On September 30th I was driving home and I had only driven less than a mile at approximately 35 miles per hour when the wrench light appeared on my dash and my car quick moving. I was able to get it to move about 1 mile per hour so I got the car off the road and shut it off. It was dark and I was alone. I was going to call aaa for a tow and I decided I would try to start the car and see what would happen. The wrench light was gone and the car was moving like nothing was wrong with it. This happened again on Oct 5th and Oct 7th during rush hour traffic and both times I was fortunate that I was able to get out of traffic to avoid getting hit both times my speed was approximately 45 mph. I have taken the car to two car repair shops and they can not find any thing wrong with it when they connect it to their diagnostic machine. From September to current date the car has done this at least another 10 times. Sometimes the speed may be at 55 or 60 miles per hour. I did contact the local Ford dealer and I wrote a letter to the Ford company neither party has done anything to help me. There is a defective in their product. The local Ford dealer suggested it may be value body and throttle body issue. I continue to drive the car to work and back waiting for it to break down or to be killed in an accident when it quits in the middle of a busy highway and I am unable to get out of the line of traffic. So much for the commercial "number 1 most dependable car in America ". my Ford Fusion sucks.

"unknown or other" in this case would likely relate to "power train" and/or "electrical, " but definitely relates to public safety. The ignition tumbler releases the key in any position--park, neutral, drive, or low--rather than in only park. Drivers of cars with manual transmissions are accustomed to setting hand brakes using gears. Prior the the date of incident above, I recall moving slightly forward on a slight slope, and I simply applied the hand brake to avoid putting more strain on drive components. After a dead battery (due to lighted dash gear position indicator) and a jump start, it was days later that I realized that the key had been removed with the car in gear. The Ford dealer and Ford Motor Company say repair consists of replacing the shift assembly (includes sending unit which has no "output") at a cost to me of $487.65 + tax. They claim this is not a power train issue and that my "cpo" expired less than a month earlier, this on a Ford "certified" car. Public safety is involved because a rolling car can cause havoc.

Lost parking function on the transmission. Parking function is missing causing the vehicle to move after I park the car. Didn't realize until after I parked my car. Was walking towards the building that I noticed that the car was rolling back and had to run back, unlock the car and then push the brake. After investigating realized that the "P" function was missing. Did hear a huge clunking noise when I tried to park in the first place. This is a safety issue and action needs to be taken to address this issue and make Ford provide an explanation for the 2.5 L 6F35 transmission. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a bad transmission and the parking pawl broken inside the transmission. It was necessary to use parking brake to keep the car steady during parking.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to jerk, shake and decelerate abnormally. The contact shut off the vehicle and after restarting, was able to drive without a failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000. Updated 02/15/12 the vehicle was taken to the dealer on Dec 28th and was returned to the consumer the next day. The dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. The second time the incident occurred. The dealer was able to pull up code from the vehicle's computer, which stated the throttle body needed to be replaced, along with a new battery. Updated 02/29/12

My car is equipped with the 6F35 6 speed automatic transmission and has been experiencing lingering defects. I took my car in to a Ford dealership in late November 2011 and notified them of transmission problems. My invoice reads, reprogram PCM to latest level and reset fluid level per tsb 11-11-23. The problems continue. I will admit that the flaring problem has improved, although the remaining problems persist while the overall feeling of transmission degradation seems to be accelerated. My trans. Continues to struggle and feel worn out during low end acceleration. An inspection of my vehicle from a professional mechanic discovered burned up clutch material within the contaminated transmission fluid. He showed it to me, and I saw it with my own eyes. The dealership I was just at wasn't able to find any burned up clutch material in my fluid or the left front axle half shaft seal leak which my mechanic also discovered upon his inspection. I find it very fishy that these 2 problems automatically disappeared by themselves, it seems to me that the field service engineer from Ford made repairs to my vehicle while it was in his or her possession during the defendants legal inspection for my lemon law suit at elder Ford in troy, Michigan. What Ford did to my car was illegal, a defendants inspection allows for observation only, not repairs. I continue to experience very hard abnormal shifting while driving in city conditions and an uncontrollable forward lurch/jolt while driving in city conditions which is extremely unsafe. Sometimes I will have a delayed engagement into drive. The shuddering vibration coming from the front end of the vehicle after driving the car for a short while continues. I continue to have an intermittent problem dealing with a burning oil or greasy smell coming through the air vents. The abnormal high pitched humming drone sound continues.

Transmission keeps on acting up and dealer keeps saying everything is fine and cannot duplicate the other since the time they rebuilt the transmission on my vehicle.

While driving on the interstate on cruise control at 70 mph, the car lost acceleration/power, the wrench light came on and we had to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. Came to a stop, and the car idled, but appeared to want to die. Car was shutoff and restarted. Wrench light went off. We continued on our way without further problems. This is the second time this has happened within a two months. Brought the car to the lander's Ford dealership in collierville, tn after the first time it happened, but was told they could not duplicate the problem. Nothing was done. Based on previous reports, this is a common issue and is related to throttle body defect. As noted by others, this power failure is a safety concern and could lead to a serious incident.

I own a V6 2010 Ford Fusion and on two separate occasions, while driving on the highway at approximate speeds of 65 mph the engine has stalled without warming. At the time the engine stalls, a service light will come on and the car completely shuts down. In both instances, the car could be restarted, and the service light disappeared upon restart. We have taken it to the dealership after both incidents, and they are unable to identify a fix as the service code is not being stored in events of engine failure (and the light is not staying on after restart). This is an extremely dangerous situation as it has happened without warning, while traveling on major highways at high speeds. I have seen entries from other owners on both the NHTSA site and other blogs sitting the same problem, yet Ford is unwilling to accept that this is a pervasive problem and is not working to find a solution. We have escalated from the dealership up to the corporate Ford customer service department with no success.

A local mechanic diagnosed that there was a throttle body defect. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 54,500.

I was stopped at a traffic light, it turned green and stepped on the gas pedal and the car immediately started to rough idle, the wrench indicator lit up and would not move forward. There was minimal response to throttle input. I was able to pull off the road out of traffic to a safe spot. I left the car running to see what was going on. The tachometer was fluctuating mainly downward as it idled rough. After about two minutes I turned off the motor. I made a few phone calls and while calling roadside assist decided to try and start the car. It started and I went straight to the dealership. As fate would have it, the dealership could not duplicate the concern and was not able to pinpoint the cause. They were kind enough to suggest replacing the throttle body and motor assembly. It cost me $512.38. Needlessto say I am not at all happy with this issue. This issue could have occurred in a more dynamic setting, heavy traffic, lane change or merging, etc, potentially causing threat to my life and that of others. This issue needs to be addressed by the manufacturer in my opinion.

When I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion the wrench light came on and the car lost all power and stalled out. Luckily I wasn't in front of a truck or on the freeway. Very scary my car only has 15391 miles on it. This car was also leaking oil. I am not happy with this car. When I took it to the dealer this problem didn't show up at first so the service person kept the car longer and finally it did the same thing and lost all power so they replaced the throttle body and replaced the the gasket that was leaking oil. Also a few months earlier one of the coils went bad and had to be replaced.

My 2010 Ford Fusion has had issues for the last month with the lack of accelerating with the check engine light and the wrench light coming on. Took it to advanced auto with a code of P2112. Took it twice to the Ford dealership with the first time the dealer telling me nothing. This happened again while I was driving through an intersection with my two kids in the car and lost almost all power and was nearly hit by an 18 wheeler. Dealer said that the throttle body needs to be replaced, will cost me $520 dollars and it isn't covered under my power train warranty. Thousands of reported problems with this very same problem with Ford not being held responsible for faulty equipment...something needs to be done before someone is hurt or killed.

While driving my 2010 Ford Fusion down a very busy main road in atlanta, it died. I was lucky that I was able to get over into the right hand lane without being able to accelerate and get onto a side street to park. The dealer replaced the throttle under warranty, but less than a month later I was getting on a busy freeway here in atlanta. About the same speed, 45mph, it wouldn't accelerate, but this time it did continue running. Eventually it picked up again. It is currently back in the shop having the transmission corrected. Ford did issue a recall last year which was supposed have corrected this issue, and I did take the car in for the recall when I had only had it for 30 days. That was over a year ago, and it has "skipped" between 2nd and 3rd gears the whole time which has made me uneasy, but eventually became the norm. Anyway, the recall did not correct the issue. My fear is that when I am unable to accelerate, or when the car simply shuts down, I will be rear ended and cause a serious car accident involving others as well as myself. This is my first american brand car and I want to love it, but feeling unsafe driving it is making it difficult. I want this on file because although I have a warranty on my car, I think Ford should be correcting the issue for all Ford Fusion owners since our safety is at risk.

While driving down the interstate in rush hour traffic, my 2010 Fusion (35,265 mi) lost acceleration. Jerked car into the median and put into park, it immediately began idling very rough and almost sputtering to cut off. The wrench light displayed. I cut the car off and let it sit for a moment and then cut the car back on. I pressed the gas and the cars RPM shot up to over 5000 RPM. It then idled normally and I merged back in traffic just hoping to get it to my office. I made it another 2-3 miles and it did it again, this time both the engine light and wrench lit up. I immediately cut it off, restarted it and it seemed fine. I decided to get off at the exit I was close too and park the car as I knew I was going to cause a major accident if I did not get it off the road. I came to the top of the exit ramp and sat in traffic for a few minutes, the car seemed okay, no rough idle nothing strange except the engine light was still displayed. I merged into traffic off the ramp and in the middle of the road same thing occurred, no acceleration, I had my foot to the floor. I got it into a parking lot and called the dealership. I had the car towed in got a loaner to drive into work. The Ford dealership called about an hour later and said the car is fixed and I can come get it. They said their was an issue in my electronic throttle body and they have replaced the throttle body. I love this car but at 35,000 miles I should not have already had a bad battery and now this issue. I am starting to not trust the car. I hope the issue is fixed, but I am almost scared to go pick it up tonight. I had no idea of these issues until I looked it up online after the this morning.

Transmission slips and shifts hard in low gears. Ford has replaced several transmission components but the problem still persists. I fear I may crash into the rear of another car when this occurs. Recently a new problem has developed at high speeds where the transmission does not shift and runs at 4500 RPM for 20-30 seconds. Ford says nothing is wrong despite me sending a video of the console when this happens.

This problem is due to a faulty transmission or transmission components, as outlined by Ford recall 10B15. The car jerks/slips and it feels as if the gears are not catching upon acceleration. I received the 'recall' letter from Ford describing this program, and immediately brought the car to the dealership. They preformed the module recalibration and told me everything was fine. However, 40,000 later, my transmission started exhibiting the problems described above and Ford is now replacing my entire transmission, although not paying for the rental car.

I previously sent a complaint because my car kept stalling, wrench light would come on, but when I turned car off then turned on, it would run, but then they couldn't get the codes. Based on my internet research, looks like 2010 Fusion are having this problem between 30,000 and 50,000 and it is always the throttle body that needs to be replaced. The dealership would not replace the throttle body because the codes were not coming up. I just wanted to give you an update, I purchased my own code reader and after my car died in the middle of the road (very dangerous) three more times, was finally able to get the code myself. I brought it to the dealership and with the code they were finally able to look it up.....and it was the throttle body....just like I told them since every 2010 Ford Fusion between this mileage is have the same problem. Since this is obviously a defect on this car and is dangerous because car stalls in middle of traffic, it needs to be recalled! I don't want anyone to go through what I went through, and I would love to get reimbursed for the money I had to pay on Ford defect. Thank you
