I just purchased our truck so the dealership washed it. I parked the truck for about 10 minutes outside in below freezing temperatures and the door latch on the front passenger door would not hold the door shut. The door would just bounce back open when I tried to close it. After playing around with the locks for a while, I was finally able to get the door to close. The following morning, the same thing happened to the rear drivers side door and again the passenger door while parked in my driveway. Taking truck to dealership on Monday to hopefully get it fixed. I've been seeing that this "fix" doesn't always work though.

The driver and passenger doors will not latch. Worked fine when we bought the truck last evening. This morning with temperatures below freezing, doors opened, but then would not close properly. Subsequent research on internet suggests this has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle and is the result of condensation problem freezing door latches. Vehicle is 1 day old. How is Ford allowed to sell me this vehicle?

I bought this veh in warm weather was not advised in cold weather ther doors will freeze up and you can't get into your veh. If the doors do get open they are frozen and the door will not shut. If need for medical reason your in trouble if you work in the woods with on cell service you are in trouble. Ford has had this problem since 2015 and still has not fixed it in the 2019 F-150 pickups I went to the grocrey store the doors were working while in the store the doors froze up. I had to wait till the sun got on the veh to get the doors open. There are pictures of people who get the door open it is locked it won't shut so the bungicord the door shut to get to work. This is on the internet. How can this be safe. How long before Ford is made to fix the problem. They are put grease in the lock but in most case this make the problem worst. Please help

On 2 different occasions the front drivers side door latch on my truck has stuck open and would not allow me to latch the door closed. I have had to drive home both times holding the door shut with my left arm and one hand steering the wheel. When going around turns I had to slow way down because the door weight multiplied with force and got very heavy and hard to stop from flying open..I dont know if the other latches on my truck would have stuck open as I was to afraid to try it and not be able to get them properly latched shut. After doing research online this is a huge wide spread problem with front and rear doors on 2015-2018 F150's and Ford fix is to smear some grease and oil on it and put a cover over the latch has not been a successful fix on any of the vehicles they have done. It is in no doubt a safety issue. If the vehicle was to roll over in an accident and the door wasnt latched it would surely be crushed and possibly come back into the cab injuring a driver or ripped of exposing the driver and or passengers to hazards outside the vehicle. Will the truck fair the same in a head on crash or front overlap crash as tested? I strongly urge whomever to take the time to investigate this issue and make Ford fix this issue.. it is very dangerous and they are not taking it seriously.

Driver's side door wouldn't latch on a cold day. Took it in to dealer, they removed the door panel, removed the moisture that froze up the latching mechanism and lubed the parts. Six days later the door latch froze up again. Couldn't get into the truck. Climbed through the passenger's side and was able to unlock the driver's side door and open it. Then it wouldn't latch closed. Forced the lock down and let the truck sit and went to work. Called dealer to tell them the problem again. Said they would get back to me. Two days later I called and they said my VIN would be put on a recall list and as soon as my truck got okayed, they would order parts to fix the problem. Currently I don't drive my brand new truck because of the door latching problem. Apparently this problem has existed on the 2015-2017 Ford F-150 trucks. There was a recall on lots of those trucks for the same issue. Now my 2018 truck will need fixed under a similar recall as soon as Ford figures out what to do for the fix. I'm not sure how to handle this. I'm pretty disappointed in my new truck with this issue. I have attached a receipt of the work they've done so far. The doors will become unlocked and unlatched when driving. It was cold and I was leaving work. Door would not shut at first. The door finally shut and latched. I pushed the lock button just to be sure. Got on the highway and the door opened. I had to hold my door shut with all my strength while going down a highway. I couldn't leave it on the side of the road without the door shutting. It happened the next morning as well trying to get it to the dealership.

I am experiencing door latch issues on my 2018 Ford F150 supercrew pickup truck. In cold weather, I am able to open the passenger side rear door, but unable to close the door. When I attempt to close the door, it bounces back at me. I am concerned the door is not secure, and can open at any time. The door will subsequently close only after the truck is running with the heat on high for over 30 minutes. This is a great concern for safety as we have to have someone sit in the rear seats and hold the door shut when we experience the issue. This is the second time this winter that this issue has happened, and the issue has been widely documented on the internet. I have opened a case with Ford, and they do not believe the newer F150's are impacted.

Whenever the temperatures dip below freezing, the door latches on the F-150 freeze and no longer latch. The colder it gets, the worse the latches perform. I am forced to drive long distances with a completely unsecured door. It has nearly caused multiple accidents, as when I make a turn the door flies open nearly striking nearby cars. I work 20 miles from home, and have driven 20 full miles with an unsecured door even after having my truck running for upwards of an hour before I leave the house with the heat on high. I have been late for work due to my inability to secure the door that my 2 year old daughter is supposed to be secured by. This is a serious safety concern that Ford Motor Company is not taking seriously enough. I have had my truck in the shop three times now, and they can't seem to get it right. I have contacted Ford directly, they just keep pushing it back on the dealership. The dealership keeps working on it, but they are saying that Ford hasn't given them anything to work with as far as fixing it. I have also contacted the BBB in regards to this vehicle. By all the forums online, and complaints I have seen about these vehicles, I am clearly not the only person. Ford keeps selling these vehicles, and does not disclose this problem with any of the consumers. Then we are forced to drive unsafe vehicles while paying a premium price for them.

Passenger side front door will not latch when cold. Doesn't have to be raining or snowing like previously reported. Parked overnight and when you open the door the latch releases but will not re latch.

The issue I have involves the door latches not functioning properly when outside temperatures are below freezing. Once door(s) have been opened they will not latch when you try to close them. My local Ford dealer has performed tsb 18N03 on all four doors (twice on the drivers side front door) and the problem still exists with the drivers side front door. Vehicle must sit with the heat on for several minutes before latches will function again wasting owners time and gas. There were times that I had no option but to drive the vehicle while holding the door shut because it would not latch. I have a couple of videos to demonstrate the issues but the file size is too large to upload but would be willing to send to someone via email at your request. During my research this appears to be a widespread issue that Ford has not remedied and is a safety concern when one has to hold the door shut while driving.

The door latches on my 2018 Ford F150, when below freezing, frequently freeze, they will open, then not latch shut until I warm the latches with a heat gun, sometimes the doors will appear to close, only to open while the vehicle is in motion. This is very common, and there is a tsb for the issue. Recently, I was traveling on a local highway, and the door that my 8 month old son was sitting at flung open, I immediately pulled over and limped the truck home, unable to get the door closed. I have video of me trying to close that door with my son sitting in his car seat. The following week, I had the same issue with the opposite rear door, which I also got video of. This issue is so common that I previously had a 2016 F150 with the same exact issue, I have videos of myself trying to close the doors on that vehicle, before, and after Ford tried to fix that truck, due to this, and transmission issues on that 2016, I traded it in at a loss for my 2018 F150, which Ford claimed would not have the problems that my previous truck had. I have an appointment with Ford to attempt to fix my 2018 F150, but I am not confident they will be able to fix it, as there are reports that the revised tsb they are using now, also doesn't work. This has been an issue on all 2015+ F150S, and on 2017+ 250S, and 350S, and Ford has been aware of the issue since at least 2015, all aluminum bodied Ford F-series trucks have this problem. These vehicles should not be on the road until a workable fix is developed and deployed.
