Fusion Sport 3.5L V6

Started to smell gas a few weeks after I bought the car in 2016. Didn't think anything of it and the smell eventually went away. Every so often the smell would come back and then go away. Took it to the dealer, they stated they looked it over and they couldn't see anything wrong with it.

Fast forward to Jan 2019 smell starts to come back with a vengeance. Took it to a trusted mechanic, took it to Autozone, and used my own code reader all came back with the same code P0453. Looking into this code online and found out multiple people had the same issue and it all revolved around the NHTSA recall "Fuel Tank May Crack" Called Ford about this issue and they gave me the runaround that my car VIN wasn't specifically in the affected recall vehicles.

Now I am left with a vehicle that may have a cracked fuel tank and Ford is not doing anything about it. I have put in a complaint with the NHTSA to reopen this recall and suggest others to do the same. We should not allow Ford to place our lives in danger over their own neglect. If others are having this issue and have gotten it resolved please let me know how?
