Driving on interstate at 70 mph and hit a transition on a bridge and the steering wheel and started to shake. Within seconds the whole truck was shaking violently. I had to brake immediately with heavy traffic all around to 30 mph to get it to stop, almost causing a significant accident.

  • 20,500 miles
January 2020, 2nd occurrence of death wobble at 20500 miles. The first incident happened around 9000 miles and was "fixed" for a short time. Upon hitting a bump in the road at 65-70mph the trucks steering shakes uncontrollably until the truck is slowed down to 25-30 mph. The factory "fix" does not appear to work for long.

Death wobble! I purchased the vehicle brand new in September of 2018. Around 20,000 miles I started experience a violent shaking of the steering wheel after you would hit a normal bump in the road, which causes you to lose control of the vehicle. The issue would occur on the highway and on city streets. This condition is widely known as the death wobble. It was repaired at 20,586 miles, at which time, they said they added a caster adjustment and replaced all the joints that could have been loosened by the death wobble. They said that now that everything was tight and the caster was fixed, the issue would not return. The issue returned a few thousand miles later at 24,929. This time when I took it in for the "oscillating steering wheel issue" (because Ford won't allow them to say or write death wobble) all they did was replace the steering stabilizer. Other F-250 owners that I know have experienced the same issue and it is a widespread issue. Now that I'm on my third steering stabilizer, I feel the vehicle is hazardous. Ford needs to be held accountable for an issue they've known of for far too long.

  • 15,500 miles
Starting at 15,500 my truck started the so called "death wobble" Ford has been having trouble with. This is my second new truck in 2 years with it and the problem doesn't get fixed. When hitting the slightest bump my truck becomes unstearable due to violent shaking. Ford of uniontown has seen the video of my truck doing it, their service technicians have also experienced it and the only answer I get is " be careful" and one service tech said when he drove it he was afraid for the people next to him. I need a truck, I have a business, I need this resolved and not at my cost again. Nor the lives of my family or someone else. I have video if I can upload it somewhere to show you.. please help

While traveling at highway speeds (roughly 75mpg) three times I hit a bump in the road and the steering wheel begin shaking violently nearly eliminating driver control. The first time it happened I was able to get to the shoulder and the shaking continued until I was nearly stopped. The next two times it happened the violent back and forth (20 degrees +/-) to either side it subsided once I slowed to around 40 mph on the shoulder. I have had the truck to the dealer prior to this to diagnose what I felt like was a faulty steering stabilizer because the steering wheel would have a jitter while going over bumps. I was informed the tsb for a new steering stabilizer was on backorder. I have a 20 second video of this happening (I was smart enough to take one the third time it happened) but it is too big to attach. Please tell me who I can send it to.

  • 16,000 miles
2019 F250 king ranch purchased new in late June 2019. Front shimmy (also referred to as "death wobble"), started occurring at around 16,000 miles. The front wheels, suspension, steering column, etc, . will shake violently after passing over a bump, such as an expansion joint, potholes, or pavement overlaps at 60 mph or greater. Happens mostly during interstate/highway driving. Violent shaking will not stop until vehicle has slowed to < 25 mph. As soon as problem started, the truck was taken to the dealer service department. Parts replaced as stated on the attached invoice dated 12/10/19. This did not correct the problem, so the vehicle was taken back to the dealer service department. The parts replaced are stated on the attached invoice dated 12/26/19. This did not correct the problem and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer service department on 1/14/20. The service manager stated that they are encountering the same issues with other F250 owners, especially with the 2017-2020 models. The parts manager ordered what he referred to as a "sleeve" that he hoped would fix the problem, but the part is on back-order for 4-8 weeks. The dealership will not provide a replacement vehicle for the time being, so I am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle.

I am experiencing what is referred to as a death wobble at highway speeds over 50 mph. I currently have 14K on the odometer. Dealer or Ford has not repaired at this time. Wobble is getting worse. The only way to stop is to slow the vehicle down. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle on the highway anymore. Dealer did not disclose issue before recently purchasing the 2019 F250 and from what I am finding out on the internet the issue has been known from as early as 2005.

Death wobble on interstate. Uncontrollable wobble after hitting bump on interstate. Barely held it on the road and the wobbling only stopped after we pulled off on the shoulder of the interstate and came to a complete stop. Extreme danger. Happened many times but this last time was very severe. Ford home office acknowledges the problem and the remedy is a stabilizer bar which they are putting on my truck today. But this has been going on for 6 weeks so we have been driving back roads everywhere. Major inconvenience. This morning there was another 250 there with the same issue. He had a video of his doing it. Needs a recall before someone is killed. If a big F250 wrecks we may survive but if we hit a smaller vehicle it could injure kill them.

While driving at or above 60 mph any bump or deflection in the road can and will cause my vehicle to start shaking and walking side to side down the road until I can slow down to a near stopped speed. First time the vehicle had less than 26000 miles. The Ford dealership replaced my drag link, then at 36000 miles it started doing it again. I have now spent the last 5 months dealing with this problem as Ford insists they cant get me parts to fix my truck. I have now moved past Ford and I am repairing the problem on my own. As for paperwork all I have is an email from Ford customer care with a complaint number and all contact was by phone. Dealership has all the paperwork and not willing to release it to me at this time.

Death wobble!! was going home from work, and there are some bumps in the road and my truck steering wheel started to shake very badly. Had a hard time keeping my truck in control. Had to pull onto the shoulder of the road and come to almost a complete stop before it stopped. It happened a few times before where the steering wheel would shake some, then stop on its own, but not that time. If a death wobble causes a accident or worse yet, someone gets killed, Ford will have a law suit on their hands. 😨 this happened on a highway (hwy 59 in fort bend county in Texas. On a straight way going about 60 - 65 mph.
