While I was driving, my Ford Fusion lost most of it's power. I was told it was due to a broken throttle body (part). It sounds like it will take 3 weeks to get the part. I'm not sure why it is taking so long, especially since most people here are complaining about the same part.

As I was driving, I noticed that my car seemed to 'buck'- and alternately feel as if it was losing power and about to stall. This continued for about 10 minutes, until my car lost power entirely, and a 'wrench shaped light' appeared on the display, followed by the check engine light. I shut the car off, and waited a few minutes, and was able to start it, but the same lights and stalling repeated itself in less than one minute. My car was towed to the dealership where I bought it new 3 yrs ago. They diagnosed it as a defective throttle control- and replaced the throttle body at a cost over $400. That was 2 weeks ago, and the problem is repeating itself, exactly as before. The car is going back in on Thursday. I feel that this is a safety issue, involving a part which is obviously defective, and that Ford customers should not be put at risk, nor expected to continue to pay for repairs.

I was traveling down the highway on cruise control at 70 mph. The car made a sudden jerk, and then the check engine light and a yellow wrench light came on, with no power or acceleration when I stepped on the gas. I coasted to the side of the highway, and when I came to a complete stop, the car shook roughly and I turned it off. A few minutes later, I restarted and everything seemed fine. For the next few days the same thing would happen at various speeds, and it go to the point where I no longer felt safe driving the car. Luckily for me, there were no accidents and no one got hurt, but this problem seems to be happening with alot of others, so people are at risk without realizing it. One of the reasons I chose the Fusion for my family was because it was marketed as safe and reliable. So far the car has proved to be neither.

I was entering the freeway and accelerated to merge when the car lurched and died. I tried to start it and finally did after 3 tries. It would not take gas and only jumped forward slowly-the wrench indicator came on-lucky for me a police car pulled up behind me and protected me from cars coming up behind me.I called a wrecker to take the car home. I got it towed to the Ford house the next day-they inspected it and told me they needed to replace the throttle body-had to be ordered. I got online later and discovered that this same thing had happened to hundreds of other drivers. Why hasn't this been put on a recall list because of all the incidents?

I was traveling down the freeway when the wrench light appeared on my dash without warning and all throttle control was lost. I pulled to the side and restarted the car. All lights went off and the car drove normally for less than a 1/2 mile when it happened again. The wrench light reappeared, throttle was lost and the car began to shake as it showed down. Pulled off and restarted again. Same thing happened just a few yards down the road, except now the cel lit up as well. Pulled to the side again--car shook violently as it slowed. Had to get towed to the dealer. Had the freeway been busier I probably would have been rear-ended.

After entering the highway going down an onramp, reached about 55 mph and suddenly power cut out. Car was in drive, yet I could rev engine like it was in neutral. Orange wrench warning light appeared and I was able to turn on hazard lights and pull over to side of the highway. Turned the car off and restarted and warning light was gone. The next day on the freeway traveling at about 60 mph the car suddenly repeated although now was no longer in neutral, power died. Again able to pull over and restart. This morning (3rd time in 4 days) the car repeated the problem turning into a store stalling at about 20 mph.

While driving the car loses power wrench light comes on and the car will not go. It will die as U coast over to the side of the road hoping the whole time the person behind you is not going to rearend you. This was very dangerous. I took it to my local Ford dealership and was advised that the throttle actuator control was struck open they could try cleaning it and reset codes or I could purchase a new throttle control. The technician advised me that cleaning them using fixes the problem and thr throttle control part would be on back order and did not know when they could get it. I asked what if it doesnt fix the problem how much money am I out and then have to buy a throttle control. I feel this is a problem Ford should be fixing when I can google it and there is a known problem.

I was cruising along about 65mph on I-89 on a slight uphill grade when engine suddenly misfired a little then rapidly lost power. The little yellow wrench icon was on in the instrument panel.I had to pull over on the shoulder without getting nailed from behind. The engine was still idling but not smoothly. I could push the accelerator to the floor but it just continued to idle a little roughly. I then turned off the ignition and waited wondering if it would start and when I tried it the engine started, but the idle was a little rough and the RPM's went up a bit then smoothed out and ran normal and the wrench icon went off. It was driven for several weeks without a repeat but then did it again. It has happened several more times since under a variety of driving conditions and speeds. When it was first brought to the dealer there was no code showing in the computer log. ( I don't think they tried very hard as they didn't even listen very well, stating on the repair order that I said the check engine light had come on. No..... I said the wrench light had come on. When it was brought back to the dealer a second time, they found the culprit as the throttle body being defective and needing to be replaced. When I questioned them about what specifically was wrong with the throttle body, they played like it was the first one they had ever seen go bad and it was some big mystery. Afterward, I spent a grand total of about two minutes on the internet and found dozens of page references about Ford Fusion throttle body failures alone, some with hundreds accounts written by owners who had the same recurring problem. I will go out on a limb here and say this seems to be a widespread problem as it is also being reported in several other Ford models and is obviously, in my humble opinion, a grave safety issue.

The morning of July 8, 2013 I was driving at approximately 70 mph on a major interstate (with construction) when my car stalled. My check engine light was flashing and the throttle control/transmission wrench flashing. I at least had enough momentum to go about 100 feet to where there was a shoulder that they were not doing construction on. I ended up shutting my car off and waiting a few seconds. I then turned my car back on to see if it still had the problem. Everything appeared to be working fine. I ended up getting back on the interstate and about 5 miles down it happen to do the same thing. At this point I got off the freeway ' shut my car off again. This time I turned my car back on and my check engine light was still flashing. I was about one mile from a Ford dealership. I took it there and found out that it was throttle body. The part is on back order and the dealer ship will not receive the part for 7 to 10 business days. This doesn't include the days that it is going to take them to install the part. I am nervous to drive my car even after this part is fixed. I was driving at 70 mph and could of easily got into an accident with all the construction that was going around. I hope that Ford takes these complaints serious and takes some action. Someone can get seriously hurt with this issue and I hope it doesn't take that for Ford to take action!

Driving car approx. 50 to 60 miles an hour, engine just stops, no accelerator pedal pressure. Wrench light comes on(Ford owners manual shows it to be throttle body/drive-train). This has happened several times previous to yesterday's occurrence. We brought the car from drivetime and took it to their mechanic and he said he could not find a stored code, was I do not believe to be true. After searching online concerning some incident, we noticed that owners of the same model car have had the same problem. Very dangerous while traveling and the car just quits. Apparently Ford knows about because a car a local dealer and the parts department has parts on back order. Yesterday, 7/10 the check engine light came on and the code was P2112(throttle body stuck closed). Something needs to be done about this problem. Thanks for your time.

During morning rush hour traffic, my 2010 Ford Fusion began to lose acceleration and shake violently while I was traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour. Fortunately, I was already in the far right travel lane so I could put on my flashers and pull off the road. I cut the engine and waited for a few minutes. I restarted the car and was able to get to my workplace. Based upon my preliminary research, this appears to be a widespread problem that has serious safety implications. I strongly encourage investigation and study of this issue with Ford to institute a recall to resolve such issues.

I was driving on a city street and the car lost power. The wrench light came on. I glided to a parking lot and turned the car off. I waited a minute and started the car and it seemed fine. I drove it a week and the exact same thing happened. We brought it to a Ford dealer who had no idea what the problem was. The diagnostics showed no recordings. They performed some maintenance and now I see on my bill a statement that says "may need throttle body if concern happens again" it happened again on the 4th of July 2013, on the expressway going 70 mph. The car stopped accelerating, the wrench light came on, we were able to move over two lanes and get on the shoulder. The car bucked and coughed a few times and we turned it off. We were able to start again and go home, all of us visibly shaken and now very angry at the dealer.

Driving down the road, lost complete power and steering, wrench came on dashboard light, struggled to pull over. Told nothing showed on computer- thought likely throttle body. Repaired- not covered under 60K drive train warranty. Today 7/9/13, went to start parked car- rolled forward when in park and released emergency brake. Put brake back on, would not start. Towed- told transmission linkage issue and would require 3-4 hours of investigation to diagnose as nothing again showed on computer. Car w/ 59,200 miles- again they noted may again be throttle body.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving 55 mph without warning. The service engine light illuminated after the failure occurred. The failure was experienced several times; however, the vehicle regained some acceleration after it was restarted, but continued to stall during acceleration. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the throttle body system was reset; however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

Engine appeared to cut out at 2 different instances today. First time was when turning right out of the neighborhood and the 2nd time was when merging with traffic. In both cases, the car lost all power and did not seem to even coast well. I had a blinking wrench on the dash and was lucky to have not been in an accident. Car was able to restart after pulling to the side of the road and putting it into park. This has been a sporadic ongoing issue for the last few weeks and will eventually cause an accident unless it is fixed.

June 22nd driving with my family to church along major highway at a rate of 60-62 mph the vehicle just went limp and I was barely able to pull the car over into the emergency lane. The car behind slammed its brake and horn. Wrench light came on. I turned off car ignition and waited a couple of minutes. Needed time to compose myself after almost being struck from behind. Started the vehicle and wrench light was off. Placed my emergency flashers on and drove very slowly off the next highway exit. Left car in commuter lot and called my wife to pick me up in the dependable Honda. This vehicle has placed my family's lives in a unsafe position. I will never trust driving it.

2010 Ford Fusion SE wrench light comes on and the car stops driving on the highway, street and in an intersection. The wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. The car will start to stall and shake.the dealerships can't find out why this is happening. Ford will not call a recall for this issue and Ford stated the part for this vehicle is on back order with no eta. I'm not the only person with this known issue. If you google the wrench light you will see a number of 2010 Fusion owners have this problem. This problem is growing at a rapid rate and Ford has yet to do anything about this situation. What will it take for someone to get killed before Ford Motor Company take this issue serious.

Driving on my way home. A wrench light illuminated in the dash and the car lost it power instantly. Slowing down to a complete stop. My latest incident was much scarier. I was on the cross island parkway in the bronx going with the traffic. Thank god I was in the shoulder, it happened again. The car was going about 60 mph and the same thing happened. I was able to get on the shoulder with out anyone running into the back of me. The car came to a complete stop and was jerking like crazy. I turned it off and it started back up and I went from bronx NY to eastern long island scared as hell in the right lane just in case it happened again. And there are other times as well.
