While driving on interstate highway at 65 mph, we hit an expansion joint and the steering wheel began shaking so bad we almost hit the truck next to us. The highway was so crowded all I could do was brake and hang on. Finally when the speed was at 25 it quit violently shaking. Checked the truck out at the next exit and found nothing obvious. On the way home, it did the same thing again with the same result. I have not driven on the highway since because I am scared that we could cause an accident. We live in a rural area with the closest dealer 75 miles away, I will get it there in the near future but my question is, is Ford aware of the problem" the truck has less than 15000 miles, and should not be doing this. We are in our late 60"S and I can only hope I can hang on if it happens again. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The front shock absorber bushings are cracked and deteriorating.. Ford will replace them under warranty because they state that the cracked bushing can affect steering, handling and braking.. if the bushings fall apart suddenly the driver of the vehicle can lose control and crash and kill someone.. my service advisor said he has mever seen the problem before.. being curious I looked at other vehicles on the lot.. every single F250 and F350 vehicle I looked at had the same problem.. even the new ones with zero miles had cracked bushings.. it looks like they will fall apart and fail just after the warranty ends. A failed bushing can cause all sorts of steering ans stabilty issues. I thought someone might like to know about this.. im glad I noticed the cracked bushings before the warranty expires

My truck has had the same problem twice now. The "death wobble" in my front end when in got over a rough patch of road or a bridge joint going between 55-75. It was fixed once while my warranty was active now since my warranty is up they will not cover it. Multiple times driving if I wasn't holding on tight or if my wife was driving there would have been an accident which could have been catastrophic. Needs to be a recall on this. Everything on my truck is stock and it happened roughly 15K and now at 43K miles. Im worried it will kill someone and me and or my family when we are in the truck. I don't let them ride very often unless we are going somewhere in town where my speed in less than 45 mph. I have an appointment for my truck at woodhouse Ford in blair, ne on the 19th of this month, March 2020. Hoping by doing this complaint they will not charge me since it is a safety issue.

My 2018 F250 4X4 crew cab has 25,500 miles on it and has been in and out of the Ford dealer several times due to the "death wobble" issue. I almost lost control of the vehicle when it happened after hitting a small separating in the concrete on 1-75. The front end and steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably and the truck immediately begin to pull to the right. Luckily there was not a car in the right lane because there would have been an accident. As a result of this incident, I was immediately forced to pull off the road and stop the vehicle to access the situation. I got out to inspect all four tires thinking that I might have a flat tire. That was not the case. Ford should not be selling this vehicle at all until there is a design change to the front suspension. If my wife was driving when this happened I fear that she could of lost control and ended up in a major accident.

Death wobble. Violent shaking occurs around 45mph. It has occurred on smooth roads and highway as well as slightly bumpy roads. Hard breaking is needed to get it to stop, or return to a normal driving feeling. It is not safe to drive when this occurs. This is a family vehicle and it scares me have them ride with me. Not only that, the other drivers safety if the truck was to lose control. Now I feel like we have a vehicle that is not safe for us, and these problems Ford won't fix leaves us with a truck that we cannot get rid of due to the problems without pushing it onto someone else and putting their lives in danger. This is my first complaint. I did not know what was going on. I took it to my mechanic to have them check out my symptoms. They reported everything was good and tight.tires were rotated and alignment performed, this did not fix or help the problem. After further research, and stories, it became very clear. This should be a recall issue. The truck only has 28000 miles on it. To new to be having these types of issues.

Driving vehicle between 55-60mph, steering wheel violently shaking after going over road expansion joint on 2 lane dry road. No - limited steering control. Mileage on truck 34,800, tires properly inflated, 3 passengers, no trailer or load. Only way to regain control was to heavily apply brakes, bring highway speed down 30mph.

While driving on I90 East bound in burns harbor Indiana near the burns harbor exit driving straight at 70mph my truck began to shake violently and dangerously. I had to apply the brakes and slow down below 30mph to get the shaking to subside. On my return trip again on interstate 90 approaching calumet avenue in Indiana I tapped the brake to turn off the cruise control while driving straight and the truck again shook so violently that I had to stop right on interstate 90 as I did not have much time to try and get to the shoulder. Luckily there was not any vehicles behind me. My F250 has 14,860 miles. I have owned it since new. This was the first time anything like this has happened. The conditions were sunny and dry, temp in the 50's. please look into this problem as serious injuries could have occurred.

I was traveling on the interstate at approximately 70mph and hit expansion joint in bridge which caused the vehicle's steering wheel to violently shutter. Shutter did not stop until vehicle speed was reduced to under 25mph. My family was with me at the time. Needless to say a very scary situation, especially for my children, on a busy interstate. Through research, I have found an issue with these trucks called the "death wobble". the death wobble as its called is a result of a faulty track bar, and or the steering stabilizer shock.

This has happened on multiple occasions, when driving at highway speed, around 70 mph, if a pot hole or rough pavement in encountered the vehicle's front end begins to violentlyshake. The truck only has 25,000 miles on it. This is commonly known as the "death wobble." This is extremely dangerous to those in the truck and surrounding motorists as the only way to stop it is to slow down to around 20 mph, which is dangerous if there is heavy traffic, say on an interstate. Ford is well aware of the problem but has offered no definitive fixes. A solution and recall are needed as if this issue has not killed someone already, it will. Please force Ford to solve this issue.

On 2 occasions driving at approximately 75 mph - after hitting a minor rough patch in the road the truck / steering / front end began violently vibrate. I thought the truck was coming apart. After stopping on the side of the interstate and expecting the vehicle I couldn't find anything wrong. I thought after the first occurrence that it must have been a fluke. After the second time I realized that something must be wrong so I started some research on the internet. I discovered hundreds / thousands of people complaining of the same thing... "death wobble." I testify this is a very real problem and these trucks are dangerous.

The truck had the death wobble when I hit a rough patch on the highway and I had to slam on my brakes to get it to stop. Luckily there were no vehicles right behind me or they would of hit me. This happened at a large bridge over a river. I had a Ford dealership get the truck and try to repair it using tsb # 18-2268. I received the truck afterwards and drove it on the highway again and it started to shutter at highway speeds when I hit a bump again. This would last miles before it would stop. I brought it back to the dealer and they found a loose tie rod. They are 'fixing' this and I will see if this corrects it. This all happened within 2 weeks.

Experienced a severe case of "death wobble" on I-95 after hitting a very slightly rough area of pavement. Travelling at approximately 65 mph when it happened, had to slow to 35 to get it to stop and feared losing control while trying to control it. The truck has original wheels and tires and has not been modified in any way. Tire pressure is 63 psi all around.

Whenever I drive at a high rate of speed (65mph+) and a slight bump or a bridge joint connection, it sends the truck into an uncontrollable shaking of the steering wheel causing loss of control. I bought this truck 3 days ago and am already experiencing the 'death wobble' problem. I am genuinely concerned for the safety of myself, family, and other motorists on the road.
