While traveling at highway speed vehicle started shaking violently after going over a bridge expansion joint (bump). Causing a loss of control and crossing 3 lanes including the highway shoulder. Vehicle came to a stop in the grass along the side of the interstate. Shaking continued until vehicle was below 20 mph. I purchased the truck new in Nov 2019 and it had approximately 28,000 miles on it when the incident occurred. The tires and all other equipment is factory original, nothing has been added or changed. Vehicle is currently at the dealership for repair in accordance with tsb 19-2274.

I noticed the wobbling when I just purchased the vehicle, but I was too busy and thought it might need an alignment. It was getting worse. On 11/18/2019, when I was driving and hit a bump in the interstate, the front end started wobbling very badly. I slowed down and it stopped. It happens more and more often.I took it to the Ford dealer that I bought the vehicle from. They said it was a damper assembly default. They told me this default damper assembly should be a recall, but it has not been announced by the authorized authority so I would have to pay to get it replaced. It is very unsafe to drive the vehicle, but I have no choice since I don't have another vehicle. The default part is on back ordered. I called the dealer today. They said the part would not be in until 12/17 or later.

Purchased this 2019 F250 3/4 ton heavy duty long box in May. It has had the death wobble 4 times now, three times into the dealership. This has happened on dry smooth pavement going at 65 mph or better, once towing a living quarters horse trailer on icy roads. The dealer now has the truck for an "undetermined" time as they don't know what to do with it. I have listened to and read a lot of youtube and threads that this S a mojor problem and Ford has not issued a recall. I wonder how many people have to be killed or injured before something is don. They issue a recall on a tail gate or seat problem but not on something as serious as thee front end suddenly becoming so dangerous as the "death wobble" and bouncing all over the road without being able to control it......... why Ford the dealer installed aftermarket stabilizers, dind't help, then Ford product stabilizers and it still didn't help, now it's in the shop till who knows when. I am terrified to drive it for fear of when it might happen again.

This vehicle and many more like it are experiencing what Ford Motor Company is calling sustained steering wheel oscillation, when it is actually a death wobble that if not gotten under control immediately will lead to loss of control, which may involve serious injury or death, Ford address this in tsb 19-2274 however they are not doing enough to make parts available to correct this dangerous condition.. I do not personally own one of these vehicles but I as a service manager at a Ford dealer have seen that problem first hand over and over. There is no reliable avenue for us to contact Ford for them to take us seriously so I hope this will not fall on deaf ears and action will be taken to prevent possible wrecks and fatalities. [xxx] being that I am a manager at a Ford dealer I wish to have my identity protected due to possible backlash over this report [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

On December 7th, 2019, two separate occurrences of violent front end shake/shimmy. This occurred at approximately 45/50mph on a flat rural road. Through following research, I found that this is a very serious problem with the Ford F250's and that it's titled the 'death wobble'.

While driving with my family after we just purchased our new F250 Super Duty we almost hit the car next to us and went in to a ditch. I was driving on the interstate at a speed of around 65 mph and all of a sudden the entire truck was violently shaking down the road and I could not maintain the truck in my own lane almost causing a multi car accident. I did not know what to do and had to call family members to come pick up my family which was 2 hours away from our home because they were crying and scared to ride in our new truck we just purchased. I thought maybe something was loose so I looked under the truck and made sure all lug nuts were tight whle on the side of the road for about an hour. Turns out after research this is a known problem!!. I want this repaired by a dealership but do not know what the next steps are as of now this is obviously unsafe and could get someone seriously injured or killed.

At approximately 60mph, the front end started shaking and truck became underivable. The common term for this is 'death wobble' and it has been reported to the dealership. I've had the same issues 5-6 times over the last 3 weeks.

When driving the truck in city or highway if you hit a bump or bridge the steering warbles some time very villain. This make it very scary to drive been to the dealer and they replace the tie rod and damper and the steering still has the same thing.

Uncontrollalbe wobble at high speeds when hitting bumps on overpasses, or very rough spots in the roadway, or bridge crossings. This has occured to me four times at different locations, & at speeds ranging from 60mph - 80mph. Each time was a very hair raising situation to say the least. Also each time while trying to get the vehicle under control you had to slow down as soon as possible to get it to stop the severe wobble, & when I say severe wobble it felt like the front tires were going to come out from underneath the truck. Not only does this put me in danger, but it puts everyone else in danger that is around me at the time this occurs. I live in an area that in the winter time we can see a lot of slick roadways, & I don't know how I'm going to be able to control this if it happens to me in these conditions. I purchased this vehicle under good faith from the dealership to be a sound vehicle, how can I even put my family or friends in it when I know it might get them harmed or even killed if this occurs.

While driving over 60mph if you hit a bump in the road the truck starts to shake violently. The only way to get it stop is to slow down almost to a stop. Extremely dangerous when your on an interstate with 3-5 lanes of cars and have to try and stop. This has happened more than once. First noticed in Sept and has been in the shop at least 2 times going in for the 3rd time on Dec 6,2019

  • 5,200 miles
2019 F250 purchased new in June and drove it for 5000 miles without incident. On Oct. 11th on hwy. 76 in Colorado doing 65 mph hit a small laps between road and bridge about 1-2 inches high and truck shook front end and steering uncontrollably. Had to very slowly decrease speed to 35 before it would stop without being able to steer during that time. Sent to dealer and they replaced a shock on front stablizer with heavier shock. Problem continued with vibration and steering after hitting a bump or dip usually at highway speeds but not as horrific as before. Truck again went into service and I had to ask dealer to check rest of front end and wheels and tires for balance as they told me Ford has no further fix..two wheels were out of balace and were corrected but problem continues and I was given a letter from Ford thru the dealer stating that if a vibration occurs between 3-5 seconds and returns to normal that this is normal operation. I feel if this happens during weather conditions or while pulling my 12,000 lbs. 5th wheel trailer a very serious accident or death may occur as a result of this vibration that is very uncontrollable. Ford continues to deny any problem or offer further recourse.

While driving a 2019 Ford F250 XLT 4X4 down the highway at 75 mph and crossed a bridge and when the truck crossed the expansion joints the truck goes into a violent wobble, steering wheel shakes back and forth violently, like the vehicle is out of control. In order to correct it I had to slow down on the highway to 40 mph to get it to stop. This happened over 10 times traveling from Kansas to Texas. One time it happened with 18 wheelers traveling behind me and next to me and it forced me to exit the highway in order to avoid a serious incident.

On 5 separate occasions traveling on paved roads at speeds from about 50-75 the right front (1 time, 10/17/19) and the left front (4 times, 3 on 10/31/19 and 1 on 11/15/19) tires began to violently shake...it felt like the entire truck was coming apart...this was evidently caused/set off by relatively minor bumps/ripples in the road. I thought I was going to lose control and die or kill someone, but fortunately I've been driving over 40 years so I managed to slow the truck down and keep it going straight in my lane and the violent shaking stopped. I have been informed by Ford that there is an issue with a "front dampener" or something..leading to what my research has shown is known as a 'death wobble"...perfect name...Ford is going to kill someone with this problem! I have been to the dealership 3 times and have a Ford customer service person "helping"....but Ford evidently doesn't know how to fix the problem (that's what the Ford mechanic said) and they are not shipping any parts to the dealers....my dealer is waiting on about 10 parts packages to fix this problem, and they have been waiting for a while....I am behind most of these other people. The Ford customer service person told me there are over 2,000 people waiting for these parts, I suspect many more given how many are a problem at the small dealership I use, with only a couple hundred actually going out to dealers. In the meantime myself and the other 2,000 or so people, at least, are driving these dangerous vehicles. Please make Ford own up and solve this problem! if I could I would park the truck and let it sit, but I have to have transportation...I just hope when it happens again, and I know it will, I don't get killed and I don't kill someone else.

2019 F-250 4X4 "death wobble" at 4,400 miles. I noticed on back roads at 45-55 mph front-end left acting like it was loose on steering, but I don't drive it much. Took a trip and several times (10+) at 65-70 front would wobble a little when hitting small uneven pavement. One time it went into the death wobble and had to do an emergency stop into the median because it was shaking itself apart. Shook so hard the water bottles were about to come out of console. I have called service center and left a message and emailed my service person and no response for 3 weeks now. I don't want to the truck until it is fixed fixed.

Death wobble- freeway driving, uncontrollable, violent shaking, unresponsive steering and brake control. Ford is aware of the problem. I have had in the dealership to resolve the issue, and it was not fixed. I am in fear for my life and my family as well as other drivers on the road as the truck is uncontrollable when this happens. This happened three times on the freeway, and then another after it was taken in to be fixed.

At just over 20K miles on this truck that I purchased new about a year ago: Driving at speed around 70mph after crossing an overpass on a newer highway the front end suddenly and violently started to shake and steering was compromised. I was finally able to pull over to shoulder of this multi-lane highway and when going slow enough the problem disappeared. I checked the tires and undercarriage and found no damage and no warning lights from vehicle. TPMS system showed tire inflations between 59 and 65 psi on all four tires. I resumed driving and problem happened again about 10 miles further down the road. I pulled into the next rest area and did an internet search and found that this is a very well known problem with Ford superduty pickups known as the "death wobble", although other manufacturers have similar problems reported. I've since learned Ford even has a tech srvc bulletin out regarding this issue (tsb 18-2668). I went to the nearest Ford dealership and explained the problem. The dealer said they get 4 to 5 complaints a week like this. We talked in general terms until I mentioned I had found the reference to a death wobble. Upon hearing that the dealer said they could not bring it up, but now that I had mentioned it they were free to discuss the problem. They said Ford has a precise set of processes in place to deal with this problem and they must be followed in sequence. They said first step was to check tire inflation and they also said they should rotate tires. I mentioned that had been done at a different Ford dealer for an oil change about 1K miles earlier. They said it didn't matter so they went ahead with those procedures. They also said the part in the tsb was on national backorder. Problem re-occurred on drive home so problem was not fixed. Have another appt with local Ford dealer in 2 weeks, hopefully tsb parts are in by then.

Experienced violent steering oscillation while traveling straight at 75 mph while crossing a control joint at a highway overpass. The vehicle felt like it was going to shake to pieces and shook until it came to a complete stop. I had no control of the vehicles steering, only braking. I took it to the dealer and they replace the steering stabilizer. The vehicle is already exhibiting wobble after only a few thousand miles since the stabilizer was replaced. I am concerned that the steering and suspension components are not designed correctly or loose.
