When driving my brake system (ABS) lit up on the dash and I had to put additional force on the brakes in order to stop. There was no warning that occurred prior to the dash warning coming on. I took the car to Krieger Ford service department and they could not locate any issue with the brake system. They released the car back to me and it remained parked for 3 days. On the 4th day I tried to drive the car and the same alerts happened again. I took the car back to Ford and later they found that the ABS module and applicable parts had failed. When I asked about the recall, the service center said there were no recalls available for my car.

Getting check break system, ABS, and service advancetrak on my dash cluster. No codes thrown with OBD reader. Breaks will not fully apply unless I slam them down to the floorboard. Iv seen recalls on over 600,000 fords. I asked ford about my car and they said my specific vin wasn-??t showing any recalls but I know there is a recall for this as there are many claims online. My car is unsafe to drive and I would like to get it fixed under recall so I don-??t have to go out of pocket for something that seems like a common Ford fusion hybrid issue.

Intermittent failure of brake system. While driving the brakes stopped working. Needed to push brake pedal to ground and/or use parking brake. Turned off car. Waited 30 seconds. Started car again and brakes worked. Worked fine for ~ 1 week and then occurred again. Worked fine for ~1 year and then period of not working.

Vehicle is not stopping properly. Additional pressure is needed to the brake peddle in addition to pumping the brakes to get it to stop. New brakes and rotors were installed to try and correct the problem but it appears to be related to the NHTSA Campaign 19V904000 ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU). The 2010 Fusion was included in the recall buy my VIN for my 2010 Fusion was not included. This seems to be a common issue based on other reports. The recall needs to be expanded to prevent accidents. This is a major safety concern.

In regards to this particular issue surrounding the 2010 Fusion: https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2010-ford-fusion-abs-module-recalls-explained My VIN: [XXX] The recall involves replacing the hydraulic control unit to fully restore the function of the ABS for Fusion assembled up to July of 2009. Mine has the exact issue specified, assembled in the exact same plant in Mexico, but was confirmed to be assembled in April 2010. Because of this my Fusion was excluded from the benefits of a free recall service, and the dealership was charging me $2,836 for the ABS module, hydraulic control unit & labor combined. I've since already purchased the two parts & I'm waiting on the labor to be conducted. Is there any way you guys can work with Ford to expand the recall? I'd LOVE to be reimbursed for this. It seems like an oversight by Ford, and it seems unfair that I have to drop nearly $3,000 on the exact same issue that's free for so many others. I can't stress enough, the issue mentioned in that article is the exact issue I've had, and it was born out of the same plant. Thank you so much for your time! My phone number is [XXX] if you'd like to speak there; you're always welcome to leave a voice if need be. : ) INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While driving the car the brake system failed to respond adequately....it was very loose and required pushing the breaks to the floor to fully stop the vehicle. upon having it towed to the ford dealer they said it was the Master Cylinder and the Hydraulic Control Unit. I then checked for recalls and found that my make and model year had been recalled for the exact problem, but was told that it was VIN specific and that mine was not impacted. As mine was made in the same plant as those in the recall I believe that the recall should have been more wide spread and clearly other vehicles that were made there are having the exact same problems.

The vehicle would randomly loose the ability to stop / brake pedal would loose the ability to control brakes and would go all the way to the floor. After pumping the brakes the vehicle would gain some ability to slow down. Ford Dealer in Gallatin, TN had to replace the brake master cylinder and hydraulic control unit bleed system in order to fix the problem otherwise the car would have been completely unsafe to drive. The scary part was that there were no lights or dash notifications to alert us or the ford dealership that the problem even existed. Also, the car only has 74K miles on it. We put new tires on it last year and got new brake pads the year prior. There seem to be a recall for Ford Fusions for some 2010 models, but ours did not make the list according to the vin number and specs. But I think the problem sounds very similar. Thanks for your help.

On April 1, 2023 me and my family where coming down the mountain when we noticed the brakes where going to the floor. My husband had to pump the brakes in order to have good brakes. This is a safety issue to us and others cause if someone was to slam on brakes we wouldnt have time to stop. Yes it has been inspected I took it to ford place in Mount airy NC on April 11, 2023 and they said HCU failed, it failed at 300,000 miles. No they were no warning lights or anything when this happened and still no lights and still need a HCU in it.

Frequent failure of electric brake assist. Failure occurs without any prior warning and despite sufficient brake fluid being in master cylinder reservoir. Alarms and notices appear on the driver display panel as the brakes are failing. Can occur at start up or while actively driving the auto. Occurs across all temperature ranges and weather (moisture) conditions. Adversely affects driver's ability to safely use brakes to stop the car. NHTSA issued safety recall applicable to non-hybrid Ford Fusions for the SAME issue and the SAME model year as my car. Mechanically, the electric brake assist systems are IDNETICAL in non-hybrid and hybrid variants of 2010 Fusion. Attached photo illustrates notices that appear on driver display panel when brakes fail.

i have done a brake job recently replacing the rear brakes and repaired master cylinder. Car has been inspected by a mechanic who says they have done everything they could and the brakes are not working properly. The brakes have to be pressed all the way to the floor and will not stop. FSA 19S54 is a recall he says was never done and suggested I go to dealer to have it done; however, when I make the attempt to the dealer says that only the air bag and the throttle are under recalls and that is all they can fix. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL # FSA 19S54 states that in some of the affected vehicles, a chemical reaction between aged DOT 3 brake fluid and the zinc plating inside the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) may result in a gel formation. A normally closed valve may be stuck open, which may result in extended brake pedal travel. This seems to be what is happening. I am taking to San Antonio's Northside Ford as soon as I can to do the airbag recalls(Ford's number for these recall is 21S12, 18S01, 16S26, 18S34, 19S01 & 21S05.) and the throttle ( recalls that Ford told me about. I do not understand why when I Google recall that I see the airbags recall for driver and passenger side and the ABS hydraulic brake recall but do not see the one Ford said about the throttle. At the very least the information could be passed down throughout your system. Other recalls, 11 total, need to be addressed if not already. I happen to know Northside Ford actually attempted to charge me for some of these things as I still have that invoice with the recommendations. the Kelly Blue Book (KBB) link where I received most of my information is https://www.kbb.com/ford/fusion/2010/recall/?vehicleid=248463 My car essentially has no brakes and every possible cause has been addressed with no solution. The mechanic noticed these very important recall have never been addressed with this vehicle. This ABS hydraulic recall MUST be the only factor left.

My brakes went totally out as I was backing out of my driveway and all the abs light lit up. When I tried to press the brakes they went all the way to the floor and barely stopped. Once I turned the car off and on it went away. But a few hours later it came right back I took to the dealership they said the ABS failed. Part has been on back order

The brakes don-??t grab. They go almost to the floor and it takes a lot longer to stop. We have owned this car for 10 years and it is a continued problem. We take it to the mechanic and they can-??t find anything wrong with it. We tap on the hydraulic brake control unit which makes the brakes work again. We finally found a recall for Ford fusions where the valve inside the hydraulic brake control unit can stick open and cause increased stopping time. Our fusion is a 2010 but does not fall into the criteria for the recall. I think the recall needs to be expanded.

The recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed malfunctioned. The ABS brake modulator had malfunctioned leaving me with pretty much no brakes. One minute I had brakes the next nothing. My car was taken to Monroe the week before for tires. They noticed nothing wrong I had also put new brake pads on. The car should of not had its brakes just go out like it did. Had I been on the highway or driving over 30 i wouldn't of been able to stop. I could of died from a recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed so i would of never ended up in the situation I was in. No brakes barely able to stop going less than 10 miles at a traffic circle. Luckily God was on my side, it wasn't busy at the intersection and I didn't have to stop. If I did I would of smacked right into the other vehicle since I didn't know my brakes weren't working correctly. They where there then nothing. Foot went right down to the floor still barely did anything to stop. Slowed the car down very very minimally. The repair shop was a nightmare. Ford of Greenwiche had my car for over a month. When they said it was fixed it wasn't. We where also charged by them for the replacement of the brake modulator which was a defect by the company that we shouldn't of been charged for. Also numerous things where done wrong by thos company and I feel that no one should ever have to go through what I did with them. The lack of care, putting the repair off, lack of organization, faulty repair-just to name a few. I would like restitution for my time and the cost of the repair for the ABS modulator. The car was taken to Monroe before ford for this problem. My boyfriend who is a licensed mechanic has stated as well that this part should not of malfunctioned this way and it should be covered by recall.

When driving, the ABS failed. The breaks depressed to the floor and the parking break was needed to fully stop the vehicle. The ABS light, track control, and service break lights were illuminated. The car was taken to the dealer and they said that the hydraulic control unit needs to be replaced. While there is a recall for this part for other 2010 ford fusions, my vin number is not covered. A formal complaint was made with Ford but no response has been received. It seems like there are many complaints about the same issue for Fords that are somehow not covered under the recall.
