There is a known issue with the steering damper which causes the "Death Wobble". On one trip this happened to me three times almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle on the interstate going 70 MPH. I was unable to maintain my lane and swerved into the passing lane. I had to quickly stop the vehicle and pull over causing vehicles behind me to come to an abrupt stop. I had two of my children with me and the vehicle shook so hard that it threw items out of their hands. The dealership inspected the vehicle and stated that the steering damper had no resistance in it and was beyond bad. The replacement part was on indefinite backorder and Ford denied them using an aftermarket part as a replacement. My only option was to wait until the part eventually came in or pay $250 out of pocket to replace it with an aftermarket part. I will not drive the vehicle until the part is replaced. Ford has failed to recognize and fix a major safety issue.

6 July 2022/47,978 miles- local service shop advised me about 2019 Ford F250 steering stabilizer issue when I inquired about 2 new front tires for my vehicle due to uneven wear and noticeable wobble at 65-70 mph. Advised me I should inquire with Ford, solve issue, then get tires and align accordingly. No reason to get new tires just to ruin them. 12 July 2022- Autonation Ford Brooksville, FL diagnosed it was steering stabilizer and ordered. Would call me when part came in to replace it. Early August 2022- Called Autonation to inquire about part. Told part was on "severe backorder". I advised problem was getting worse and tires were considerably worse. Was told they would call or email when part became available. 12 October 2022/52,690 miles- Called Autonation to inquire about part. Told it was projected to be in mid November. Told them problem was way worse. Wobble occurs anywhere from 45-70 mph depending on road surface. Noticeable clunk under various conditions while driving or turning. Advised I was going to park the truck due to safety concerns. Several times, wobble turned into pulling me hard left or right out of driving lane. One incident took me so far into oncoming traffic that the opposing traffic had to turn to avoid hitting me. This is my primary vehicle. I drive approximately 60 miles per day, to and from work.

My 2019 F250 has only 17328 miles today. This month I experienced two dangerous situations. When driving at high speed on the freeway, approx. 60 miles per hour, the steering wheel and the whole front end start an uncontrollable shake and wobble. It feels like the truck is going to be broken into pieces. I was driving at freeway speed in the carpool lane, this sudden wobbling scared me and all my family inside the truck. We thought the truck was going to explode or something. I immediately turned on my emergency light and reduced my speed. The car behind me almost hit my truck. I had to get out of the car pool lane and shift four lines before stopping on the shoulder. I looked into the problem online and found out that many Ford Heavy Duty truck owners like me had similar experiences. I went to a nearby Ford dealer, and the advisor informed me that this problem is known as "Death Wobble" and that Ford is aware of it. However, parts are unavailable, with no ETA! This dangerous issue could cause a vehicle operator to panic and try to reduce speed on the freeway suddenly in order to regain control, but it could also cause the vehicle to collide with a following vehicle or lose control, hitting vehicles nearby. My life and my family's lives could be in danger because of this. I am worried about driving this truck again since this is my work truck. Please help!

Suddenly while driving, the car begins to shake uncontrollably/violently, causing the vehicle to swerve and rapidly rotating the steering wheel to move from side to side, making it difficult to control and causes great fear of trying not to crash. Feels like my vehicle is about to fall part so I feel like I have to hold onto my car for dear life.

While driving on highway at 65 mph, violent shaking in front end began and vehicle steering was inoperable. I had to slow down the vehicle to 10 mph before the violent shaking finally stopped and the ability to steer was regained. If I had been on a curve or had a vehicle behind me, I could have been killed. I was out of town when this occurred and it happened 5 additional times on that trip. This a known issue to Ford because they sent me a letter stating this is a problem. The truck (which was purchased brand new and only has 17,000 miles on it and all original parts) has now been with the dealer for 3 days. They are going to replace the steering damper but have told me that they don't know if it will fix the issue. After doing additional research on my own, I have learned that this issue is actually known as the "death wobble". Why is Ford not recalling these vehicles for this issue? It is extremely dangerous and certainly not what one would expect after paying $80K for a truck.

My F250 started to shake uncontrollably while driving home from the airport on 26 September 2022. The vehicle has just over 20,000 miles on the odometer. The steering wheel shook out of my hands and I had to re-grab the steering wheel while driving at 50 mph. The shaking would not stop. I had to brake carefully because of traffic and pull off the to the shoulder. I merged back into traffic and it started to wobble uncontrollably again at 35 mph. I pulled over again and stopped. I merged back into traffic again and it did not happen again. Since it has just happened, I have not taken it to a Ford Dealership to get worked on. If traffic had not been lite, I am sure this issue would have caused an accident while I was driving 50 mph. I was very scared and was not anticipating this issue. There were no warnings. There should be an immediate recall of all these vehicles and the manufacture should fix or buy the trucks back. I will be notifying my Congressman and Senators.

This is related to Campaign # 20N04 Steering Linkage Damper. Ford is aware of this problem and when I accelerate and hit a bump in the road the whole front end of the truck vibrates uncontrollably and i have to slam on the brakes to get the vehicle under control. I have taken it in to the Ford Dealership in Thomasville and they supposedly have ordered the part. My truck was there for 3 weeks and they did not fix the problem. I have called left messages and they have not returned my calls. I don't feel safe driving the vehicle and they will not give me the status update on when the part is going to come in.

* On September 14, 2022, while driving Canada 2 near Fredericton at approximately 65 MPH, I crossed an overpass expansion joint at which time my 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty steering started oscillating violently (the well know -€œDeath Wobble-€). The truck had to be slowed and stopped on the road side to stop the oscillation. The truck is scheduled for inspection on September 28, 2022 at Waldorf Ford of Maryland. * My wife and I both were at risk as we were in the middle of tractor trailer traffic while trying to regain control of the steering and move the truck to safety. * The steering oscillation repeated itself 3 more times traveling from Canada to Maryland to return home from travel. I was able to minimize the effect by keeping my speed under 55 MPH. * The truck is scheduled for inspection by a Ford Service Center, Waldorf Ford of Maryland on September 28, 2022. * There were no warnings of any kind prior to the steering oscillation.

I was forced to immediately reduce my speed to avoid total loss of control, almost causing an accident. Driving down the road at around 70 mph, hit a small bump in the road. My truck-€™s driver side front tire started to uncontrollably shake to the point I had to slow my vehicle extremely fast to prevent losing control. This is the second time it has happened at a high rate of speed. Both times I hit a bump in the road then it started to uncontrollably shake. After the first time (2021) I paid to have my mechanic change out the steering stabilizer shock and it seemed to help. I am guessing I will have to have the steering stabilizer shock replaced once again to prevent this from happening.

Death wobble, steering extremely violent and difficult in heavy traffic with a need to slow down immediately. Risk to me and everyone around me because of the loss of control. The truck wouldn-€™t stop vibrating/shaking/bouncing until I came to a complete stop in the middle median of an interstate highway. Stopped to look at the truck and didn-€™t see anything. Tried again and it happened a second time. The road was rough and has some uneven places. ( I-65 south between Louisville and Elizabethtown Kentucky.)

Death Wobble: At speeds above 55mph the vehicle becomes uncontrollable after encountering bumps in the road that initiate the death wobble. The wobble becomes more uncontrollable until you can get the vehicle stopped - to zero mph. This was very dangerous in heavy Denver I25 traffic where your ability to stop was constrained by adjacent vehicles. It also occurred in construction zones with rough pavement and no shoulders or places to get off road. Having to hit the skids in the middle of freeway traffic posted with an 80mph speed limit, is life threatening, for my vehicle and the other drivers. Ford is well aware of this problem - the internet has many videos explaining how to fix it. Ford needs to get this done before someone is killed. I cannot drive the vehicle above 55mph.

The vehicle steering whips uncontrollably while driving over road imperfections (bumps, potholes, road transitions, etc.). Nearly lost control of the vehicle while driving in our neighborhood at ~35 mph when I hit a bump in the road. After researching, many people have reported this as the -€œdeath wobble.-€ I have not taken the vehicle to the dealer yet as I initially thought it was an isolated issue. It has now occurred multiple times and clearly creates an unsafe driving situation. There are no warning lights or signals but the problem is easily reproduced by driving the vehicle at ~35 mph or more over bumps in the road. I-€™ve had the issue occur on the highway at 70 mph and it could easily move the truck into another lane. I feel strongly that this should be throughly inspected immediately as it poses life-threatening conditions to drivers, passengers, and oncoming or nearby drivers.
