  • 10,000 miles
Transmission shifts very harshly from 1st to 3rd on takeoff. It will also clunk and jerk at times shifting from drive to reverse. Driving down highway with cruise on it will rev up from 1400 RPM to 2500rpm like its in neutral and then downshift to 8th gear an not up shift. Message will pop up on dash stating drive modes not available while driving.

  • 13,200 miles
Transmission issue: Intermittent loud bang upon starting the engine. Intermittent rattle during normal acceleration and deceleration. There is also harsh up and downshifts in the vehicle. During normal driving conditions, the vehicle will be up shifting and then it will lose power until it finds the correct gear, when it will then slam into gear. Again these are all intermittent and hard to make happen on demand. On occasion the vehicle will be sitting at a stop light and the transmission will bang into another gear, all while being completely stationary. The vehicle has a 13,200 miles on it, and is currently undergoing an oil consumption survey through the dealership due to the motor burning oil. All of these are ongoing issues that happen on random days and times, while both cold and warm.

Intermittently when accelerating, the transmission hard shifts coming out of 3 and 6th gear, causing the vehicle to suddenly slow down before up shifting. The stumble can be hard enough to cause the seat belt retractor to lock. Repeated visits to the dealer did not resolve the problem. They said that is normal operation.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. While starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the transmission. The contact mentioned the noise stopped after the vehicle was started. In addition, the drive line was turning while in park. The vehicle was taken to kendall Ford of eugene (344 goodpasture island rd, eugene, or 97401, (855) 981-5490) where they informed the contact that the failure was normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000. Consumer stated my F150 backing up at start up while in park.

10R80 transmission. Clunking, failure to shift to 9th or th gear on level open road till you have traveled for a long distance. Some time you get a message saying drive mode not available. Mode select is set to normal 1st position. Clunlks when down shifting in tow haul mode, that is if it works at all.

Transmission has a shudder when under a load. You can push the accelerator just enough at higher speeds that it doesn't down shift to make it shudder. Feels like a misfire but no codes. Also periodically when you put the truck in reverse is shakes. My dealer has replaced the torque converter and valve body on the transmission per Ford recommendation but still no fix. Truck is still well inside factory warranty.

While driving down interstate 10, my transmission abruptly downshifted to 1 at ~55 mph!! this was the worst of several instances of the transmission either failing to shift properly or jerking the vehicle when shifting gears. I've also had the vehicle stuck in 2nd gear while trying to enter the freeway. The dealership and Ford Motor Company show no concern as they rely on service codes instead of road tests and customer input. I hope I'm able to get another vehicle from a manufacturer I can trust. It's unfortunate because I have owned Ford F-150S for the past 6 years and driven them since high school. This new 10-speed transmission should've never been released to the public. I see others are having the same issue so hopefully a class action lawsuit is soon to follow!

Power is being transferred to the driveshaft when starting the vehicle in park, making the driveshaft spin backwards. A loud mechanical clunk is heard from the transmission when occurring. The vehicle is stationary when starting. After 6 weeks and three attempts to repair, Ford stated "this gear state is ideal for anticipation of an engagement but also generates a positive drag to the driveline and can cause a rocking sensation of the vehicle at or just after engine start in park. The 2 loaner F-150S driven while waiting with the 10R80 transmission did not exhibit the condition.

  • 2,363 miles
2,363 miles on the truck it downshifted on the hwy from 80 mph to 20 mph on its own, with a loud noise. Had to get in the slow lane so not to have a wreck. It is equipped with auto start, where the truck engine automatically stops at a stop sign or light and restarts on its own. The trucked shut itself off while in traffic and had to be put in park and restarted, almost causing a wreck. Took the truck back to the dealer again, when it made a loud noise and felt like we hit something when going 55 mph, the truck jolted we again got in the slow lane. Then when sitting in the driveway the motor started racing on its own not touching the excelerator. Had to turn off truck. We are afraid to take our grandkids in our new 2018 truck we are paying dearly for. The last time we took the truck to the dealer, they said there was nothing wrong with it. We are about to retire and wanted this truck to be our last, we have not even had it a year. We have done some checking online, we are not the only ones experiencing these types of problems.

Intermittent transmission hesitation under acceleration, while pulling into traffic from a side street. Without warning the truck completely cuts out. The engine is still running but there is no forward acceleration from the truck. This lasts about 10 seconds. Two incidents so far. Also very heavy, abrupt shifting, jerking shifting. Also intermittent when shifting the truck into reverse while stationary there is a loud heavy clunk from the transmission.

Parked in a gas station parking spot. I put the truck into park and left the vehicle on for the family. I took one of my children into the store. My wife opens her passenger door and stepped out to pick up a little mess. While in park the truck moved forward a bit and started to roll back. Somehow the truck was in park or showed it was in park (it didnt move when I let off the brake prior to getting out or as I got out of the truck). After struggling from outside of the passenger side and the truck rolling back about 50 feet, my wife managed to get the shifter into park (again). The passenger door hit a concrete post and opened the door beyond what the hinges allow

My truck has 15,000 miles on it. The acceleration will run away frequently (press the pedal and there is a severe lag and lack of power). There will be random engine noise when decelerating around 45 miles per hour. Also, acceleration will be rough when going from 20-30 miles per hour just before the it shifts into a higher gear. I took this to the Ford dealer and they said there are no error codes on the trucks computer system. Also, the steering will be stiff or unaligned at random times. Please assist in getting these issues corrected.

The driver side rear view mirror has a double image. This makes night driving and identifying object in the mirror more difficult. It duplicates headlights which at night creates more light in the drivers face making it more difficult to see the road. The mirror has been this way since it was test driven the drive train issue, at 7,000 miles the truck has developed a whining sound while accelerating the dealer belies this is the pinion bearing.
