I put my vehicle in park and it kept going due to the shift linkage breaking, it remained in drive this is extremely unsafe and should not be happening to a 3 year old car with 88K on it. After doing some research I discovered this quite common among the newer Fusion's, Focus's and other Ford products...updated 01/04/17 the consumer stated the failure was caused by the plastic bushing that held the shifter cable onto the transmission linkage, which cracked due to dry rotting. This meant even though the lever was shifted into park, it was no longer attached to the transmission. Therefore, the vehicle was still in park. The vehicle was repaired by replacing the entire shifter cable. Updated 08/03/2017

The car has a harsh shift for 2/3. the shift is so harsh at times that it will jerk your head back. It will also at times drag from the 2/3 shift then jerk you. This happens on city streets on the highway if in traffic and it always happens after the car has been sitting for any amount of time. The car has been to the dealership four times for this problem and they tell me it is normal. I spoke with Ford today 6.23.16 and they have escalated the matter with the dealership.

Yellow wrench light keep coming on while driving only down the highway at 65 to 70 mph, it also intermittent therefore the dealer cannot ever find problem codes. The codes erase when you turn off the car. I lose half of engine power and no other controls work such as cruise control and manual shifting paddle shifting. I was also told that it was my : "PCM" that is giving me the trouble. Also the electric fan is running at full speed blowing out cold air, plus the smell of burning plastic. Also when the car is started and running for about 7 to 10 minutes, I turn on the heater at 73 degrees and it is warm. Then after turning on the heater and now leaving for work, I accelerate to get onto the freeway and soon noticed that the heater is now blowing cold air and I then turn the heater up higher to 77 then the same warmth come out then that goes away til I turn the heater way up to 83 degrees. This has never happened before, I had the coolant and oil replaced and it is still doing the same thing. I get two warnings showing the yellow wrench, "power reduced to cool down engine" and "engine overheat" the sunnyvale Ford dealer charged me $200 dollars to see what was wrong with my car and said they have found nothing. But this problem only happens on the freeway driving at 65 to 75 mph. Our freeways speed limits are high on interstates 5. I do see older Ford tempo's going 80 mph and passing me while I cannot go faster to get out of the way of others. Quite insulting to me while I spend out of pocket and Ford says nothing and I get back a broken car that works sometimes. The extended warranties I pay for does not cover anything so I'm paying for a car that is soon to fail and leave me stranded at the same time I have to pay for it. Ford continue to say my car is running well and returning it back to me with problems unfixed

The transmission in this vehicle has a harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd gears. For the most part all other shifts are smooth. The jerky shift happens all the time, not just when the car is cold. I'm afraid that this is causing damage to the interior of the transmission and that one day it will stop working altogether.

(takata recall) I hereby state that I was in a motor vehicle accident with this vehicle with no fault of my own. At the time of the accident 03/15/2014 this vehicle should have been totaled out but was not done so.the airbags did not deploy with the way and the impact that I was hit by other party. I than took this vehicle numerous of times to hasting Ford in greenville nc where they was suppose to have researched and properly checked and fixed everything detailed. I am yet to this day still having problems with this vehicle shifting gears caused by accident, body is coming apart, camara is not working and I am still suffering from the bodily injuries of my hip being shifted from accident. I am seeking legal attorneys at this time due to I feel that Ford could have taken better care and replaced this vehicle knowingly that this vehicle is not safe to me the custom. At this point I do feel that Ford should be responsible for any suffering and vehicle experience that I am enduring at this time. I would like to say thank you for your moral support. I was traveling down the main highway when another vehicle came from a side road driving 60 mph without breaking speed crashing into my 2013 Ford Fusion.the accident occurred in wake county nc. Around 12:45 P.M.

This is the 6th time I am taking my vehicle in. The first 5 times were for transmission issues. They found "trash" in my transmission and had to take it apart. That happened about 1 month ago. I now have a serious fuel leak. I purchased extended warranty, however, I am concerned that this vehicle is not safe to drive. I purchased this vehicle brand new and have had nothing but serious problems with it. I am concerned for the safety of myself and my kids. I do not even want my children in this car anymore. Are there any solutions to my situation?

The transmissions shutters at all speeds. The car stalls on red lights. The car stalls going around curves. The car stalls going both up and down hills. Ford put out and "extended warrant" but does not have the parts to fix the problem. We have talked to two different dealers and a regional manager for Ford, but nothing is getting done.

I was driving sw bound on hwy 20 in loganville, ga when my car surged and powered off at 50 mph 'the vehicle turned off on a very busy road. I just bought this car last year. This is the second time this has happened this first time it happened Ford replaced my entire steering column. I had zero steering capability, the engine was off and unresponsive and all of my electronic panels went dark except for a message saying "transmission is not in park" and the engine warning light (yellow) came on. I was able to hit the hazard lights and barely inch to the right side on the highway. There was a truck behind me that had to make an evasive lange change maneuver to the left in order to avoid collision. Once I came to a stop I immediately turned my video camera on my phone and started documenting what was happening in the vehicle. I have this video readily available for you if you need it to further your investigation.

I rented a 2013 Fusion to take my son back to college. On the way home I heard a noise under the car, I pulled into a parking lot placed the car in park but left it running. As I was bent down looking beneath the car it went into reverse and started accelerating backward. My daughter who was with me had the passenger door open talking to me and when the car started to back up the door knocked me over and dragged me beneath it for approximately 4-6 feet before she could get the car to stop. I had several bruises on my right side along with bruised ribs where the door got stuck on them when it dragged me. I also injured my left elbow when I fell to the ground which hurt for several months and I could not put any kind of pressure on it for that time. I reported the incident to the rental company and Ford. The diagnostics report from the rental company came back indicating there were no issues with the car. Ford responded with an E-mail to continue talking to the rental company as only they could help me.
