Danger!! potential extreme injury or death possible. These issues must be addressed by Ford. Vehicle speed control:engine accelerating on its own when in reverse. Braking: Would slow down but will accelerate when brake was released upon reverse. Upon reversing up an uphill local side street driveway, braking, and releasing the brake, the vehicle accelerated in less than one second at a tremendous speed. When the vehicle was put into drive from reverse, the engine created a high-pitched whining sound. Had there been the children in the driveway, they would have been killed. There is also a whining sound from the engine when it is running. Changing gear from reverse to drive: Engine creates a high-pitched whining sound reverse up a slight hill: Reversing up a small hill immensely accelerates on its own. We notified the dealership when we received the vehicle, but it was not corrected.

Started vehicle as usual, shifted the shifter from park to drive. The vehicle appeared to be in drive but the transmission was in reverse. Releasing the brake pedal confirmed that the transmission was in reverse (vehicle moved backwards) but the shifter showed drive. I then shifted the shifter to park but the transmission remained stuck in reverse. Once I turned off the engine I could not restart because the transmission was stuck in reverse even though the shifter showed it was in park. Had the vehicle towed to dealership for repair. This event happened in my driveway and did not result in damage or injuries.

Since purchasing the truck, the 10 speed automatic transmission doesn't seem to shift smoothly in many gears. It seems to lurch when shifting at often times and will skip gears when sifting quite frequently. For a new vehicle it doesn't shift smoothly at all. It's been serviced at an authorized Ford dealer where they told me the transmission was reprogrammed due to a technical service bulletin but even since then it still doesn't shift smoothly. It happens pretty much everyday or every time I drive it since it was purchased.

This vehicle generally exhibits harsh upshifts (3rd-to-4th) and downshifts (4th-to-3rd) as indicated on the driver's ip. I have experienced multiple occasions when the vehicle will "miss" the shift from 3rd to 4th, normally when cold and under light to moderate throttle conditions. The gear indicator briefly shows 1st gear, however, I was able to apply full throttle (100% accel pedal), but had no power to the wheels (drive is not engaged), engine speed rose to approximately 3000 RPM. This condition lasted for about 2-3 secs before it shifted to 4th, the revs settled to normal/expected range and drive to the wheels was re-engaged. This is an extremely dangerous condition that leaves me without power to safely accelerate, or merge with traffic.

10-speed transmission hesitates/randomly shifts constantly during driving. When stopping at traffic lights, after being completely stopped, the vehicle lurches and an audible clunk can be heard from the transmission. It has always been sluggish when accelerating, today that has gotten far worse and the transmission light is on. I had a 45 minute drive home and the truck struggled to get up to 40 mph. This erratic transmission behavior makes it dangerous to drive in any kind of traffic or on the highway because you can't predict how the vehicle will behave when pushing the gas pedal.

When decelerating from driving speed, the engine shuts off at approximately 5-8 mph disabling the power steering. A message appears on the display "auto startstop manual restart required." Transmission must be shifted to N or P to restart. Vehicle shuts off at subsequent stops, while still moving, disabling power steering. Disabling the auto startstop by pushing the button on the dashboard has no effect on this happening.

The steering constantly pulls to the left and pulls to the right. The steering has impulses that are felt in the steering during normal driving. The steering wheel oscillates and attempts to make steering corrections at any speed. The steering wheel will remain turned in one direction. For example, driving through a curve going left, hands can be removed from steering wheel and steering wheel will lock itself in position and stay turning left. The dysfunctional steering drove me off of a 2 lane road at 55mph. The poor steering of this vehicle creates an unsafe and not road worthy vehicle. The transmission can not decide which gear to be in creating pauses of power distribution to the rear wheels. The transmission shifts hard and pulls the vehicle back and forth creating loud clunking noises and rattling the passengers. The poor operation of the transmission creates unsafe driving conditions.

Took to local dealer and they are unable to doplicate

My truck occasionally does not accelerate from a stop at the correct speed. The rpms go way up but the truck barely moves. This issue pertains to the 10-speed transmission that occasionally locks up the rear wheels. The first time it happened to me, the truck had less than 500miles on it. I had exited the interstate and was approaching a light on a downhill grade. I decelerated for the turn, then started to accelerate, but decided I was too late for the light and started to lightly brake again. At that time, the rear wheels locked up, make a screeching sound, and the truck suddenly decelerated so hard that it locked my seatbelt. I immediately looked in the rear view mirror to see what kind of truck had just hit me from behind. To my surprise, no vehicle behind me. I was on my way (5min) to the Ford dealership for the transmission cable recall and we discussed this issue. Could it be related to the cable recall? the dealership said my cable clip was fine and recall did not apply. They told me they could not fix it unless a check engine/check transmission light was illuminated. None was illuminated, so they sent me on my way. This has happened 4 times in 10months (9900miles). Each time has the same slight down slope when shifting either up or down. Scares the hell of of me every time, let alone the damage it is doing to the drivetrain, tires, and engine. New trucks should not have this problem. If it happened on a wet road or snow/ice contaminated, I'm sure it would cause a wreck or worse.

While driving 60mph up a slight incline on the interstate, the truck stopped decelerating. The engine rpms jumped up. Fortunately I was in the right hand lane and pulled to the shoulder and out of traffic. I was able to rev the rpms and no acceleration, while the gear indicator continued to read "D." it appeared the transmission slipped out of all gears. I coasted to a stop and apologized to my friend for the language as I was on a handsfree call. I placed the gear selector in park, noticed that there were no warning indicators on the dash, and shut off the truck. I pulled out the manual and tried to think of what to do next. Finding no solutions, a friend suggested before I call a tow truck, to start it up and try to put it in drive. I did, and it went into gear normally. It has not happened again, however it has had a few unusually aggressive gear changes. I do not trust this truck with the coyote V-8 engine and 10-speed transmission combination.
