Piece of sh*t Ford Fusion! First problem was ECM/PCM, then alternator and low tire indicator lights remain on even after having repaired. Now brakes! And Ford recalls floor mats?? What the hell! Come on Ford fix your sh*t! Will never buy another Ford! Wouldn't take one if I was offered a new one free of charge. One problem right after another!

While on the road the brakes wouldn't let me stop almost ran into a snow plow. Anxious every time I drive my car. Needs recall for the Hydraulic Control Unit.

I was coming home from a graduation party with my children in the vehicle. Came up to two traffic circles. First one was a breeze, the second one we almost crashed. Went over a rumble strip at about 20 mph, braked due to a negligent driver and lost ALL brakes, Had to steer away from destroying my car on the concrete slab inside the circle, had to use my Emergency brake to stop. Pulled over, in a panic, and pumped the brakes. They NEVER came back fully. The brakes depressed all the way to the floor and would not regain the pressure. I took it to a shop, whom insisted it was a Master Cylinder issue. Replaced the Master Cylinder at $450 to find out that it didn't fix the problem. Inspected the brake pads, rotors, calipers, and brake lines.. No fix found as of yet and its been a week. ABS module is next to replace but it doesn't seem that will work either. I am spending countless dollars and being stuck without a vehicle for something that Ford CLEARLY should have recalled by now. I guess someone has to die before they will issue a recall?? So far probably about $1500 in and still can't determine the problem.

Have had brakes go soft about 4 times after anti-lock brakes activated. Cannot seem to get answer to problem because cannot get problem to happen consistently to show car repair guy. I wish Ford would admit they messed up and figure out fix and tell consumers.

Brakes go all the way to the floor before stopping. This happened right after ABS engaged.

The brakes go crazy on ice or snow. This has happened for years, so I hate to drive this car in snow. I would have to pump the brakes as they would go to the floor and it was hard to stop. However in the last month, the condition has become permanent, the brakes have to be pumped and it often goes to the floor. It requires more time and distance to stop and is a safety concern. I was looking to see if this has happened to anyone else and found this site! Wow! Not just my car. I am going to call a dealer but from reading other people's complaints the dealers don't necessarily know what is causing this problem. I need help!

Engaged brakes while driving on some loose gravel and the ABS kicked on. When this happened i had absolutley no brakes and pedal went to floor and i almost hit the car in front on me had to swerve off the road to miss. After that i pretty much still have no brakes. When i press the brake pedal it goes 95% to the floor then engages the brake. Very scary glad it happened to me and not my wife. I can't believe there is no recall on this really big issue. THERE BRAKES. Sad that ford is waiting for people to die over this issue before they fix it.

My son complained to me about his 2009 Ford Fusion and the brake response after ABS system was initiated. He said if he was driving on wet, snowy, or icy roads and used the brakes the vehicle would go into ABS mode and the Left Front Wheel would lock up and the braking system would not respond until the Fusion came almost to a stop. After that the brakes seem to work ok. I then took the Fusion for a test ride and at 40 mph slammed on the brakes. The Fusion immediately went into ABS mode (ABS LIGHT CAME ON) AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. The left front wheel locked up and the brake pedal was non responsive even after pumping the brake pedal. Once the vehicle slowed to almost a stop the left front wheel released and the brakes returned to normal. He had take the Fusion back to the dealership and they replaced the master cylinder to no avail! I tested the Fusion again and experienced the same result, L/F Wheel locked up and released once the Fusion was almost stopped. I believe Ford knows there is an issue with the Fusion brake system but are ignoring a potentially hazardous issue.

Once a whole, the brake will be loose and I need to push all the way down to stop the car.

I have a 2009 Ford Fusion SEL. After spending $700 on all new brakes. Calipers, Rotors, Pads, Master Cylinder. The brakes are still mushy and goes all the way to the floor with limited braking power. Forget it if you have to slam on the brakes. This all happened when I was stopping at a red light on wet pavement. There was a pothole in front of the red light. After hitting pothole, ABS kicked in and immediately made the pedal go to the floor making my run the red light. After fixing all things that I thought could be wrong, come to find out this is FORD'S problem. How do you allow one of YOUR SAFETY features fail almost causing people to die but do not issue a recall?

ABS light comes on intermittently then goes away every since the abs activated during a rain storm and then the pedal went soft. This originally occurred during a rain storm on a wet road. The car did not stop properly and almost resulted in an accident with the car in front of me.

we had a light snow dusting with just a little freezing, on the way home 1/6/2017, was slowing down to turn right on my road when ABS system engaged and locked was totally unable to stop. If there had been anyone in front of me I would have hit them.I had to keep driving, pumping brakes to finally stop and turn. This happened again a few minutes later making another turn,Finally made it home. Now my brakes(what little I have) are spongy and go to the floor to stop.I even tried removing battery cable to reset computer but that didn't work. This week I took it to a reliable auto mechanic who pulled off all my wheels, checked entire brake system.Said my brake pads look new also.He was unable to find anything wrong with my brakes except the ABS system. He informed me Ford has had a ton of problems with this year model car ...My car was not the first that had been brought in the preceding weeks for exact same issue, the only solution he told me was Ford has to fix it because they have to reprogram it afterwards.... then he dropped the bombshell! The cost would be $2000.00!! Who can afford this? I can't so I'm still driving around with what little brakes I have. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT!!! Consumer safety is the issue so why doesn't Ford do something?

Consider this complaint #116 to the NTSA. I have spent over $600 to replace the master cylinder, pads, fluid, ABS module (which I had to ship out to a specialist that told me it was "fried", but the new (rebuilt and tested) one did not fix the problem) and there has not been any improvement. The brakes are still spongy and the brakes do not engage until depressing the brake pedal almost to the floor. Unlike other complaints, this is like this all of the time.

Bought new 2009 Ford Fusion June 2009 .No problems until Sept.20,2015 ABS light on replaced brake pads ( 84000 miles ) Light on again replace all 4 Rotors, calipers & Abs sensors Jan.3,2016 ( 87430 miles) August 29,2016 ABS light on again, code read bad sensor L/R replace ( 93251 miles )

Still didn't feel right, took to another shop,( 96610 ) They replaced 4 tires. Still didn't ride right took it back mechanic said it was a caliper holding. Replaced left front caliper & rotor.. worked fine for a month. Now pedal is soft as described by others. No ABS light on, fuses ok ( 99500 miles ) Ford must know when to screw up your car. .Had a Toyota, sold it 90k miles, new owner has 250k on it Thinking about buying a Chevorlet.or Toyota, sorry Mr. Trump.
Does anyone see a pattern ???

This problem has occurred several times over the past year. The car is currently at the Ford dealer with mechanics who are desperately trying to get it in a condition where it is safe for me to drive. They have had the car for four days. When pressing the brake pedal while driving over a small pothole or slightly damp surface, the ABS system engages. The brake pedal feels and sounds as though it is grinding and pushing back on my foot, and the car does not stop. Each time this has happened, my instincts have been to push the brake pedal as hard as I can to avoid hitting the car in front of me. As I am pressing the brake pedal, it continues to fight with me while making grinding noises before dropping to the floor. The car eventually comes to a stop. I have nearly been in several accidents, due to the car's inability to stop in a timely manner. Currently, the car does not stop in a timely manner even on dry, even road surfaces. The pedal is spongy and makes sounds like air is being pumped in and out of the braking system. The pedal travels. I have to press it to the floor to get some type of action that eventually stops the car. If you take your chances with driving the car, you have to know well ahead of time when you will have to stop the car in order to avoid crashing into another car or object. This is a very unsafe situation. Over the past four days, the mechanics at the Ford dealer have replaced the calipers and bled the braking system. They have been using a scan tool to try to get all of the air out of the system, but have had no success. They report that the pedal is still spongy and drops to the floor. I was told by a non-Ford mechanic that the car needs a new hydraulic control unit (HCU), and the mechanics at Ford have agreed. They tell me that the part costs 1,000 dollars. I have taken very good care of the car. I "baby" it. It has been a reliable vehicle, other than this major issue. The HCU is faulty and must be recalled. An internet search proves that many 2008 and 2009 Ford Fusion drivers are experiencing the exact same situation. Currently, my car is useless and I have two more years of payments to make on it. Ford needs to provide a well-built, well-functioning HCU. The 2008 and 2009 Ford Fusions will be one of the highest quality vehicles with this one simple and absolutely imperative manufacturer recall. There have been too many close calls and we are fortunate that someone has not been killed or seriously injured. Ford's reputation is certainly suffering due to its hesitation with recalling the HCU.

After the ABS kicked in (due to hard braking and tire crossing a manhole cover), the brake pedal appears to go all the way to the floor and brakes pedal feels very spongy and ineffective. I put the car into park and pumped the brakes and they appeared to mostly recover. After a few days of stop and go driving, the brakes appear to be normal again. This has happened on multiple occasions (at least 4 times) across the last year, always after ABS kicks in. From researching this condition it sounds like the ABS HCU is at fault and repair cost is over $1000. Unfortunately, most of the people reporting this get an incorrect diagnosis like master cylinder replacement prior to the HCU being diagnosed as the cause.

This has happened twice now where the ABS engage and the brakes are spongy. Such a horrible feeling thinking you are going to crash. I saw all of these same complaints on line and couldn't believe that Ford has not done a recall.
I called Ford to complain, but since there are no recalls they do nothing, I said so you are waiting for someone to die first. I called the National Highway, Traffic, Safety Admin 1-888-327-4236 and put in a complaint, if you haven't done so do it now. Not sure if this will help but maybe it will. The more complaints about the 2008 and 2009 Fusion brake problem. My dealer said bring it in for diagnostics for $135, but if it's not happening we might not see anything and will have to keep it to see if it happens.
So please if you are having this problem call in your complaints so we can all be safe. Lets not let Ford get away with this.

I am unfortunately the owner of a 2009 Ford Fusion which has a spongy/soft/low brake pedal problem and I am over spending money on repairs! My local Ford dealership advised me that replacing the master cylinder may not correct the problem and that the HCU may be the real culprit. I chose the less expensive option of replacing the master cylinder and brake booster but the problem persists. In looking on the web, this issue appears to be affecting a number of Fusion owners and Ford should issue a recall! This is a really big safety issue!!

Almost wrecked the car with my kids in it because after the abs kicked in from going over a grate coming into the gas station, the car had mush for brakes and didn't want to stop for crap. This isn't the first time that this has happened in the last 3 months.

STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, HIT A BUMP. BRAKES WENT OUT AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE. NOW I SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP
