  • 76,000 miles
I was traveling on the hwy going home. The little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and I could not accelerate at all. When I tried to press the gas pedal it would not do anything at all. I managed to pull over to the median. I tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. This solved the problem temporarily. This happened to me three times the rest of my way home. Without warning the light comes on and you have no acceleration. I'm being told it could be the throttle body.

I was driving in windber, pa going around a sharp turn with a tri axle coal truck on my bumper, as I went to press the gas pedal the car made a pop noise. Looked down at my dash and the wrench light came on right away, I could not get any gas to the engine, I tried to get off the road but there was not a shoulder on the highway.I immediately put my turn signal on and the car just coasted along the side until it came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway on the curve, might I add. I turn my car off and called my husband told him he told me to call laurel Ford and see if they could tow it for us. I left the car sit because I was going to a appointment in somerset I did not want to be late, when I returned from the appointment the car started right up no wrench light I drove to laurel Ford, I went in talked to the service rep they looked over my car and advised me that the computer did not locate a problem, but they have found that the throttle body has been the problem with this model of car. He explained that the part was on national back order and was unsure when he could get the part. I drove the car home that day with no problem, I attempted to drive the car again to go to work on tueday 7 miles from home the car did the same thing went to give it gas and the car shut off I pulled to the side of the road and turned the engine off and it started back up no wrench light. Went to work going home from work it did it again and not only the wrench light but the engine light came on as well. I got the car home called laurel Ford and took the car to them for repair there is not part to be found its on national back order and its been two weeks I have called Ford and have not given me a time or date of where the part is or if the part is available. I called Ford service twice and got the same answer I feel that Ford has dropped the ball on this not happy.

Driving about 35 miles an hour when the car makes a muffled clunking noise and the speedometer starts going towards 0. I pull over, turn off the car turn it back on and it runs fine for about 5 miles and does it again, this time the noise is louder, the engine light comes on and I can smell burning. I was able to pull into a parking lot, called a tow truck and had it towed to the dealership. I've just been told it is the throttle body and it will be about $600 to repair it. My warranty expired 34 days ago.

When exiting off of the expressway, I lost the ability to accelerate. Coasted to the side of the road, put in park, and as I was shutting if off it shook/rattled and the wrench light came on. Waited a few minutes and restarted and it was fine. Continued to drive and on August 2, as I was driving on the expressway again (traveling approx. 70 mph) I again lost the ability to accelerate, however, this time I didn't stop or slow down before hand. Again I coasted to the side of the road, shut down (still got the rattle and wrench light) and restarted. When I took it to the dealership, they stated the throttle body needed to be replaced. The car is only three years old! this is very dangerous thing to happen especially on the expressway since you can possibly be rear ended in addition to not having the ability to pull over. I would hope that this issue will be looked into and corrected to the best of Ford's ability before something worse happens because of this malfunction.

I was driving along an expressway at 55 miles an hour when the car suddenly slowed down and would not accelerate upon stepping on the gas pedal. I had to pull over and turn the car off. When I turned it back on, it ran fine but the wrench light came on and then went off. The next day, the same thing happened on an expressway. I took it to a local garage but no lights were on and it did not repeat the problem. A few weeks later, driving on a street road at 35 mph, the same thing happened. It occurred again a few minutes later on a highway at 55 mph. This time the check engine light came on and stayed on. I went to my local garage the next day and they put the computer on the car and found the problem was the throttle activator. I have just left a message with the dealer today and am waiting to hear back if they will fix it even though the car is no longer under warranty. I am very concerned about driving the car as my daily drive to work is on expressways with limited access to a shoulder to park on.

The first time I experienced the problem; I was accelerating going up a slight incline, the engine quit. I had to put it park and restart it, in traffic. This same issues happened several more times, the car just quit while driving. On July 27th, it happened again along with a new issue: I was at a stop light and it started running ruff and shut itself off. This incident happened twice.

The first incident I was driving down the highway doing 55 mph and my car shut off. I was able O start the car again and get out of the road. I replaced the battery since later that day my card wouldn't turn on. The second incident I was headed to the airport on my morning commute; I came to a stop sign and the car accelerated and the engine began to rev very loudly then I my car stalled out. I have my car in the shop and they advised that I have a bad throttle body and it will require replacement, the cost is $345 for the part and $190 for the labor. All while I am still paying on the loan.

This has happened on many occasions, from driving in stop and go traffic to driving on a highway. After driving the vehicle for some time, a wrench light comes on on the dashboard, there is no fuel going to the car and when I pull to the side, the car stutters like it wants to go and then stops again. After turning the car off and starting it again, the car drives like nothing ever happened. I have gone online and there are a lot of people who were complaining about the same thing and Ford has not recalled the part. I guess someone has to die in an accident for them to take action.

While resuming travel after stopping at a stoplight the engine would not allow me to continue to accelerate. As there was a line of traffic behind me, I quickly turned on my 4-way flashers and coasted to the side of the road. After shutting off the ignition and waiting for a few minutes, I tried restarting the car. The engine restarted normally and I was able to proceed with full throttle functionally. This same problem happened to me three more times since the first incident. I have read on the internet that several people are experiencing this problem and that Ford is not issuing a recall to fix this problem.

While driving on the highway at 60, in a section of highway with no breakdown lane and multiple highways merging together, the car suddenly lost all throttle power and wrench light went on. Coasted to side of road barely being missed by several other vehicles and trucks. I shut car off and started again and was ok and able to get off highway. Once off highway car kept loosing throttle power every mile until I got it to the dealership. Dealership says this is an issue with 2010 Fusion and that part is not available until end of October! (already had throttle body and plate cleaned a few weeks ago when it happened on a cold start and code came up P2111 throttle actuator control stuck open. Car was fine until now.)

When leaving home to go to the store, accelerator peddle stopped responding shortly after shifting into drive after leaving the driveway. The engine idled very roughly, so I shifted into neutral and pulled over. I put the transmission into park, turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. It idled fine, so I continued on my trip. Shortly after, stopping at a stop sign, the same thing happened when pulling away from the stop. I was turning left, so I had to immediately turn right and pull over to avoid an accident. Restarted engine and continued to my destination. The same behavior occurred again on Y way back home when starting another left turn.

I was traveling on roadway at approximately 35 mph when throttle suddenly stopped responding. I pressed the accelerator repeatedly but engine appeared to stay at idle and vehicle slowed to a stop. A wrench symbol lit up on dashboard. Shut vehicle off and restarted and engine began running normally. Fortunately there were no vehicles behind me or intersecting with me which I would have had to avoid.

The vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. Restarted and the condition recurred approximately in 3 or 4 miles. Again, I turned the key off then restarted and again, the condition repeated after several miles down the road. The car was taken to the Ford dealership the next day and no code was available for the mechanic to diagnose. The condition did not reoccur for six weeks and resurfaced again with identical symptoms. Returned the vehicle to the dealership where this time they affirmed the throttle body failure. The part is unavailable at this time because of high demand exhausted the availability of the unit.

Driving ~40 mph, took foot off accelerator, wrench indicator light turned on, could no longer accelerate, had to roll onto breakdown lane. Turned engine off, could not start car 1st attempt. Car started on 2nd attempt, and the light went off. Has occurred 4 times now, 3 times at speeds of ~40 mph and one time while slowing down for a traffic light. Very scary for the young drivers in my family.

I was driving along the tollway and had to slow down due to congestion. My car made a lunge, like a hard downshift and was left with no response from the engine. The engine was running as indicated by the tachometer and power steering, however I was not able to accelerate. After pulling over to the side of the road, nearly being rear ended by oncoming traffic, I turned on the flashers and shut the engine off. I let the car set for about 30 seconds before restarting. Upon restart the car ran fine as though nothing had happened. I had a second occurrence just today (8/1/2013). I now have an engine light and have read the code - P2112. The dealership/service department that I called mentioned that this is a common issue with the Ford Fusion.
