Camshaft phasers have failed, and turbo charger actuator arms are rattling bad. These damages were not caused by driver, but they are a result of the manufacturer. I have already spent $5000 on this vehicle for the camshaft phasers and now have to fork out another $3000 on the turbo. According to a lawsuit/injunction by the DOJ, my truck meets the criteria to have the recall covered but Ford customer care said no.

I bought my truck in the middle of 2022 with around 20,000 miles on it. Within the recent months, I started to hear a knocking/rattling noise every time I start my truck. When looking into it and asking some mechanics/technicians, I was told my truck year and engine had problems with the cam phasers and there might be a warranty or recall out for it. I found out that there was a Customer satisfaction program 21N03 with additional supplements. I looked further into it and called Ford to see if there was anything to be done and they recommended me to this site. As of the 2nd half of last year, this truck is new to me and still has under 50,000 miles on it. The customer satisfaction program ended before I ever heard the noises this year. The program ended January 1st, 2023. As the owner of a ford model in this program, I was never informed or made aware of needing to get this taken care of, nor did the dealership that sold me the truck, or service shops when getting my truck serviced make me aware or inform me of the issue with ford models and years similar to mine. The customer satisfactions program also state they would send letters out to all Ford owners with this important information. Outside of never learning of this until asking shops and researching, I also never got a letter as a Ford owner.

Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 on Nov 19th, 2021 which covers all F-150s manufactured in their Deerborn plant from March 2016 through Nov 2019 which mine was. My truck is now in dire need of this repair and Ford is refusing to cover this. Since Ford did not include my VIN in this program I was never notified in Nov of 21 during which time I was well within the mileage limit as to which they would cover the repair. I asked Ford why my VIN wasn't included in this program and they had said I had to be included in a prior program 21B10 to be included in this one. So I asked about the prior program and they indicated to me that it only covered vehicles manufactured in their Kansas plant. From my research it seems as if my truck should have been included in both programs, provided notification at the time and repaired my vehicle as a result. Now I am out of the mileage after 2.5 years of further driving and have a very expensive $3,500 repair bill in front of me.

This morning, while making a left hand turn, the engine stopped running. I looked down at the dashboard. There was a message that read "auto start/stuff off" "Place vehicle in 'P' and re-start engine." I re-started the engine and continued my drive to work. I have looked on line to see why this would happen. I have a half full tank of gas. I was actually in the middle of my left turn when the engine just died and I had to read a message on the dashboard. This is extremely unsafe.

My truck engine has a very unusual ticking, rattle noise. I have been researching several Ford f-150 forums and the same year and motor everyone is having issues with and they are the same as mine. I can not afford to have it diagnosed but every forum said it needed an engine replacement. I also had another issue with the oil consumption, I was driving today and out of no where I lost oil pressure and oil light came on so I pulled over, I turned truck off and I checked the engine oil and it was fine. I started truck up and it was back to reading normal pressure. I don-??t know if that was a fluke but definitely not normal. I am worried about the engine rattle and ticking noise it is definitely not normal and it is fairly loud. There are several tsb I seen online about this year and model of truck with same exact issues.

How is there not a recall yet? I'm still making payments on my 2018 Ford F-150 which I purchased in 2020. The first problem I experienced happened when accelerating to pass a slower moving vehicle (into oncoming traffic). Instead, my truck slowed substantially (70 mph down to 40 mph) preventing me and all the other drivers behind me from passing. Fortunately, there wasn't a vehicle traveling in the opposite lane...although, I'm not sure a head on collision would've resulted in a recall! I was told that the EcoBoost was the reason...that term is deceiving to say the least. This may/ may not have led to the bigger problem, my transmission. It's obvious Ford's 10 speed automatic transmission is far less than good. However, there is a safety risk when the gears change on their own, while driving, with children! Aside from the bang or jolt from the gears switching while in motion, it's frightening when the gear changes from 7th to 2nd on the freeway and the rpms rev very high, or when the gear starts in 7th from a stop sign...it takes a while to accelerate nonetheless! Shame on you Ford for not issuing a recall sooner! Very fortunate that this hasn't resulted in a major collision with fatalities...or perhaps there has been and there weren't any survivors to report it! I am not happy and will continue to update my complaint as I work my tail off to make money for a new transmission. Goodbye...until my next break.
