10 speed transmission started down shifting randomly, while on interstate or city driving. I had to start driving it in manual until I could get transmission replaced at dealership. This is happening to all these 10 speed transmissions from 2018- ~2023 ford and GM vehicles. This could have caused a fatality.

Transmission shift rough, driving down the road shifts down to first gear, and sometimes does shift into 3rd-4th gear going down the and basically stops me in the middle of traffic until it finally decides to shift. I brought it to ford the first they said the transmission computer needed to be reset, so they did that and it was even worse when I left the parking lot. So I called them the next morning, and they told me to bring it back in that's when they told me my transmission needed to be replaced for $8,000 When I started doing research I found this is a common problem with this certain transmission i called ford corporation and the lady proceeded to tell me they are aware of the issue with this transmission and they are working on a remedy for the issue but they were only willing to pay for half of the cost. But if they know there is a issue(a safety issue) with this transmission then why not fix it for me. Ford 10r80 transmission

UNKNOWN. Truck has issues switching gears. Pulled out on the highway and truck wouldn-??t shift out of 2nd gear. I almost got rear ended because the truck would not shift into the higher gears. It finally shifted real hard out of 2nd gear, then started shifting back to lower gears even though I wasn-??t slowing down. This incident with it not shifting out of 2nd only happened once so far, but the shifting between gears has been erratic the last few weeks. Talking to other people who own F-150-??s, this seems like a common issue with these trucks.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the transmission upshifted from first gear to fifth gear unexpectedly. The transmission was slamming into gear while driving at slow and high speeds. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle stopped. There was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The check Owner-??s Manual message was displayed. There was no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

component in question is the transmission "10R80". risk is that truck stops or loses speed in the middle of driving. It is especially dangers when going thru a 4 way stop and truck almost comes to a stop because it has no speed and have encounterd close calls to be hit or T boned by other vehicles. Problem has been on ongoing dispute with consumers and Ford about the extreme problems with the transmission that include harsh shifting, jerking, hesitation, constant sudden downshifts, difficulty shifting gears, and even an occasional loss of power while in motion. Other descriptions that I experience is noticeable lurches during gear changes recently purchased this vehicle and I was fully unaware of it problems nor was it mentioned to me by the used car salesman and manager that they had a truck in their lot with extreme transmission problems. First purchased ([xxx]) there was no warning signs but maybe after a month or so is when the truck showed a "wrench" symbol on the dash as to show that there is a problem. But somehow it resets everytime you turn off truck and restart as if showing no problem exists. I have learned to deal with it since than but now it is just getting worse. Have not taken it to the dealership because I am not ready to pay for a problem that (I am now fully aware) Ford has known about this problem and has not taken the safety precautions or remedies for consumers that own their product to get this fixed before a serious/deadly incident occurs you please investigate this extreme known problem because at times I fear for myself, my family and even the driving community for their safety because of what my truck may do or not do while I am driving this unsafe vehicle in our public roadways/highways. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RPM's rapidly increased but the vehicle lost motive power, after which, the contact became aware that the vehicle had downshifted on its own. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Vehicle hesitates shifting into 4th gear especially when first leaving the driveway and attempting to accelerate to pace of traffic. The hesitation is enough to make your head lurch forward, followed by a harsh engagement of 4th gear. I-??m concerned I may be rear ended due to lack of power. The problem has happened continually. No MIL lights or any other problems. The vehicle will be scheduled for service.

On December 7 2024 I parked the vehicle in a driveway and left the engine running. The vehicle's gear selector was firmly in park and the emergency brake was not set. I sat in the vehicle for a few minutes waiting for my friend. While waiting and the vehicle still in park and still running, I exited the vehicle to adjust the back set. I left the driver door open, and opened the rear driver's side door to fold down the rear seat, and move items out of the way. While doing so the vehicle suddenly began drifting backwards. I immediately stepped backwards and watched the vehicle roll backwards down the driveway approximately 5-10 feet. The vehicle then stopped. I then got into the cab and put the emergency brake on. The vehicle has had prior service for transmission shifting issues and was reprogrammed. This initially helped but over time the transmission began exhibiting shifting issues. In general, after start up, the first time the vehicle shifts from 3rd to 4th gear the shift may feel hard and as if the brakes are being applied. This occurs intermittently.

My truck has been suddenly and unexpectedly downshifting into first gear at any speed. At times, it would not engage the transmission at low gears leaving me stuck in the middle of the intersection or at a stop light. The Ford service department indicated that the10r80 transmission has to be rebuilt due to the CDF drum going bad. According to the service department, this seems to be a common issue with a Ford 150 10 speed truck. I have read that the 2017-2019 Ford six speed transmissions has a safety recall. It seems that Ford has built a substandard 6 and 10 speed transmission putting people in risk of injury due to a malfunctioning transmission.

While driving this morning 12/6/24 I pulled out of a driveway going between 5-10 mph and my truck completely turned off. The dashboard said...."Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine" My truck had no lights, the steering wheel became stiff, I couldnt steer, the brake became very plyable almost unusable, I was completely stuck in the middle of the road! I had to put my truck in park and restart it. Luckily it started and didnt cause an accident. This is the 3rd time this has happened since I owned this vehicle. This is extremely dangerous and very scary!

My truck has a 10 speed transmission and currently has 114,000 miles on the odometer.At about 90,000 miles It began shifting weird mainly into third gear just maybe a little slipping. That has drastically evolved to the engine racing between most shifts and causing hard jerking. At times it feels like it goes into neutral snd the engine revs, putting no power to the wheels. Most recently it has began to happen on the highway, even between seventh and 10th gear. It seems to lose forward momentum, but the income begins to race. This is becoming a major safety factor. At times, even making a turn the vehicle slows, but the engine speeds up, I went to my local Ford dealer. They said they-??ve had no complaints of the 10 speed transmission on the Fords. I did some research and realize there are some recalls but not currently for my year.

Automatic transmission shifting very harsh and lags at times. When pulling onto or across the highway from a stop the transmission will lag and will almost stop between gears posing the risk of a being struck from behind or from the side by other vehicles. At highway speed the transmission will show it as being in 10th gear but will suddenly act as if in neutral and the gear inductor light shows 4th gear or lower and as if all pulling power is lost. This has happened on a couple of different occasions causing me to have to either merge to the emergency lane on the interstate or look for a potential pull off on secondary roads. When this happened with other vehicles following it puts you in fear of being struck from behind especially if you are unable to immediately get to the shoulder of the road or a safe pull off. The warning light has illuminated when this happens. Ford is able to look it up on the computer remotely and tell that there are issues with the shifting sequence. According to the local dealer this problem is only fixable by replacing the transmission. This problem seems to be a known problem to many others as well as the ford dealerships and in my opinion poses a huge safety concern for not only the driver and any passengers in the vehicle but also other nearby drivers. These problems occur with various speeds and driving conditions.
