This vehicle has been in our family since new and all recalls and service has been done on schedule. Currently only have 75K miles on it. On January 19, 2023 I was driving the vehicle in question and had a warning pop up saying Check Brake System and Service AdvanceTrac at the same time I lost my brakes and the vehicle lost power but not total power. No warning was given prior to this happening. I was able to stop the vehicle after pushing the brakes all the way to the floor and putting the car in neutral. I was luckily in my neighborhood after driving home in heavy traffic. I was able to get the car to my driveway and after restarting the car the warning went away and my husband drove the vehicle and did not have the issue. I found that Ford had a Customer Service Satisfaction internal recall back in 2010 on this vehicle for the exact same problem. The fix was applied back in 2010. I just recently brought the car in for another recall for a battery firmware update which I believe could have messed with the fix that was applied back in 2010. I called Ford and they stated there was nothing they could do. I can't get into a ford dealership for them to look into this for another 2 weeks. If other vehicles received this same firmware update for the battery they may incur the same issue and someone could be hurt or worse killed if they panic and don't know what to do. I had a hard enough time stopping the vehicle and I knew what to do but luckily I was not in traffic when it happened. I found an article written by Consumer reports back in Feburary 2010 stating the same issue. Vehicle is available for inspection at any time.

I was driving. Went to stop for a stop light. I pushed peddle down. It went down 90% before I had any resistance. With the last 10% I was able to slow the car before a crash. All of the lights on the dashboard turned on, including the brake light. I turned off the car and pulled the key. I put the key in and restarted, while still sitting in the roadway. I was able to drive it less than a mile to the fire dealer. They tell me the ABS module is not working. I see there is a recall on ABS modules for other 2010 ford fusions, but not mine.

2010 Fusion Hybrid. One owner. The car had multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS" as brake pedal collapsed to floor while driving in normal highway conditions. This was not an anti-lock brake hard stop incident. it was a normal easy braking situation with no advance warning of brake system failure. Vehicle has always been maintained in correct condition. Have photo of dash lights from incident. Pulled over after near collision, took dash photo, turned car off. Upon restarting, the brake pedal was normal level and firmness again. Carefully drove to nearest repair shop who could not find a cause nor repeat the failure. Local Ford dealer and VIN search indicates this vehicle is NOT covered by 19S54. Nonsense.

After Antilock brake activation the brake peddle fades and have to push brake peddle to floor. Have to push on pedal to get car to stop. It only happens after try to stop on a slippery surface such as ice and snow. Pedal will return back to normal after about 20 or 30 minutes. I feel this is not a safe condition, it could end up with me getting into an accident when the pedal fades to the floor. I did notice that there was a recall for certain 2006-2010 Ford fusions but apparently my vehicle isn-??t a part of that. I plan on taking the vehicle to my local dealership to get it repaired. I will also argue my case to the dealership as to that my vehicle should fall within that recall as it is exhibiting the same issues as the recall is stating. This has occurred on multiple occasions and only after my antilock system activated.

Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010 ||| ABS module error. Yes. ||| Total brake failure while driving; car ignored me pushing brake pedal. ||| No. They performed a diagnosis and ran the ABS module through testing software but found nothing wrong. They test drove it and found nothing wrong. ||| Ford service center, yes. Others no. ||| No obvious symptoms occurred prior to the incident. The car did feel like it was responding ever so slightly differently to my braking for a couple months prior to the total brake failure, but it was so slight I thought it was just in my head. There were no warning lights or anything that would lead me to believe that something was wrong with my brakes. ||| FULL INCIDENT: I was leaving a parking lot and drove up a short ramp to merge onto the highway. When I got to the top of the ramp the ramp curved downwards towards the highway, and I pressed on the brakes to stop the car so I could check for traffic. I was at a 90degree angle to the traffic. The car completely ignored me pressing on the brakes and continued to coast towards the highway; which was about 4ft in front of me; and I pressed on the brakes again and nothing happened. I saw a red brake light on my dashboard and heard loud beeping noises from it, I put the car in Park, which stopped the car, then I pulled the E-brake and turned the car off and called for a tow truck. When the car was restarted by the tow truck driver the issue went away. The tow truck driver was able to drive and brake just fine, and there were no warning lights for him. The dealership found nothing wrong with the brakes or ABS module. There is a recall out for the ABS module for the model & year of my car (Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010) for ones made in Mexico. There was no recall for this module performed on my car because it was not made in Mexico, despite having the same reported issue.

Total brake failure, with pedal going to the floor. NHTSA safety recall 19S54 for hydraulic control unit does not apply according to McDavid Ford of Fort Worth because of build date afterward. Recall should be extended since this is a common safety hazard for vehicles built after the recall cutoff of 7-15-09. Very dangerous not to issue a mandatory recall. Also, the air bag replacement has been delayed for probably more than a year. It's time for NHTSA to get serious about addressing these glaring safety problems in the Fusion ASAP. Please do your job.

The car has multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS". The car still brakes but only with much more force and brakes much more slowly. At first it was intermittent but now is stuck in this form. Ford has done a recall for my model (19S54) but my car was built 5 months after the last ones. It was manufactured in the same factory. Based on research, the fix seems to be replacing the ABS module and flushing out the brake fluid. I hope that the recall will eventually extend to later-built cars like my own.

Front brake calipers are seizing up and getting so hot they smoke (could potentially cause fire). This heat destroys the brake rotors and pads. The car wobbles when this is occurring. This is the second time in two years the rotors, brakes, calipers and brake lines had to be replaced. Mechanic has replaced all components again and has determined the ABS module is sticking, which will not allow the new brake system fluid to bleed. Mechanic determined the ABS module is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. This car is mostly highway driven.

Power Brake failure. Pedal needs to be pressed to the floor for brakes to engage. Dealer confirmed a Hydraulic Control Unit failure. This is the same problem that resulted in model 2010 Ford Fusion recalls. Ford is stating the recall doesn-??t apply to our VIN but its the same issue and they want us to pay $3000 for the repair.

On my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid the ABS module and brake system warning lights all turned on at once at random, and the brakes stopped working properly. The vehicle is not drivable. I see there has been some recalls for this for 2010 non hybrid fusions, but this is a seriously dangerous issue for the hybrids also!

RE: From my complaint earlier. I took my car to a mechanic to find out why I was losing my brake fluid. The mechanic said the leak was coming from the ABS Box. ( Hydralic) this was the problem Ford Motor Company had a recall for, Their quick fix DID NOT take care of the problem by switching to DOT 4 brake fluid. I still had some brake issues after I took it in for the recall. When it is raining I still had the issue of my brakes failing or if I hit a bump in the road I had brake failure at times. Ford Motor Company took a cheap way out thinking this would solve the problem. I had to leave the road in the pass causing damage to my 2010 Ford Fusion. Today I am very angry with Ford Motor. They should have replaced Hydraulic brake system in the vehicle instead of playing games with people lives. Ford Dealership told me the part would cost $600. Ford Motor Company should be held accountable for their lack of interest of fixing the recall the correct way.

After taking my car in for the recall on the Hydraulic system on the brakes which it them for ever to send out the second letter for the repairs. During the waiting period I had to leave the road to keep from hitting someone because of brake failure. I have notify Ford Motor Company of the problem right after they sent the first letter. I had damaged to my car that they refused to help with. They sent me a form to sign that said I would not hold Ford Motor Company responsible or Ford Techs should they damaged the RCM when removing to send to their labs. Which I refused to sign because I did talk to a mechanic that worked Ford motor. He stated that the slight wrong move or bump could damaged the main board and it was an very expensive part. Ford Motor Company resolution to fix the recall problem was to bleed out the DOT 3 brake fluid and replace it with DOT 4. I still have brake issue if I am driving in the rain or hit a bump in the road. Now I am having a problem with brake fluid leaking since they switched the fluid. I am going to have a mechanic check to see were the leak is coming from. We own this car 10 years and was satisfied with the car and kept it when we purchased an SUV. Good motor in the car. After dealing with Ford Motor Company about the accident with my car and the other recalls I regret we did not trade it in, but I would have more regret selling it to someone knowing that it could be a danger to their life as it was mine. Even though the car does have a good motor I will never purchase another Ford or purchase and make of any car from any Ford dealership due to the way Ford Motor Company handle my brake recall that cost me money to have the repairs to my 2010 Ford Fusion.

The brake system failed while vehicle was in operation on a highway travelling at 65 mph. While not completely nonfunctional, all advanced braking features such as ABS and power brakes were immediately disabled and only pressing the brake pedal completely to the floor would slowly bring the vehicle to a stop. Other drivers around my vehicle as well as myself were in danger, as I was at that time suddenly unable to stop the vehicle normally. If a sudden traffic stop were required or a situation requiring ABS encountered, a collision would have been extremely likely. I brought the vehicle to a service center the same day the issue occured. The dealer confirmed that many fault indicators were actively lit on the dashboard, the brakes were not functioning correctly, and error code "U3000" was stored on the vehicle's onboard computer. After performing extensive diagnostics, the dealer recommended that the ABS/Brake Control Valve Module be replaced. I put an order in for the component (part number BE5Z2C219H) on 01JUN2022 but as of 19OCT2022, the part is still not available due to being waitlisted. I was told that I was number 600+ on the list to receive this ($645.25) part as this exact component is currently part of a large recall that the manufacturer says my vehicle doesn't qualify for. As mentioned, there is a recall for my exact vehicle model, year, and plant of manufacture but I am told that my VIN is not in the range covered by this recall--even though it presents the exact symptoms and it seems that the same component has been determined to be at fault. That recall is: 19S54 - Certain 2006-2010 Model Year Fusion/Milan/MKZ/Zephyr Vehicles Equipped with Anti-Lock Brake Systems - DOT 3 Brake Fluid and Anti-Lock Brake System Function The vehicle is available for inspection anytime as it has been undrivable now for almost 5 months.
