The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced the death wobble, causing the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic. The contact was able to pull over. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced the damper on the steering linkage. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

On a recent trip I experienced violent shaking to the front end of my Ford F250 Super Duty truck. It typically occurred at speeds over 65 miles per hour. It happened after going over bumps or grooves in the road. To stop the shaking, I had to quickly slow way down or even stop completely.

Driving on highway at 65 mph, hit expansion joint bump--relatively large bump--and experienced the "death wobble" of the steering wheel shaking violently and seeming loss of control (no sway or pull, but difficulty holding the steering wheel itself). Had to slow to almost 40 MPH in highway traffic to regain stability/control of vehicle. Vehicle has ~18000 miles on it at time of incident. No warning lamps or messages. I have not had the vehicle in yet for inspection.

When traveling at about 55 mph I hit a rough patch in the road on Missouri Hwy 30. The truck started shaking, shimming, bouncing, and wobbling severely, and kept on doing so for an extended period of time and distance traveled. I'm guessing another 100 yards or so. I was able to keep control, but had to slow down and pull over to get it stopped and to get my self calmed down too. It has not happened again as dramatically, but I've been very carefully avoiding road hazards. It does shake more than usual with any unevenness in the pavement. The dealers locally say 6-8 weeks to get an appointment to look at it. Ridiculous!

The front end suspension causes the entire front end to shake uncontrollably then travels to bed of the vehicle. It makes the vehicle difficult to control, and we have had to stop or slow to below 40 mph to gain control.

On multiple occasions now I have experienced the F-250 "Death Wobble" while driving on the interstate. After hit a regular sized bump in the road the vehicle begins shaking violently, feeling as though a tire has blown. In both instances I was driving the speed limit (70 mph). The entire truck shakes violently, specifically the front end, cab, steering. Only by slowing down quickly does the shaking stop. It is extremely dangerous as it feels like I will lose control of the vehicle. On both occasions I stopped an inspected for tire or wheel damage and saw none. I could have easily lost control of the vehicle and caused serious injury or death. I had the alignment done on the vehicle when I bought it late last year - there were no issues/concerns from the technicians. There are no warnings or messages in either instance. Initially, I thought the first time it happened was a one time occurrence and I was the only one in the vehicle. The second time my family was in the vehicle with me, they were very scared.

The front end of the vehicle started shaking violently. I almost lost control of the vehicle while driving 65mph due to this. I had to slow down to 20mph on the highway to get the steering wheel and front end to stop the violent shakes. This problem is extremely dangerous and I hope it never has to be reproduced. I have an appointment with the dealer in a few days. Their suggested repair is to replace the steering damper. There were no warning lights, messages, or system errors with the vehicle.

While driving at approximately 65 mph, I experienced an extremely violent front end wobble that shook the entire front end of my truck. Steering control was greatly affected and I had to slow down below 40 mph before it quit. I continued on my way to work not exceeding 50 mph. This was a very traumatic and unnerving experience. Luckily, I was on a straight away portion of the highway. I do not think I could have maintained my lane if I had been in a curve. Fortunately, vehicles around me were not close by in case I had totally lost steering control. No other vehicles were affected. My truck had less than 35,000 miles on it at the time of occurrence. Prior to this episode, my steering was largely unaffected. I took my truck to the local dealer to get this fixed. The steering damper was replaced. No other components were replaced at this time. Time will tell if this is the cure.

We were driving on the highway 74 in NC going roughly 65 mph and passed over some bumps in the roadway. The truck went into a violent jerking of the steering wheel back and forth and would not stop until we slowed down and pulled off the freeway. This has now happened approximately 5 times. We no longer feel safe to drive on the freeway at highway speeds nor do we feel safe pulling our horse trailer. Pulling horse trailers is the reason we bought the truck. My daughter, who is a relatively new driver, was driving and this was very frightening to both of us. This is very unsafe and any trucks that could potentially have this issue need to be recalled and fixed free of charge to the consumer.

While driving this 2019 F-250 truck, all of a sudden the truck began to shake violently. Not only the whole truck, but the steering wheel was shaking violently as well. I was scared to death. This has happened on the interstate where I was in the left lane passing a tractor trailer and no sooner did I get passed then my truck began this "Death Wobble." I had no place to pull over to my left, so I had to pull right in front of the truck that I just passed, braking as hard as I could while moving to the right shoulder. An extremely dangerous situation. I can only imagine if this had happened to my wife! Fortunately, I had read about this condition prior to it happening. My truck only has 15,000 miles on it. This Death Wobble has been around since 2005 on Ford F-250 trucks, yet Ford and their dealers seem to pretend that they know nothing about it. And yes, I have had this safety hazard occur several times. This is a very serious safety issue. You have no warning lights or signals that the death wobble is imminent. I can even reproduce it if need be. It has happened several times since December 2021. You can see many incidents of this by either searching on line or by going to YouTube and typing in Death Wobble.

I believe there may be a defect in either the steering or front suspension system. when traveling at 70 MPH or higher the vehicle will violently shake and feels as if the tires are bouncing off the pavement when the truck drives over an expansion joint on an overpass. The bouncing/ shaking escalates within seconds and feels as if the truck will destroy itself. the truck needs to be stopped for the bouncing to stop and feels as if there is very little control over the steering of the vehicle. the problem is reproduced frequently and i have had to lower my speed before reaching overpasses. The vehicle will be scheduled for a service soon. The dealer mentioned something about adding a steering dampener to resolve the issue. there are no warning lamps or alarms. The issue would happen daily if i did not reduce my speed. The issue is serious especially if there are others on the highway and you need to stop quickly to get the vehicle under control. The first time the issue appeared was at about 36000 miles and is more frequent now at 40,000 miles.

I have experienced the death wobble/steering shaking issue with my 2019 F250 previously, but the latest incident was the worst as it happened while towing my camper. I was initially driving at around 60mph, drove over a small bump and the wobble started. The only way I know of to stop the wobble is to slow down immediately to around 25mph, this is very dangerous obviously as you have less control due to the wobbling, and quickly slowing down on a busy four lane highway endangers others. The steering did the same wobble six times during my 150 mile trip, one time so severe I could not see straight as the vehicle was wobbling so hard. I purchased my truck around a year ago with 26k miles, it now has around 36k miles - no where near enough miles in my opinion for the steering components to be worn out. I have experienced the issue since I purchased the truck, I had not fixed it myself as I was waiting for the manufacturer to issue a recall and fix the truck.
