I was driving on a crowded highway at the speed limit of 55 when the engine slowed down and did not respond to the gas pedal. I was able to pull to the side of the road and shut the car off. After several minutes I was able to restart the car. The situation was very dangerous. This was the third time that the vehicle had lost power. The other two times I was just starting from a traffic light so it was not as dangerous. The dealer replaced the throttle body to resolve the problem. It definitely did not seem like this was the first time the dealer had seen the problem. I think this is a serious safety defect in this vehicle.

While driving in city traffic vehicle suddenly seemed to lose drive power. Wrench lite came on as I tried my best to move out of harms way.downtown traffic is dangerous enough without this exciting vehicle failure. Upon further research it appears this is the limp-home mode which one encounters when a throttle body has malfunctioned. I find it hard to believe that Ford has not notified owners of this dangerous situation. It is clear upon internet research that this is occurring far too often. When my Ford service rep told me that this was not covered under warranty on my 37 month old car I left in disgust. I then had the throttle body replaced by a reputable repair shop for the sum of $350. I trust NHTSA will find that this is a real danger and insist upon a recall or information notice to all owners. I can't believe Ford hasn't done this on their own Accord.

We were traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour when the car started to jerk and the wrench light came on the dash. We were unable to accelerate. We were in the middle of traffic, almost causing a wreck, and had to make our way to the curb to turn the car off. After we started it again the wrench light went off and we were able to make it back to where we were staying. We were out of town and we had to take the car to the local dealer in that area. They said it was probably the throttle body sensor and that most of the 2010 Ford Fusion had this same problem and that part was on back order. We were in South Carolina at the time and had to make it back to Virginia. The engine light also came on and we took it to advance auto where the code P2111 showed up as the error which is the throttle body sensor. We have an appointment to take the car to the dealership later this week for this problem, but we cannot drive our car now. I called Ford today and was informed by customer service that this is not a recall as of now. This is going to get someone killed. This is very dangerous because you cannot accelerate. After researching on the internet this is a problem with most 2010 Ford Fusion and feel this should be a recall by the Ford Motor Company.

Driving along and vehicle goes into limp mode. Cannot accelerate. Pull over turn off car and restart. Car starts up and runs fine until it happens again which has happened several times now and more frequent. Can't afford to pay dealer so I have to but the part and install it myself. No codes show up just a wrench. Talked to the dealer and they are very familiar with the problem and told me what to replace but if I take it to them they will charge a fee for the diagnostic even though they know what the problem is, then they charge another fee for replacing the part.

While driving at 45mph lost throttle control. Gas pedal had no response. Was able to coast to side of highway. The "wrench light" came on the instrument panel. I restarted the vehicle and the throttle was responsive, dove approx 1/4 mile and the same situation occurred; however, this time the check engine and wrench lights were illuminated. Turned vehicle off and on and warning lights reset and I had throttle control. Drove approx 1000 feet and lost throttle control again; however, this time I was making a turn through an intersection. I was able to coast through the intersection and off the highway onto the shoulder of the road. The check engine and throttle control/transmission(wrench) lights were illuminated. At this point I had the vehicle towed to the dealer.

I was merging onto a highway from another highway. I was traveling at approximately 65 mph so I could merge into flowing traffic. I was about to merge into the two lanes on my right as the two lanes I was coming from were ending. As I was about to merge into the lane on my right my vehicle lost power and could not accelerate. The service light came on. I stayed in my lane which was quickly coming to an end. I put on my 4 way flashers to alert the other cars I had an issue. I stayed left until I noticed the cars on my right were aware that I needed to get over to the shoulder on the right side of the road. I pulled off the road and came to a stop. The car felt as if it was shuttering. I turned the car off and waited for a few minutes and then turned the car back on. The service light was now off and the shuttering was gone. When I took my vehicle to my mechanic it did not give any codes. Since then it has happened four more times. The last time engaging the check engine light. My mechanic was able to pull a code and it identified the throttle body. My mechanic contacted Ford who will not cover a replacement part at this time, but stated they are aware of the issue and have 17,000 parts on back order.

As I was driving down the road my car stopped accelerating, started spitting and sputtering (felt like it had ran out of gas) and displayed the wrench light on the dash. I cut the vehicle off and started it back up and had no further issues for quite a long time. Almost a year later (June of 2013) the vehicle did the exact same thing. This time cutting it off and back on again did not fix the issue. My car wont even make it half a mile down the road now with out shuttering and sputtering to a stop.

I was driving down the highway at 65mph when all of a sudden my car lost fuel pressure. I put the gas pedal to the floor and nothing happened. I put on my hazard lights and was able to get off to the side of the road as other cars were flying by me on both sides. All the electrical functions were still on but the wrench light came on. I shut the car off and restarted it and the light went out and I went on my way. There was no warning. It happened 2 more times about a month a part each time and always after I had been on the road for at least 15 minutes. After the third time I took it to the Ford dealership and had to wait over two weeks to get a new throttle body. Please make them recall this part before someone gets killed!

My Ford Fusion has been having issues accelerating for about a year now. I have taken it in to be checked out and can't seem to find the problem. The night of June 30th I had drove to work, noticing it riding rather rough, but was able to make it okay. Leaving work though I stopped at a local store, while I was parked and idling the car staled with a battery light on. I had just purchased a brand new battery, which was annoying enough in a 2010, just six months ago so I assumed the battery was bad again. I was going to try to jump the car when I realized it would start again, I drove a few feet and the same thing happened. It was able to make it about 30 miles home luckily but continued staling the whole way home. It even staled when I was going 55 mph. I got it to the dealership the next morning and they called to tell me it was the throttle body that had gone bad and needed to be replaced. After doing some research, I came across a website stating that I was not alone in this and that many other Ford cars have also had this issue. This problem has cost me 500+ over the past year just in costs to the Ford dealership. I can't imagine what kind of money I have lost in gas too. I wanted to share my information so something might be done before someone gets hurt from this problem with the Ford throttle body.

The first incident happened when pulling away from a stop light. When I pressed the accelerator there was no response yet the car was running and in gear. The wrench symbol was on the dash. I cut the car off and restarted. The problem was gone. Later that day I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph and the car just cut off. I pulled over, turned off the ignition and restarted and everything was again fine. Later it happened again while pulling away from a stop light. I shut the engine off mad restarted. This again worked but the engine light stayed on.

Driving down highway alternating in and out of traffic. At one point the traffic opens. I step on the gas and nothing happens. The car sputters and nearly stalls. I'm able to coast it into the breakdown lane, where it sits and sputters. I shut the car off, restarted it, and it seems to be fine. I drive to a restaurant and have dinner. The car sits for an hour. I get back in and the car drives for a few minutes, then stutters, nearly stalls, and limps along again. I restart the car again, and again it's fine. My wife has also indicated engine racing in first gear. Internet research indicates this is a very common issue with Ford's throttle bodies of this model / timeframe.

While driving about 45mpg my car 'stalled'. sudden loss of acceleration but motor was still running, wrench light popped on. I pulled over and let the car sit for a few minutes and upon restarting it the car ran ok. Took it to discount auto and pulled no codes. Thouht it was a fluke. It has happened 2 more times in the last 2 weeks. The last time it happened I was puttering to the shoulder of the road and was almost hit by an oncoming car. My 3 children and husband were in the car. Took it to mechanic and was told I will need to replace throttle body but it is on back order for 2-4 weeks, possibly more. In the meantime I refuse to put my daughters back in this deathtrap Ford calls a car. And like most people we can only afford one car so this is a huge inconveince to us. How many more cases need to be filed, how many more teriffied consumers will it take before a recall is done"!" plus drivetrain warranties supposedly do not cover these repairs. I come from a looong line of Ford family but I am counting down the days until I can get out of this car.

I was driving at night and the car stalled in the middle of an intersection, as I was accelerating from a full stop. I let the car roll through the intersection, and come to a full stop. The car had very ruff idle while stopped, and the accelerator was still unresponsive. I shut-off the car for few mins, and re-fired the engine. It started, but few mins later, stalled again. This time the check engine light and the service wrench were both illuminated. I was able to drive the car home, 40 miles and then to dealer for the repairs. During the driving to home and the dealer the car stalled a number of times. The speed did not seem to matter when the car stalled. I took the car to the dealer and they have to replace the engine's throttle body assembly. The throttle body replacement also required a reprogram of PCM. I hope this repair works, but it was very crazy to have the car stall while travel on the highway.

Turned off engine and turned it back on again 5. June 24, 2013. My husband was driving 65 in the fast lane of busy hwy 99. Wrench light came on, and vehicle suddenly slowed down. I put on flashers. He maneuvered to the slow lane, where speeding semi truck honked at us and nearly hit us. 6 June 28,2013 I was driving on a residential street at 35 mph when wrench came on, and vehicle I suddenly slowed down and I moved to the side of the street., turned off the engine, and restarted the car. Why is all the information about the cause of the error code (wrench) erased when car is turned off"????"

While traveling at highway speeds car will stall and have no power. Found to be throttle body sensor. Ford claims that there was no problem with the throttle body, but if you search the internet you can see several of cases involving the same problem. I feel Ford should have to repair under a recall because of such a wide spread problem. This is a huge safety concern when traveling and highway speeds and you lose power.

Vehicle stalled out at an intersection, check engine light and other dash indicators came on. Roadside assistance was contacted and the vehicle towed to our local dealership. Dealership advised this morning that the necessary part, an electronic throttle body, is on back-order nationwide and did not expect to have the part available for installation until the week of 7/8 at the earliest and that it was not covered under the warranty, thus costing approximately $500. A quick google search indicates that NHTSA has launched a probe into this issue..

While driving on 476 in pa, the car lost power and the gas pedal was unresponsive. I was able to pull over and when I turned off the engine a warning/event light went on indicating throttle/transmission issues. I was to call for assistence but waited a few minutes and started the car, and proceed to work ( about 40 minutes of driving. I called the dealership to make repair arrangement and was advised the car is drivable and that some of these throttle issues are "intermittent". the car stalled 3 more time on my way home, about 75 miles and it seemed to stall every 20 or so minutes. Car is now at the dealership awaiting replacement part(s).

My 2010 Fusion is experiencing the same loss of power issues (complete loss of accelerator response, followed by the wrench light appearing) related to the defective throttle body control. While sporadic at first, the frequency of the incidents has increased to where failure now happens almost every time the car is driven (the 25+ failures have occurred in all situations, at all speeds: At highway speeds, on side streets, accelerating up hills, pulling away from stoplights, etc). I have stopped driving the car because the last throttle failure occurred as I crossed a busy 4 lane highway and could've resulted in a deadly accident. When attempting to have the problem fixed in April, my local dealer claimed Ford had placed a "hold" on all throttle bodies and that a new design of the throttle body part was being shipped from the supplier in mid-May. (the dealer also informed me that, despite this being a part of the engine, the throttle body is not covered by the powertrain warranty.) when my "new" throttle body arrived at the dealership in mid-June and I came in to have the part replaced, I was told Ford had placed another "hold" on the part and my car could not be serviced at this time. If Ford will not fix this problem on their own, it is imperative the NHTSA protect consumers by forcing the company to address this problem and to do so at no cost to the car owners. For owners who are forced to drive this car, this is a life and death issue.

This was the third time it has happened. First time, replaced battery ($100). Car suddenly dies and loses all power. Able to restart, but with difficulty. Very dangerous, especially with a three-year old! was driving to the dealer to get it looked at and was going 60 mph and it just died, luckily was by an off-ramp so could exit freeway. After looking it up online (car is at the dealer as we speak and they have no clue on what's wrong), I determined it's a throttle body issue. Very dangerous!!!!!
