Driving home from the Dr.'s office the vehicle's RPM suddenly began to increase yet the vehicle was not moving faster; the Wrench icon came on, the vehicles Blind Spot Warning came on, the Speedometer went to zero and the vehicle continued to move forward at regular speed. With less than one mile to get home we were able to continue to drive the vehicle. When the vehicle was shifted into reverse to back the car into the garage, the transmission made a loud bang and jerked the car. The vehicle was driven into the garage. The fluids were checked and all are good. The vehicle was then started again and shifted into drive and the loud bang and jerk happened again. The vehicle has not been driven.

In regards to this particular issue surrounding the 2010 Fusion: https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2010-ford-fusion-abs-module-recalls-explained My VIN: 3FADP0L32AR362017 The recall involves replacing the hydraulic control unit to fully restore the function of the ABS for Fusion assembled up to July of 2009. Mine has the exact issue specified, assembled in the exact same plant in Mexico, but was confirmed to be assembled in April 2010. Because of this my Fusion was excluded from the benefits of a free recall service, and the dealership was charging me $2,836 for the ABS module, hydraulic control unit & labor combined. I've since already purchased the two parts & I'm waiting on the labor to be conducted. Is there any way you guys can work with Ford to expand the recall? I'd LOVE to be reimbursed for this. It seems like an oversight by Ford, and it seems unfair that I have to drop nearly $3,000 on the exact same issue that's free for so many others. I can't stress enough, the issue mentioned in that article is the exact issue I've had, and it was born out of the same plant. Thank you so much for your time! My phone number is 732.693.8557 if you'd like to speak there; you're always welcome to leave a voice if need be. : )

The Power Steering Assist Fault would occasionally come on and reset itself if I turn the vehicle off then back on. Well, I was with my partner out and about and got in my vehicle, went to start and the message popped up. So I tried restarting the vehicle and it didn't work. I tried multiple times and to no prevail has it reset. Go figure it happened right after I paid the loan off. We had to wait for a tow truck to arrive have it towed home. I checked fuses and wiring and battery voltages when I got home and everything checked out normally. I contacted a Ford dealership and they said with the parts, labor, reprogram and alignment it could be up to around $2,500. I don't have this kind of money laying around. Now I don't have a vehicle to get back and forth to work. I've read online about numerous cases of this incident and nothing has come of it yet and that's just really frustrating for a hard working citizen trying to get by. I hope and pray this gets a recall or something ASAP.

My Fusion has been having the same issues as other Ford Fusions with the electrical power steering, traction control and the tpms system. They have been acting up for months and now the power steering does not work at all. I have talked to my local Ford dealer and the Ford 1800 number and they say since it does not fall within the VIN guidelines they are not responsible for it and they I will have to pay out of pocket for it and if it should ever be recalled for it they would then reimburse me my cost if I kept all of my reciepts. I feel like it should be under recall and Ford have to pay for it.

I was driving on a heavy highway when my power steering stopped working sending me all over the highway. Luckily I was able to pull over without getting hit. We took the car to ace Ford in Woodbury NJ just so they could look at it and was told the whole power steering rack and pinion had to be replaced. I have 112,000 miles. I know the Ford company recalled all 2011 Ford fusions for the same problem. They want me to pay over $2000 I don't have. I didn't have any warning lights until the steering went out. Power steering failure and traction control light. Just boom...gone

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that after she retrieved the vehicle, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control, the tire pressure, the ABS, the service brake warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake fluid leaked, the electrical system intermittently malfunctioned and the key fob failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

This vehicle has been in our family since new and all recalls and service has been done on schedule. Currently only have 75K miles on it. On January 19, 2023 I was driving the vehicle in question and had a warning pop up saying Check Brake System and Service AdvanceTrac at the same time I lost my brakes and the vehicle lost power but not total power. No warning was given prior to this happening. I was able to stop the vehicle after pushing the brakes all the way to the floor and putting the car in neutral. I was luckily in my neighborhood after driving home in heavy traffic. I was able to get the car to my driveway and after restarting the car the warning went away and my husband drove the vehicle and did not have the issue. I found that Ford had a Customer Service Satisfaction internal recall back in 2010 on this vehicle for the exact same problem. The fix was applied back in 2010. I just recently brought the car in for another recall for a battery firmware update which I believe could have messed with the fix that was applied back in 2010. I called Ford and they stated there was nothing they could do. I can't get into a ford dealership for them to look into this for another 2 weeks. If other vehicles received this same firmware update for the battery they may incur the same issue and someone could be hurt or worse killed if they panic and don't know what to do. I had a hard enough time stopping the vehicle and I knew what to do but luckily I was not in traffic when it happened. I found an article written by Consumer reports back in Feburary 2010 stating the same issue. Vehicle is available for inspection at any time.

I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid down the highway when suddenly i was unable to steer anymore. I was changing lanes and the wheel locked at an angle causing me to cross multiple lanes of traffic and eventually hitting another car. The car ended up being claimed as a total loss. I am still required to pay more for insurance now because the accident was caused because of my cars steering rack failing and locking. There have been hundreds of complaints describing exactly what happened to me. No warning lights or any other warning signs. Just sudden and total failure. Its more upsetting knowing that the 2011 and 2012 model years had a recall for this but the 2010 did not even though the steering rack has the same exact part numbers. Insurance didnt even do an investigationand i was told it was because theres no way to investigate it after the crash which i know is a lie. I absolutely hate the fact that im still affected by this financially and ford doesnt care at all about the people it has happened to.

The power steering assist fault came on because of either a tire sensor warning being ignored or evap code P1450 being ignored. Either way my step-son ignored the check engine light apparently for a couple months. Understandable from young driver. Ford motor company programs this and I'm sure other vehicles to interrupt your electric power steering if you keep ignoring a check engine light. Problem now is 1. For them to do that I feel is wrong first off because taking someone's power steering assist away could be very very dangerous if not fatal. 2 both issues have been repaired with new parts. And the codes will not clear from obd2. Ford claims it needs to be driven through several drive cycles for the ecm to reset the codes because a scan tool will not reset a permanent code. Now not only are they casing this problem with their own programming of ecm but they are advising drivers to drive 100-200 miles over several days completely so called "drive cycles " or monitor cycles " in order for ecm to reset codes. The computer has to read there is no problems apparently 3-4 times then it will reset itself or take vehicle in to have their mechanic reset it with a ford software program called FORscan or FORDsys the only 2 programs to get into main computer. This is beyond the repair of my sons vehicle being corrected in a timely manner. Now it's really a safety issue with Ford and their engineers who are programming vehicles this way. There should be a nationwide lawsuit against them and they should be held accountable for their actions to the highest letter of the law. Hopefully no one has been injured or killed through their selfish desire to create income from vehicle issues. To risk the motorists life in this fashion has to be taken serious and why no one has brought this issues up before or if so why it is being ignored is absurd. I will not stop in my efforts to have this fixed before someone is seriously hurt.

The car has multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS". The car still brakes but only with much more force and brakes much more slowly. At first it was intermittent but now is stuck in this form. Ford has done a recall for my model (19S54) but my car was built 5 months after the last ones. It was manufactured in the same factory. Based on research, the fix seems to be replacing the ABS module and flushing out the brake fluid. I hope that the recall will eventually extend to later-built cars like my own.

Complete electronic power steering system failure. I cannot turn the steering wheel. This is a safety issue. I was fortunate that it happened in my driveway, but reading on line others have had accidents when their steering failed while driving. No warning lamp indicator was illuminated. A Ford dealership has diagnosed the problem, and said the car requires part replacement(s) that will cost me $2,500. This is already a recall on the 2011 and 2012 model years, and should also be on the 2010.

Abrupt Loss of Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering Assist (EPAS). Faulty Steering Gear Assembly. Dash Lights: SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW SERVICE ADVANCETRAC Issue occurred when turning car off to pump gas, then issue was present when starting car back up. Problem confirmed by Ford Service Center. No warnings prior to issue occurring. Issue occurred unpredictability. Research shows it appears to be a known Ford manufacturing defect with the electrical steering assembly assist parts on these models. 2011 and newer models qualify for a power steering recall, but my 2010 model does not. $2,000-$3,000 repair.

I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and as I was approaching a red signal light I applied pressure to my brakes and seen my dash alert me of my ABS system failing and my advanced Trac needs to be serviced due to my brakes not working properly I was almost involved in a serious collision. i had to pull on my e brakes to prevent injury, in result off I pulled off into the nearest lot and called a tow truck to take me and my vehicle to the dealership I was given a crazy repair charge and i was doing some research and i seen a recall for this issue, however i was advised that my VIN does not have any recalls. This is unsafe and needs to be addressed.
