Never had issues with my car since I had it. But over the past year the cars brakes, if you keep your foot on the pedal, over time it will slowly go closer to the floor. I could stop, but the brakes felt squishy. Biggest problem though is my brakes were working fine, no warning lights, nothing.. Park car turn it off, go into store, come back out and my brakes are not working. The pedal goes right to floor. I had to use my emergency brake to stop. I took car to shop and they said the ABS control module needs replaced. This is a common issue with the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrids.. But there doesnt seem to be a recall on it. He even said when he checked the information there is a recall on that ABS control unit, but when you call Ford, they say my particular VIN number is not covered. This is nonsense, because I am having the same identical issue with the other Ford fusion and cars that have this same exact part in it. When I went to go pick up my car, now the brakes are working. It makes no sense. Will they go out again on me at any given time? This is a major concern and danger to me and those around me if they go out while I am driving. Please make FORD include this VIN number make and model be recalled for the repair. Thank you

After the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) was engaged, the braking system was spongy, in that the pedal would almost reach the floor before the brakes started working. It has happened several times, but has gotten worse recently, three times in the past six months. One time it happened when I went over a speed bump. I have to be extremely careful when this happens. Once the vehicle sits overnight it seems to clear up. I try not to use the ABS, but it is winter now and this morning someone pulled out in front of me, and I had to use the brakes aggressively. Again, the braking system became spongy. I am hoping by the end of work today it has been remedied for now. After it happens, I am extremely careful about following other cars, for fear of hitting them. It takes longer to stop because of this. I bought the car through the Military overseas program and finding somebody to look at an American car in Korea has been hard. Something is wrong with the ABS.

Hi. I-??m the owner of 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. VIN: [XXX] Recently, I almost got crushed while I was driving, because I suddenly could not use brakes-??this is happened because of the known ABS issue with this car (I called my mechanic, he diagnosed the issue and it is with ABS Module and it is under a recall and should be fixed by a dealer). However, when I got my car to the dealership, I was surprised that it is not a recall for a Hybrid version of Ford Fusion my year and I have to pay from my own pocket almost $5,000 for part and labor. I do not understand why, it is unfair. This is the known issue for a very long time for so many people. It should be recalled and fixed. You can die while you-??re driving!!! Here is one of the topics on a forum about this issue: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle loses all brakes while driving. With multiple warning lights coming on to include brake light, traction control. The problems completely match ford's current recall number 19s54 which this vehicle was not included in. This issue is intermittent.

The component that has failed is the ABS antilock brake pump. Many Ford fusions of the same year (2010) have a recall for this. However, according to my vin, there is no recall. The antilock brake system completely locked up while driving there were no prior incidents. No brake lights no inclination that the antilock brake pump had any issues. When the antilock brake pump stopped working, it almost caused a serious accident. It was as if, though we were hydroplaning we had no control over the Car. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the car went directly into a field. There was myself, my daughter, my son, and a friend four week old baby in the car!! my son is still having nightmares even though this happened a couple weeks ago! He is autistic and eight years old. This is extremely scary. I had absolutely no control over the car The brake pedal went all the way to the floor. The problem has been reported to the dealer however, even though I have a 2010 it is not reported for a recall. The vehicle component has been inspected by a licensed mechanic. There were no previous morning signs no dash lights no issue with the ABS system at all. The car has been maintained regularly. The car has not been fixed because we didn-??t know what the problem was until last week.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

ABS Advancetrac system failure results in extended brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The condition does not result in a loss of braking function and the vehicle can be brought to a controlled stop

Took my vehicle in on 09/01/2023 for the recall # 19S54 ABS HCU Valve Concern. Prior to this, there were no warning signs and my brakes worked fine. My car failed the test. They replaced the part that was recalled. Since then, my car has no brakes. Brakes go to the floor, making it nearly impossible to stop in time or even in an emergency. I do not feel safe driving my vehicle. The dealership has had the car for over two months with no resolution. I need answers.

The brakes quit working without warning. My foot went straight to the floor before engaging any sort of resistance and the emergency brake was needed to bring the car to a complete stop. I-??ve checked the VIN lookup, and there IS a recall for this exact same car, same year and everything, but for some reason my VIN isn-??t pulling it up.. it matches the recall currently in file for the 2010 ford fusion brake problems. How do we get ford to expand their recall to actually include all defective vehicles??

On August 31, 2023, my car had break services that included all four breaks replaced and serviced at Ford dealer Oxnard, CA. Today, 9/27/23, on the way to the doctor's office on the local street, about half a block's distance to a Stop sign, the Traction Control System light flipped on and the breaks turned loose and started speeding up toward a women pushing a baby carriage crossing the street. The breaks didn't respond so I quickly turned to the turning lane to avoid hitting that woman and baby carriage. What I wanted to know is, normally, when the TCS fails, the car speed would slow down. But in my situation, the car, as if had a mind of its own, speeding up toward that woman crossing the street pushing a baby carriage! Is the speeding caused by the TCS suddenly turning loose while I had my foot on the break, so released its energy, or is the 2010 Ford Fusion can be installed remote control and remotely manipulated by someone with malicious intention to cause injury? Since this type of situation can impact many drivers and could cause serious injuries to drivers and pedestrians, I ask for a investigation into what could have caused this danger, so to prevent it from happening again. Thanks much! [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

All of the ABS and parking brake lights come on and won't go off. We took it to a Henderson Ford, and they said our Anti-Lock Brake Module failure. They have to order a new part and it will be a long time before to get the part. I heard there was a recall on 2010 ABS Brake system, but when I put in VIN number it says there is no recall.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. On two separate occasions when we started the vehicle the ABS, traction control, and the brake light warning lights came on. After putting the vehicle in drive and moving forward slowly (less than 10 mph) in a parking lot the dashboard warning lights remained on and the brake pedal was almost completely ineffective when depressed despite being pushed to the floorboard. The vehicle rolled to a stop in one instance and in the other the vehicle was stopped with extreme pressure on the brake and using the emergency brake lever. After the first incident we had the vehicle brakes inspected by an independent mechanic who replaced the brake fluid. After the second incident we brought the vehicle to a Ford dealer who charged $200 to conduct an inspection. This inspection showed the problem to be -??code U3000 in the ABS system. Internal failure of the module needs HCU unit and module-?? repair. Cost estimated to be $4130 and despite this issue being identical to the issue that prompted a recall of other 2010 Fusion Hybrids (NHTSA Campaign ID #19V904000; NHTSA Action #EA18002) the dealer stated that the VIN was not included in the recall and would charge us the full quoted cost to repair an obvious critical, life-threatening safety issue. The failure mileage was 133,700.

Longer than normal brake pedal travel and harder pressure are needed to stop the car. Since it is 122,259 miles, I decided to replace the brakes as a preventative maintenance program. I replaced the rear calipers, all four rotors, all pads, and then had even less brake pedal. I replaced the master cylinder, which still had less brake pedal travel. I towed the car to a local independent mechanic shop, and they also replaced the master cylinder and brake lines, but still no brake pedal. They found evidence of the ABS module being bad and an active warranty for the same year, make, and model and told me to go to the dealer. I called the dealer, and they said there was no recall on my vin, but there is one for other fans of the same year, make, and model. The car will be towed to the Ford dealer, who said they will replace the ABS module, flush the fluid, replace it with a new DOT 4 fluid, and reprogram the controller. They told me to save receipts so that when it gets to be part of the recall, I can try for a refund. Can we do something so that this problem does not kill someone? The brakes go out or fail terribly without warning, and I am thankful I was driving and not my young daughter, who would not have been able to control and stop the car.

I had a short ABS event, as in the ABS system activated for a few seconds while I was driving. About 3-5 minutes later, I arrived at my destination, and turned off the car. 3 minutes later, I started the car & began to drive, and about 200-300 yards later the car made a warning sound and the majority of the warning lights on the dashboard lit up. I gently applied the brake and found it to be "mushy". I ended up having to apply significant force and push the brake nearly to the floor and the car very slowly decelerated. I parked & turned off the car & checked the brake fluid level which was fine. I saw nothing visibly wrong, so I started the car again and the exact same scenario repeated itself. I was able to park the car again & have it towed to a ford service center. They have confirmed that the ABS system has failed. Because this matches the description of the ABS recall for 2010 Ford Fusions, I believe it is the exact same faulty part and that my car should have been part of the recall. I plan to hold on to the component so it will be available for inspection. Of note, this exact same failure happened to my car once before, in 2015. I had an ABS event, then parked briefly, then my brakes failed in exactly the same manner. However after I stopped the car & parked it overnight that time, the car resumed normal operation. The following day, I took the car to the local ford service center who claimed there were no error codes present and that nothing had gone wrong with the car, which was clearly frustrating and false, but I had no recourse as the error did not repeat at that time.

While driving went to stop and brakes did not work. Put the petal to the floor and all the ABS lights came on. Took it to a brake specialist and they said all the components of the brakes are good but something in the electrical or computer system is causing them to not work. There is a recall on this issue on the non hybrid version of this vehicle. The hybrid needs to be inculded.
