Returning to tn from vacation in fl on 7/15/12. Traveling before birmingham, al - heard a loud boom sound (like a tire blow out), then heard a roar. As we signaled to move from the fast lane to the emergency lane - flames were over the back window of the car. By the time that we reached the emergency lane, the entire car was engulfed in flames both inside and outside. The car was entirely engulfed in flames within 10 to 20 seconds. I had purchased the car from moss motor company in South pittsburgh, tn on 6/4/12. The car had issues within two weeks that required the car to be towed back to the dealer for powertrain issue. Dealer did not share the ticket with me on repairs that were completed two weeks before the car exploded. But they kept the car for over one week to fix the issue that caused it to stop pulling while driving. This was the first long trip that I had taken in the car. My two passengers experienced mild burns but we lost all personal items in the car due to the speed that the car burned. Alabama highway patrol worked the explosion and fire department had to work the fire. State farm assured me that they would investigate the cause of the fire but has just informed me that they did not do a thorough investigation. I have witness names and contact information as well as photographs that they took as the car burned if needed.

This morning I'm in my 2010 Ford Fusion traveling about 50 mph and all of a sudden I start to slow down and I lose ability to accelerate. The wrench indicator on the dash is lit which indicates throttle/transmission failure. I roll into a parking lot and shut the car. Turn it back on after a minute and it runs fine. Later in the day on my way home from work the same thing happens. This seems to be a very common problem and Ford needs to do something. I'm reading this is not covered under warranty. That's doesn't seem very fair since its clear this is something that's happening to lots of owners. It can't be a coincidence and it must be something defective in the build. They can word it however they want but something that causes you to lose "power" I would think is part of the powertrain warranty. Do the right thing Ford..

Driving down the road at 45mph and the car starts vibrating. All of a sudden I lose acceleration while my foot is still on the gas. Luckily I was able to pull over before the car lost momentum and stalled out. The wrench light was on. Had no warning at all. I shut the car off, waited about 2-3 minutes and tried to start it again. It turned over but after it struggled to. The wrench light then went off. This has happened four more times! each with no warning! I have looked on a number of sited that have the same complaint about this. There are hundreds of near crash cases and all with no warning. I love how this website says "your complaint information will be entered into NHTSA-ODI's vehicle owner's complaint database and used with other complaints to determine if a safety-related defect trend exists" after numerous complaints and an obvious faulty part you still haven't seen a trend" are you kidding me"! today I just missed getting into an accident as the car decided to lose acceleration again as I was pulling out to make a turn across 4 lanes. The lanes were clear to go but oncoming traffic was coming. I was lucky that the person saw my flashers and had the room to move over and get out of the way. Apparently Ford wants a lawsuit on their hands because as soon as someone gets into an accident(if they have not already) you better bet they'll go after Ford. Especially since it is apparent that Ford has been made aware of this problem and still will not take responsibility for the fact something is wrong. You better believe that if I get hit because there product was not recalled because of a faulty part I'll be front and center with my lawyer and a news crew.

Was driving down the highway at 60-65 mph when suddenly car jerked and lost all acceleration power. The rpms were stuck (not going up or down) and car began to slow down. The wrench light came on. I had to pull to the side of the highway to avoid getting hit. Tried putting the car in park and back into drive, but it started shaking, so had to turn off the car, let it sit for a few minutes and re-start the car. It drove normally after re-start, however this was the second occurrence in one week and am now scared to drive it long distances or on the highway. Ford needs to fix this issue before someone gets hurt!

I was driving my wife and newborn child home from the hospital when my car lost all acceleration. It was an unsafe situation and I responded by pulling my vehicle into the breakdown lane. I shut off the engine and started the vehicle and continued to drive. The vehicle lost acceleration 2 more times on my way home. The wrench icon came on when the incidents occurred. I believe it is the throttle body. This is a major safety issue Ford must address. There is no indication that the vehicle is about to lose all acceleration.

Moving along at 40mph when car suddenly jerks and loses power. Orange wrench light comes on but my car stalled out in traffic. Turned key off and back on-car started and light was off. A minute down the road and car did same thing again. This continues to happen 5 days later. Very dangerous because car loses throttle power completely. I do not dare go down interstate with this problem.

Was driving at low speed (approx 20 mph) and car jerked violently and wrench light came on. Rpms were then stuck ~1000 and car would not accelerate when gas pedal was depressed. Coasted to a stop, shifted to park, and turned off the car. Tried to re-start the car immediately and it would not turn over. After the car sat for approx 5 min, started fine and drove fine. Dealership could not find problem. Also experience a strong jerking motion regularly when first start car (it is cold) when shifting from park into drive/reverse). And have occasionally experienced an engine revving at higher speeds (40 mph).

Car came to a chugging stop and a wrench symbol appeared on the console. After shutting off the car for a few minutes, the car started up and the symbol was gone. I am trying to get in touch with Ford. I have found out on the net that this is a big problem with the Ford Fusion. This is a big safety issue because it has happened to hundreds of Fusion owners. I have 20 pages of testimonials about this problem. I think it is time for a recall of this problem!

Was driving home from work and the wrench light came on and the motor cut off on me, I was lucky because I had just got off of the interstate, I managed to be able to pull on the shoulder of the road set there for a few minutes and started the car. It started and the light went off and was able to drive home. Took vehicle to Ford dealer and they checked and said they couldn't find any fault codes. They told me it was the throttle bottle and I had it replaced, haven't drove it yet to see if that took care of the problem. I got on the internet and found that other people were having the same problem. I think this is a safety problem and some on could get injured or worst.

Throttle control is defective. I have read several complaints about the same issue. The throttle control goes bad and then the car will abruptly lose power and stop in traffic. We were lucky that we weren't on the interstate when this happened. In order to move you have to put the car in park and shut it off and turn it back on. I had to have mine replaced yesterday. The car is only two years old and only has 50,000 miles on it.

Today my 2010 Ford Fusion lost acceleration on I35 surrounded by semi-trucks at 70mph. The wrench light came on and we could not get out of the way of the trucks behind us. Fortunately the trucks were able to go around us and the traffic behind us was about a couple of miles away. We were in the middle of the three lane highway with my 18 month old son in the back seat, so I'm astonish that Ford could build such a car and not acknowledge the safety issue. We were able to coast to so the shoulder and turn the car off. The car came back on with no issues indicated on the dash. We then started our way down I35 and the car lost acceleration again at 70mph. This time I was prepared and easily coasted onto the shoulder. The car was rough in idle, but when we turned it off and on again it was fine. I made the decision not to hit 70mph but to go only 60 until we got home. Today we went to sea world and on the way home we almost became another statistic because of the Ford company. I will go to the Ford dealership where I bought the Fusion from to see how they can help.

Had noticed several times that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate after pushing the gas. Later that afternoon, while accelerating from a stoplight, the vehicle started shaking and lost all power. I was able to get the vehicle into a parking lot and turned it off. When I restarted, the engine seemed to run normally but still hesitated to go when the gas was pressed. I got the car to a dealership and they explained that the throttle body was bad - "a common thing on these cars". Ford is refusing to cover the replacement under warranty, claiming that this is not part of the drive train - though admitting that the car will not function without the part.

Driving home from work on the highway at approx. 55 mph, my car lost acceleration, the wrench light came on and my vehicle went into a limp mode. I was able to exit the highway and pull into a parking lot. After a couple of minutes, I was able to restart the car. It now ran as if nothing had happened and the wrench light was no longer on. I brought it to my Ford dealer and they could not diagnose the problem as no codes remained. It happened again several days later. I called Ford and was informed not to shut the vehicle off and restart it as this action cleared the vehicle of all diagnostic codes. I made another appt. With my dealer. The very next day it happened again. This time I did not shut the car off, but limped @ 5-6 mph to my dealer and showed them the wrench light and the fact that the vehicle was running rough and left the vehicle with them. I also told them not to restart it until they read the codes. After research on the web, I found that this problem is quite rampant in Ford and has been a problem for several years. The problem is a defective throttle body. My dealer found the code that I gave them when they checked my car. I had to have it fixed as I need the car for work. Ford refuses to acknowledge the problem. Are they waiting for someone to get seriously injured or killed? they should stop putting the almighty dollar ahead of the lives of people.

I had just schedule to do my 75K maintenance on 7/27/12, which I did. The day before I had driven home from work and my car goes into low RPM's, and the throttle stops working but the car is still on! I immediately put on my hazards in rush hour traffic hoping I can find a shoulder in a construction zone. An 18 wheeler nearly knocked me off a bridge when I was drifting to safety at 15mph. I turned off the ignition as the car idles at 700 RPM's. I start it up again and I am able to drive. In two days it has happen once again, and now my average miles per gallon has gone down from 27.4mpg to 19/20 mpg!!! where is the recall...too common of an issue for a motor trend car of the year!!!

On several occasions the car will not accelerate after stopping for a stop sign or light, then it jerks, moves forward and the RPM's rev up rapidly. Then it resumes normally. I am concerned my vehicle has a faulty transmission or the throttle body issue that I have read about. I have only 17,000 miles on this car and will take it in for service, hopefully with resolution. I sure hope a recall is issued soon since this seems to be a serious safety issue.

The vehicle lost all power at 70 mph and a wrench light came on. This was very, very dangerous. I pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off as it would not move forward anyway. It had a rough restart, but then seemed to be better though still running rough. The wrench light went out. It took it in for servicing at the dealer where they diagnosed the throttle body. This was a very scary and dangerous experience.

On 7/22/2012 at approximately 2000 hours my family was traveling southbound on Georgia state route 3 - us hwy. 41 in rocky face, Georgia when our vehicle (2010 Ford Fusion automatic transmission) suddenly without notice went from a solid cruising speed of 40mph to an abrupt halt - nose of the car actually went forward towards the ground so abruptly that it made contact with the ground. The vehicle stalled (still barely running) in the lane of travel and would not get any throttle acceleration. My family and vehicle was almost struck by on coming motorists from the rear due to the abrupt stopping and the vehicle would barely get any throttle acceleration. After the Georgia state patrol trooper came to assist the car would not go above 25 mph without suddenly stalling and the check engine light coming on along with an orange wrench symbol. The vehicle had to be abandoned at the dalton Georgia state patrol post due to this issue until Ford could send a representative to tow the vehicle to the local dealer where we purchased. The local dealer on 7/23/12 informed us that this is an on-going problem that Ford is aware of and that the "throttle body" would have to be replaced. Upon further online investigation I found that this issue is widespread and reported since 2010 & has caused very unsafe conditions for motorists such as it did with my family. I am asking you all to look into recalling the "throttle body" on the 2010 Ford Fusion to be replaced. This is a problem that Ford is aware of and they are blatantly passing the blame off onto the consumer and someone (if not my own family) is going to get hurt. It is unsafe for a late model vehicle that has been serviced as required by the manufacture every 3-5 months to have these abrupt issues and break my family down in the roadway of travel on a major us highway. NHTSA please have Ford correct before someone gets injured!!
