I have 2 2010 Ford Fusions, Both Door handles have broken on both vehicles. Will cause the door to not latch properly. Safety concern. Fords disregard for the situation is unbelievable. they tell me "yeah that happens, just replace the handle "

Absolutely disgusting, I have nothing but safety issues with the cars.

Door handle broke this morning on the way to work. I have Googled a few prices for a replacement. It won't cost more than 30 bucks. And found a video on Youtube that shows how to replace it yourself. Seems simple enough.

This is significant safety issue as well as a major annoyance. If you can't roll down the window you cannot open the door and even then it takes time that you might not have. Hate to be killed because a dollar plastic part failed.

This is the second time I was not able to get out of my car's driver door because of the door handle. First time the handle broke off in my hand (3 years ago) and that was under warranty since it was only 1 year old. This time the handle didn't break off, it has lost tension to open it. You pull the handle and nothing happens. Once again, in order to get out, I had to manually unlock the doors, roll down my window and reach my arm out the window to open from outside. Pretty embarrassing since it is only 4 years old.

This was in November 2013 while they were changing my oil, I was told they notified the service department, it started that the left passenger door would not shut, had to hold it shut within the back seat, then both back seat handles jammed had to open from outside. In June of 2014, I had 35,898 on my car, the drivers side would turn, go thru the motions, but I had to roll down the window and unlock from outside and roll up the window back up to lock. So when the a/c stopped putting out ,still since November of 2013 the service department never called for an appointment to replace the locks on the doors. the a/c had gotten worse and I went in, and had the oil changed, paid to have the service of the a/c which was $80.76.

By August 12th 2014 , my mileage read 36,338. Now Monday ,September 22,2014, I told the about the a/c that was just serviced 5weeks ago, worse than ever and reminded them about my door locks. November 2013, the service department said to me my mileage is now 37,989 and the 36,000 bumper to bumper, the warranty isn't there. I feel cheated, because the service department was aware of the problem, waited until the mileage was over 36,000. My ford fusion is in the shop now. We know about the $100 deductible, now I was told the door handle will cost me $70 or more, and this is our 6th Ford my husband drives an 2002 Ford Explorer and has 62,000 miles and its 12 years old in October, this is the worst job fro the service department, I feel scammed, for me to go over 36,000, I've had my Fusion 50 months

interior door handle broke interior door handle broke

While opening my driver door from the inside Monday morning, I was surprised to hear a loud SNAP! and a TWING! come from my interior door handle. Instantly I knew something was wrong. The door handle hung limply out from its pocket and the lock would not engage unless I physically held the handle in position first, while pressing the lock tab. My cheerful, caring Ford Dealer offered me a $300 estimate to fix the problem (If you can believe THAT!) Sigh. No thanks. Guess I'm on my own here. I tried to disassemble the door, but the thing is built like a Chinese puzzle box with several hidden screws, numerous inscrutable attachment points and close to a dozen hidden clips. Needless to say, I am sorely disappointed in Ford over the quality of materials they chose. Who the heck goes with PLASTIC for a friggen door HANDLE! and then cromes it to look like metal?!! Ford has cut one too many corners there, and as a result have likely lost me as a customer. The engineer who first suggested this bone-headed idea should get slapped up along side the head, along with all the others in that conference room who thought is was a great idea. I will definitely be considering other manufactures when the time comes to trade this car in. Plastic door handles are one head-ache I do not need and did not have to have.

My interior driver side door handle broke today. Took the door panel off, only to find the handle had completely broke internally!! And our local dealer does not have the part. So I have to wait for them to order the damn thing in. Now I get to either roll down my driver window to open my door with the exterior handle, or crawl thru the passenger door!! Why on earth would a company put cheap plastic parts in a car?!? I have seen kids toys made out of stronger plastic than the fort handle on my Ford Fusion!! I'm definitely looking at other brands for my next car (KIA or Volkswagen)!

The PremiumCare Extended Service Plan does not cover this, it should be a recall item because everybody who owns one will have this problem. Quality is not job #1 at Ford or I wouldn't be writing about this. The spring tension on the plastic handle brakes the plastic after time. there is no reason other than a cheap f_____ part. The new part is $58.00 and the labor to do it is $115.00. You must remove the interior door panel to make the repair. Pain in the ass!!!! I am thinking HYUNDIA or KIA

it was working in the early am on that day then about 11:30am my sister couldn't open the door from the inside. the drivers side door will not open from the inside and it will not lock. either you have to roll down the window if it is not stuck due to the cold to let your self out. or the person that is riding with you has to come around and open the door for you. that really sucks.

The door handle locking system on the drivers side door broke on my Ford Fusion. I went on the Internet and a lot of people are having this problem. It is over $200 to replace and I have complained to Ford Canada and they won't do anything since I am over my warranty by 7 months (3 yrs or 60,000 kms) even though I only have 41,772 kms on my car. This should be a recall/safety issue. I have received no satisfaction. The dealership offered to give me 10% off parts/labour but that is it. I think this should be a recall issue.
