I was driving home doing about 50 mph, and all of a sudden the car lost power and I was unable to accelerate. The car started shaking violently and it finally stopped down to about 2-3 mph. I took it to the Ford dealership and had to pay $824 to replace the throttle body. Ford never mentioned anything about this being a problem. I have seen numerous news stories about this very problem.

I was driving my car on the expressway and suddenly my engine died with no warning and the rpms dropped. I came very close to an accident and luckily was able to get it off the road. People drive very fast and I feel lucky to be unhurt. I have a defective throttle body and I can no longer drive my car till it is fixed. This is very dangerous and should be recalled. They say the circuit board is faulty and is sending the engine the wrong signal. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed. Please add this to your list of other complaints. I was driving about 60 mph on the highway, and the engine stopped. I coasted to the side of the road, and turned off the key to reset the alarm code. The car started and drove normally for about 2 miles, then the engine stopped again. Within 5 miles the car would barely run at all, the engine was mis-firing and clunking along at 2 mph and stalling every few feet. I had no previous indications of a problem. The car was running fine, and then within 5 miles it was completely un-drivable. The problem was failure of the throttle body, cost $525 to repair. There are many reports of this problem on the internet.

My 18 year old son was getting ready to get on the freeway and the vehicle suddenly slowed to 30 mph. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body at our expense. This issue is so common that Ford is having a hard time producing enough throttle bodies. The part is on national back order and this particular dealer had a car in the shop that had waited 1 month for this part. This is a serious safety issue. One minute later and my son would have been doing 65mph on the freeway. Imagine if he was in traffic and suddenly could not travel faster than 30 mph. In addition, since this event the Ford sync and bluetooth features no longer work.

I was traveling at about 45 mph and without any warning my car stalled. It would not accelerate at all. I had to just let it coast and attempt to get out of the road. The car was still running, but very rough. After I cut the engine off, in a few minutes it did restart. But by this time a deputy had shown up. He would not let me try to drive the car, because it could happen again and would be a safety issue. I had to have the car towed. When they checked the computer nothing showed up. I then took my car my car to a local Ford dealer. And without even checking the car the service person told me that it was the throttle body. As this is a common problem with my car. Ford needs to recall this part. This is going to cost me around $600 to repair my car. This is extremely dangerous, if I had been in heavy traffic someone could have been injured.

I was driving home from the local store and came up to a light. As I started to turn right and accelerate, the engine suddenly stopped accelerating. The incident occurred at about 1000 RPM's. the "service engine soon" light appeared. I quickly pulled over to the side of the street and turned the car off. I turned the car back on and got no more then 100 yards without the same thing happening again. I repeatedly did this until I managed to get home. A tow truck took it into the dealership and they said the throttle body was bad so they replaced it. I'm thankful this didn't happen when I was turning left with oncoming traffic which could have easily resulted in an accident.

Upon accelerating from a dead stop at a traffic signal, I could not accelerate past 15 mph. I pulled over to the side of the road an the car was idling very roughly and on the verge of stalling. I turned the car off, waited 1-2 minutes, restarted the car and the car was running "normally". I don't recall if any of the dashboard lights came on. I took the vehicle into my local Ford dealer and was told that the issue is the throttle body and it needs to be replaced and that the stalling could happen at any given time. Unfortunately the part id on back-order for 1-2 months so I need to live with this dangerous issue for some time. The car is a 2010 Ford Fusion. I am the original owner (purchased in Dec '09) and this is the first occurrence of this stalling issue.

I was driving on the highway at about 65 mph when my vehicle lost power. Pushing the gas did nothing. I had to coast off the side of the road. Restarting my vehicle seemed to resolve the issue. The second incident was in town. I was driving about 35 mph when my vehicle lost power. I pulled off to the side, the vehicle sputtered as if it might die. I turned off the engine and then restarted it. I drove about 1/4 mile to my mechanic who was unable to diagnose the problem with his scanner. He thinks it is the " drive by wire " or a sensor.

We just bought the car the day before and as my son backed it out of the driveway the car lost power. After turning the engine off and on again he was able to drive the car normally. The car was driven without any problems for about two weeks. But after about two weeks, the car was being driven at about 40mph when it suddenly lost power. After coasting to the side of the road and turning the engine off and on again it briefly regained power but the car went only about 100ft before losing power again. After letting the car sit for 20 minutes we were able to start it and drive the remaining half mile home. We had dismissed the first incident as possibly being a mistake on the part of my son driving an unfamiliar vehicle and perhaps not shifting properly when backing out of the driveway. But the second incident was clearly an indication of a failure on the part of the vehicle. It was not safe to drive. Although the problem was intermittent, a loss in power could happen at any time and could potentially leave us helpless without power in a dangerous situation. We had the car towed to a Ford dealer who determined that the problem was a bad throttle body. They replaced it at a cost to us of $537. A throttle body that fails at less than 100,000 miles is defective and should be recalled because of the safety issue.

Six months after purchasing my Fusion brand new, it left me stranded 6 hours away from home on the side of the road with a wrench light on and no acceleration. After a tremendous tow bill that Ford would not cover (yes I have the extended warranty) I had my car brought to my local dealer and found to be and replaced the throttle body. Yesterday on my way to work, it started doing the sputtering and jerking again and that wrench light came on and I lost all power control to my vehicle. Thankfully I was able to make it to the side of the road. After a few mins it did crank back and I was able to drive about 15 miles before it did it again and this time my engine light came on. Now my local Ford dealership is saying all I can do is pay to have it fixed again because my extended warranty just ran out and it is going to be expensive. I don't understand why a recurring problem can't be fixed. It is very unsafe to have a car do this while on a highway. Especially when you have kids in the car like I do.

My wife and son were in the car and had stopped at a busy 4-way stop intersection. With no prior warning the car started to shake and the check engine light and battery light came on. The power steering was barely working and the car stalled just past the intersection. They were able to restart the car, but the minute the car was put in drive it would start shaking etc.... we had to have the car towed back to van bortel Ford in East rochester NY for repairs. The dealership stated that we needed a new throttle body ($465.34) and a new battery ($123.90) on a 3 year old car. They indicated they new of a possible recall and told us to hang on to our receipt for a refund if the recall happens.

First incident was vehicle stalled while entering a intersection from a stop sign. Stalled half way into intersection and had a near miss of being hit do to loss of power and other traffic not having to stop in their direction. Car was dieseling when it came to a stop, had to be shut off, then restarted with no problems or indicator lights afterward. This same stalling has happened at highway speeds of 60 mph + and on side roads at 30 mph. From stops to full power going up hills or trying to pass another car. No power to move car exist once it has happened, you must come to a complete stop, shut completely off and then restart. This has happened at least a dozen times over last few weeks.took to dealer today and was told throttle body is showing a fault and parts can only be received by overnight delivery "as this part is in very high demand and they can't order one in and get it by regular delivery".
