  • 60,000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was initially purchased, the vehicle drove rough. The contact stated that recently while driving 74 MPH on the highway, the vehicle lost motive power. The wrench light illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was downshifting hard, with a clunking sound while driving 50 MPH. The vehicle was driven for 5 miles and then turned off. The contact then restarted the vehicle and drove to the residence. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with transmission failure, and metal shavings inside the oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Transmission failure. The transmission skips gears when accelerating. Which is especially not good when you are trying to merge into traffic and the vehicle lurches you as it skips gears. Had it diagnosed at the Ford Dealership and they are saying the truck needs an entire new transmission. Skipping in 2nd-3rd gear and while driving in 10th gear it will drop. We purchased this vehicle used and it now has 103k miles on it. Because we are over a 100k Ford will not help us replace the transmission. I am not sure why there is no recall when this is a reported issue (that I wish I knew of before purchasing the truck).

  • 15,000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the power train warning light had illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while her husband was driving 65-70 MPH on a mountainous road while the contact was occupying the front passenger's side seat, the transmission was stuck in a gear. The contact stated that her husband informed her that upon depressing an unknown pedal, the pedal was stiff and failed to travel down. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle started swerving, and the vehicle nearly swerved off the road. The contact's husband was able to regain control of the vehicle. The contact's husband was able to pull to the side of the road. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to the ten-speed transmission. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the power train warning light was no longer illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a transmission CAD drum defect. The dealer informed the contact that it was a factory defect. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be taken apart to replace the CAD drum, or the entire transmission needed to be replaced with a new transmission that did not have the factory defect. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure, but the manufacturer offered minimal assistance in covering the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford TSB Number: 22-2428. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Traveling at 75 MPH with cruise control on the transmission shifted into 1st gear. I slowed down and reset the cruise control to 65MPH. A couple of minutes later the transmission again shifted into 1st gear. This happened after driving for about an hour. There is no recall on my F-150. WHY NOT? Thank you for your help.

Intermittent hard, delayed shifting, and a high-speed stumble. Sometimes coming out of 3d under a moderate acceleration, it feels like someone stabs and releases the brakes hard enough to lock the seat belt retractor.

The vehicle shifted from drive to neutral by itself while driving at high speeds on an expressway, unable to accelerate for a short period of time, and then shifted back to gear by itself with the driver almost losing control of the vehicle. At low speeds, several times, the vehicle also shifted erratically between gears, such 1 to 4, 7 to 2 and then back 6 etc.

The truck delays with automatic shifting and stalls. It will go from 10th down to 1st. This is extremely dangerous and we were quoted 7,000 for repairs. It's a 2019 with 60,000 miles! It should NOT be doing this.

  • 101,000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while running cold, and warming up, the vehicle failed to shift into first gear without jerking after making several attempts. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the transmission might fail between 50,000 and 100,000 due to a faulty plate. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the common failure due to parts not being available. The contact stated that several dealers and transmission shops were contacted about purchasing the part for the repair. The failure had gotten worse, and the transmission failed to shift into gear intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

Transmission failure which resulted in significant loss of power when shifting gears while pulling onto a major road. This caused the vehicle to stall which could have resulted in multi car accident as well as harm to those in vehicle(s). Additionally, there have been multiple hard shifts when accelerating as well as loss or skipping of gears when traveling on the interstate. This has also happened from a stop when turning at intersections, with the transmission falling out of gear completely while driving, causing an unexpected loss of power in traffic. There were no check engine or warning lights prior to these incidents happening. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership who confirmed a new transmission was necessary and said this model is a design flaw and there are known issues with this particular transmission. The check engine light will randomly come on then go away. Fortunately it had come on the way to the dealer for inspection so they pulled the truck right back and ran diagnostics.

10R80 transmission is failing for the second time since vehicle was purchased new (special order) from Ford Motor Company. Once at 36,000 miles and again at 75,000 miles. Based upon information and belief the CDF drum is to blame. Among other commonly exhibited issues the transmission is randomly and unexpectedly failing to move the vehicle when in traffic, when trying to merge into traffic, and when trying to safely navigate an intersection... creating a hazardous condition for myself and other motorists. With so many 2018+ F150 vehicles having the same transmission issue, when is NHTSA going to do something about it?!

When pressing the gas pedal to accelerate, the truck will not accelerate rather it begins to rev the engine loudly (as if the gas pedal was being pushed while the truck is in neutral) the RPM shoots high to 6-7 (again the truck isn-??t accelerating any faster just loudly revving, ) then the truck jolts as if it has just been rear ended. The shifting is stuttering staying stuck in 3rd and 4th gear severing going back to 1 even at a stop. Vehicle messaging alerted 1/10/25 powertrain malfunction /reduced power. However this issues has been going on and Ford Said it was related to a 4x4 control module which was replaced and yet the issues continue. Brought it back to ford because the problem was not fixed and they are asking for payment of additional diagnostic testing and NOW saying it-??s a transmission issue AFTER saying it was issue with the control module unit. Work was completed 10/2024 at Ford

Fords 10R80 transmission has had known issues that are safety defeats and for years Ford has lied to me that there is nothing wrong with the 10R80 transmission. That they were " Characteristic of the transmission" to avoid fixing the problem under warranty. May 26 2023 Ford released a TSB acknowledging the known issues with the 10R80. (TSB 22-2428 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022) But as Ford is aware most vehicles are out of Factory Warranty and many lost the whole year of warranty because of the lock down of 2020 ( which Ford didn't give us credit for) so the repair was issued as a TSB then a recall to avoid paying for this repair. The repair is around $7000 and Ford now expects customer to pay half to all of this repair for defective and unsafe parts they failed to address when these vehicles were under factory warranty. My vehicle alone was in and out of dealership over 18 time regarding all of these transmission issues like many others. This need to be a recall not a TSB, and Ford needs to address this issues on they dime, not the consumer they lied to for years about this problem.

The Transmission failed. Before the mechanical light went on. As I was driving the vehicle it was having issues switching gears. And at times would loose power and then rev up and speed up. Loss of power and speeding up is a dangerous and frightening situation in a vehicle going at any speed and even more so while traveling on a highway. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. In speaking with the service manager they recommended replacing the transmission due to the error codes that were produced in the computer. They stated that this was a common issue in this make and model and a replacement would be the best option to avoid future issues. And after researching the issue online there are many people having this same issue. It-??s a $10,000 fix and FORD is aware of it and yet there still is no recall on the failure in these transmissions!! Error codes P2703; P2705; P0767

10 speed automatic transmission (10R80) harsh shifting from 3 to 4, causing slugish and unreliable acceleration. Sudden bang into 4th gear also slams occupants including driver off seats. Aamco of el cajon, ca confrimed and currently rebuilding transmission due to failed valve body, excessively warn friction rings, slipped cdf drum and warn teeth inside drum. Symptoms were sudden and seemed to be worsened with colder winter morning. No warning lights. Vehicle only has 59,000 miles and was denied warranty due to being owned longer than 6 years.

2019 Ford 10 speed transmission has been shift hard when slowing down and then accelerating. This week while driving 65 mph the collision warning came on and truck slowed down. There was no traffic near me for any collision. Since then the transmission is not shifting correctly.i had one occasion where the transmission shifted from 8th gear to 1st gear. Very hard, or pausing and then shifting hard. Coming into highway it paused, loss power in front of of oncoming traffic. Very dangerous so I immediately took my vehicle to Ford Dealer and also call the Ford Customer relations to report issue. There is only 75,000 miles on the truck. In research I have found know issues with exact same issues on this transmission. However no recall for my vehicle. This is poor safety and poor customer satisfaction for Ford.

Having major issues with the auto stop control, it has turned the truck off while sitting in the middle of an intersection, has stalled my truck multiple times in busy areas of on coming traffic, has shortened my battery life and my starter, and it has shown different warning icons. The power train is also acting up by hard shifting, not wanting to switch gears, skipping gears, and also making it difficult to pin point problem. My rear left brake functions are causing an issue as well, some function is making my brakes either stick or something because I get a burning odor constantly coming from my rear wheel even after changing my brakes and rotors.
