Driving at 65 mph and hit a bump in the road causing excessive shaking and vibration in the steering wheel (Death Wobble).

I was driving on the Interstate on 8-23-2022 at approximately 1:00pm. As I crossed a bridge deck, the vehicle started shaking violently. It was hard to hold onto the steering wheel. The problem stopped when I pulled onto the shoulder and slowed way down. I called Beartooth Ford in Columbus, MT and reported the issue. They were very aware of what the issue was. They advised me that there was a recall that would fix it. I stopped at their business and they recorded the VIN and mileage of my vehicle. I do have a live video of the incident happening a second time but this system won-??t allow me to attach it.

We were traveling on the interstate at 70 MPH, hit a bump in the road and all of a sudden the truck began to shake causing the truck and attached camper to sway uncontrollable. We swerved and were able to get the truck slowed down and to the left shoulder of the road. It was very scary for my family. Luckily we were able to control the truck and not cause an accident. This has happened one other time while camper was attached. The truck is going to the dealership Friday August 19th for the current recall Manufacturer Recall Number22S09 NHTSA Recall Number22v087. The dealership is also going to replace a steering dampener

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated he experienced the "death wobble" on four occasions in a single day. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and drive to his destination. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,600.

While towing my 15,500 GVWR fifth wheel at approximately 60 mph on the 210 fwy in a construction zone I encountered some very rough asphalt repairs just on the drivers side of the lane. I had a, close to the lane, K-rail on the passenger side and one lane next to me on the drivers side with a K-rail on the drivers side of that lane. When I hit the rough pavement my wheels started to oscillate violently back and forth and pulled me about 3 feet into the next lane on the drivers side. Luckily there was not anyone in the lane at the time. I forced the wheel to the right and straightened out when I got back in the right lane but the "Death Wobble" continued so I slowed down to about 35 mph and the wobbling finally stopped. The rest of the 3 day trip I stayed at or below 55 mph to be safe. I could have been much worse had there been someone in the next lane or if it had pulled me to the right into the K-rail. Someone could have been injured or killed. I took the truck to Upland ford in California and they said that the steering stabilizer, both drag links and the track bar needed to be replaced but that the stabilizer was on back order. I also took it to Sunrise Ford in Fontana California, where I bought the truck, and they confirmed that I needed the exact same things plus they included that the tie rods needed to be replaced. I have about 22,200 miles on the truck and it is out of the factory warranty. I have an extended warranty with Portfolio Protection and Sunrise Ford had 2 different inspectors from Portfolio come out and inspect the front suspension to authorize repairs. They would only authorize replacing one of the drag links. Before this incident I did feel that the steering had, slowly over time, started to feel a little loose when I hit smaller bumps. There were no warning lamps that came on. I am afraid to drive the truck especially pulling my fifth wheel trailer.

My truck has the death wobble. This is the 3rd time I have tried to fix it. Now, my local Ford dealership says they cannot duplicate the problem. This is very dangerous. At any given time, I am going to have a wreck. It is not an -??if-??, but a -??when-??. I have no choice but to drive my truck like it is. I had to get Ford manufacturer-??s to help me last year.

The truck began shaking uncontrollably at approximately 70mph.. fortunately I was in the right lane, and traffic wasn-??t very busy, and I was able to get the truck off the side of the road without creating an accident.. I have owned the truck since it was new, and have not experienced any issue until now! The truck has just over 40,000 miles on it. Took truck to dealership to be inspected and they said everything looks good.. but they also said that the part that I needed was on back order. At the current time I-??m waiting on repairs to be made, but I am very uneasy about the safety of the vehicle now..

The truck violently shakes at about 47 MPH for unknown reasons. The dealership that I purchased it At's service writer stated that there a multitude of reporting's for this very issue but the volume of complaints prevents them from even diagnosing the problem for several months. Also if I required a loaner vehicle it would be even longer. I have already spent about $1500 of my own money trying to address this problem through a different front end mechanical specialty shop. The service writer at Don Chalmers Ford in Rio Rancho, New Mexico also stated that from my warranty and service policy the problem could be covered. I use my tuck to pull a trailer for my business and this problem is having a negative impact on my business.

Truck shakes violently when encountering uneven pavement at speeds in excess of 55mph. Difficult to keep the vehicle in the road when this happens and speed must be reduced to <35mph for it to subside. Unsafe activity to need your take when traveling on highway. Please consider issuing a recall for this -??death wobble-?? before someone is hurt or killed.

Truck has what is now commonly called the "Death Wobble". This is, unfortunately, a common problem with F250 Super Duty trucks. This is a very dangerous loss of control at typical highway speeds. Uncontrollable shaking after hitting minor roadway bumps at speed. The fact that Ford is fully aware of the issue and has not done a recall is hard to believe. Do people have to die on the road because Ford won't recognize this issue? My truck has only 22,000 miles on it but is off warranty as 3 years have passed since date of purchase, low miles due to Covid! I have been told by Ford that some some of the trucks are covered but, unfortunately, mine is not. I guess only the broken ones aren't covered...

Driving on interstate and all of a sudden the truck began to shake uncontrollably, so much so I could not hold the wheel. I some how managed not to hit anyone or anything and got it off on to the side of the road. I cut the tuck off, checked to see if anything look broke or if I blew out both front tires. I experienced the death wobble at highway speeds of 70mph 4 times in less then one week on a vacation trip. Luckily it was on straight sections of the road. It requires slamming on the breaks and slowing the speed to less the 25mph to get the vehicle back under control. Extremely dangerous and should be immediate recall! When traveling at highway speed, experienced the "death wobble". The front end and steering wheel shakes violently making steering impossible. Slow down to about 40mph and it stops. This has occurred 3 times when hitting a bump. Occurred once with just the truck and twice while pulling a 5th wheel. Ford dealer replaced tie rod ends etc but still Occurred after that, now waiting on a new steering damper.

At highway speeds (65-70 mph) if a pot hole or rough expansion joint is hit the vehicle begins to shake violently. Very difficult to control and steer. When breaking gets down to about 45 mph the violent shaking stops.

3rd time in a week- Death Wobbke while driving in heavy traffic. This is not safe!! No warning light ms our sounds- just starts violently shaking while driving out of the blue. In order to make it stop- you have to immediately slow down and pull over. This is challenging in that while driving at a high speed (within speed limits) on a major Hwy, you cannot just slow down immediately or pull over immediately. In addition, it happens so quickly and is so violent (major shaking and wobble) that you are taken off guard and driving becomes unsafe for ourselves and for drivers around you. Ford is aware of this problem. Our mechanics don-??t have a fix all solution. For the price you pay for this vehicle, the consumer should not have to pay for a fix like this, even if there was one. This is NOT safe.

We started having a death wobble while driving between 60-70mph where the steering wheel shook Violently and the vehicle shook so back it hurt and scared me and my kids in the back seat. It was very scary and almost caused me to wreck with my kids in the car on the interstate. We then looked up and saw there was a recall for this problem. We took the truck into a dealership and got it supposedly repaired. It did not work. Roughly 1 month later. I was trusting Ford fixed the issue and on the interstate again and almost wrecked a second time with the kids in the car. This truck shouldn-??t be allowed on the road of ford doesn-??t have a fix. My business partner has the exact same truck and the exact same scenario occurred where he got the issue fixed at a dealership after almost crashing only to have it happen again. Currently we don-??t know what to do as we paid big bucks for a vehicle that isn-??t safe to drive, R. Clites
