F. Returned to Ford dealership and they replaced both latches under a third-party warranty. 12/21/2021 - both rear left door again would not latch shut in freezing temperatures. Able to latch shut after removing rubber seal from door and blowing hot air in from a hair dryer. Video of issue is on iPhone. 12/29/2021 - called Ford corporate office and spoke with Katelyn. Expressed concerns that the incident is recurring and wanted a permanent solution, given safety concerns. She indicated that she would record the incident in my file but that there is nothing further that Ford is recommending at this point. Will attempt to visit Ford service again to see what they can do, but I remain very concerned given the above history.

Used remote starter; about 2 minutes later my family entered the vehicle with my 2 small kids secured in their child seats in back seat. We left our home, made about 1-mile down the road when back window suddenly popped and shattered. Nothing struck or hit the window to break it. Tiny glass fragments blew onto my children and scared them. The plastic cover on the defroster connection mechanism on the rear center electronic sliding glass window also popped off and the one of the electronic metal connections is clearly broken loose on the mechanism also. No warning messages on dash/display. I did not turn on defroster and rear defroster light was not on at the time, but maybe came on automatically with remote start used. I submitted claim promptly with insurance. Have appointment with Service King for estimate and repair to be made. According to online forums, this unfortunate safety incident with Ford truck and van rear windows has occurred hundreds or thousands of times to Ford owners over the past 10 years.

I started my truck with my remote starter. After letting it run and warm up for a couple minutes, we opened the doors to find cab filled with smoke. I immediately shut off the truck. I than let it air out for a few seconds to see where the smoke was coming from. I seen from standing by driver door it was smoking from behind the rear passenger seat as I run around front of truck to passenger door I hear the rear back window shatter

My safety was put at risk when the the truck would not start after stopping at a light. This happened three times. The last two times on July 18th and August 11th, after shutting off the truck would not restart and the speed limit on each road is 45-55 mph. Police had to come block the road because it was unsafe. The dealer took the vehicle in on Aug 2-6th and advised that it was fixed, only for it to happen again on the 11th. No warning messages were present.

My son, Marine LCpl Ryan McCoy, was driving on I95 in Virginia back to Camp Lejeun when he heard a -€œpop-€ sound. Assuming something was wrong, he pulled over to the breakdown lane. The vehicle began to smoke and the temperature gauge shot up to the hottest it could register. At that time, he turned off the vehicle and exited. He noticed the front of the vehicles so in flames and began to run away from the vehicle and saw the vehicle violently explode. He called 911. Stare Trooper Joseph Worley arrived and he called a tow truck. When the fire went out, the trooper left without checking to see if Ryan was okay or had a ride anywhere. The tow truck dropped Ryan at the nearest rest stop and the tow truck took the vehicle to Interstate Garage.

After 40 mile on the highway drive, I've got off the offramp and came to a red light. While I was stopped my truck started to idle rough for about 10 seconds and finally stalled. No check engine or warning lights appeared other than a notification on the dash screen stating to press brake to start. I then pressed the brake and pushed start and it turned on right away. I then drove in the city for another 20 miles with no problem and then evidently it happened again when I got to a stop. Restarted right away with no secondary issues. I took it to my local dealership. They kept it over night to run tests but there was no success on recreating the problem. Therefore, no repair was made. I do find this situation unsafe due to possible fault occurring at highway speeds or on a hill while driving.

The latch on the doors of the truck does not lock when the temperature gets very cold outside possibly causing any adult or child to fall out of the vehicle while moving or parked, this is a concerned and safety issue for any ages. Also car makes rattle noise and at times shut off and recently having oil leak.is a 2017 it shouldn't have any problems.

Computer systems voice control and manual system controls tied to the computer system in sync3 has a 30-60 sec. Response delay requiring eyes to be taken off the road to answer calls, mute sound, use navigation, among other safety features. This has made the entire system unusable and apparently is a common and known issue with this system. The issue occurs all of the time regardless of being stationary or moving, day and night, in city or on highway, and has many times been a hazard while driving. This has occurred starting in June of 2019 and continues to get worse.

At 62,000 mileage, the ac compressor had to be replaced and belt that I was warned would seize. I am a first responder driving into our nearby mountain range. We dropped off the truck at the santa cruz, ca Ford dealership on Sep 28, 2020 and the job was completed on fri Oct 2, 2020. They said it was fixed. 10 minutes later there was no ac as we drove home. This was during the ca wildfire season and daily aqi checks for health hazards. I brought it back in on mon, Oct 5, 2020, they said their machine was broken and they had to send it out. We had to drive with our children in hazardous wildfire air quality all of October with the windows down. The defrost did not work either properly, blows into face instead, so the weather turned andresulted in me getting dispatches, driving in the dark through the mountains with no defrost windshield function. Hazard. Their machine was fixed Dec 18, 2020 so I brought it in again. It did not work, and the ac and defrost still broken as mechanics determined a connecting part they broke off in attaching the machine to my truck and now had to order that part from detroit. I brought it in Jan 7, 2021 and it was supposedly all fixed. 3 days later no ac or defrost. I work with a sheriff dept who has had this occur to their fleet of F150's this last year, and been given the runaround with supposed fix. They auctioned off their trucks because it was never properly resolved. This seems like a possible Ford part recall, and is a hazard for drivers.

This past week, we had a couple days of 30 deg weather in the Chicago area in the morning and I started experiencing issues with my drivers door. It would not re-latch when I closed the door. Every time I closed the door I heard the infamous "thud" and it bounced back open. This happened over and over. I had to drive 12 miles, while holding my door closed so I can get to work. Eventually it starts working fine as the weather warms up. I understand there is a already a recall and a settlement on this matter for the exact year of my F 150, however my F-150 VIN's is not apart of that. I've contacted Ford and all I got was there's nothing that they are able to do since my VIN is not apart of the recall. So in order to drive my vehicle safely, I need to pay out of pocket. This just proves there's still issues with the door latch system and it is a safety concern.
