On February 11th 2020, I purchased a 2016 Ford Fusion with 73,000 miles from american car center in West columbia, S C. on February 23rd I was riding on I26 and my car started overheating. I pulled into a parking lot. I opened the hood and all my antifreeze and and water was spouting out of the reservoir. I put enough water back in it to take it back to the dealership. The dealership directed me to take the vehicle to pep boys on broad river road, columbia South Carolina to find and fix the problem. The problem was with the thermostat and the thermostat housing. Pep boys had the car for about 5 days to repair. I get the car back on February 28th 2020. The car was fine until March 12th. That morning I was on my way to work and I heard a blunt sound coming from my vehicle and the vehicle just cut off while I was on the highway and the check engine light came on. I had enough power to make it to work. When I left work for the day, the car cut off again while I was driving on the interstate. I once again pulled over and got enough power to make it to the car dealer. When I got to the dealer one of the salesman went to auto zone to do a diagnostic and the codes came back with a fuel issue. I then dropped the car off to richards auto repair in West columbia, Carolina, he did a diagnostic and notified me that the tube assembly needed to be replaced. He did the work and the car ran ok. On March 22, while driving, the temperature gauge started moving torward the H meaning the car is running hot again. I recorded a video of the temperature gauge moving up and down and also the "power reduced to lower engine temp" message came on on the dashboard. I turned the car off once parked and did not start it again for a couple of days. On March 24th, I was outside of a local store and in park and the temperature gauge moved again to the H while the car was on and idling. Consumer stated car overheated again on April 11th.

The airbag warning light was on and stayed on. The passenger airbag light said the airbag was off when a person was in the passenger seat. I had to turn the car off while in park in my driveway and turn it back on after a few minutes. The light went off and didn't come back on. The transmission does not shift smooth when switching gears from park to drive.

1. air bag sensor stays on, as if I have a malfunctioning unit that will burst at any time. No matter what I do, it always stays on. There is no way to turn the sensor or the airbags off, so I cannot disengage them and keep them from exploding unnecessarily. 2. the transmission does not shift properly. It is jumped when automatically shifting between third and fourth gear as if there is not enough fluid to allow for a smooth transition.

When I'm going down hill at high speeds, the transmission down shift very hard when I apply the brake at all. It sounds like a very loud revving. Once I press the accelerator again it goes back to normal. It's very concerning, my car has 59,000 mile on it and dealer says they couldn't feel anything, well that probably because they didn't drive it down hill.

The car showed it was in park. It was actually still in gear even showing otherwise. There has been a recall on the same make and model (2016 Ford Fusion). The problem was with a faulty, and detached shift cable. There have been over 500,000 Ford vehicles recalled for this specific issue. This was the exact problem with our 2016 Ford Fusion with 88,101 miles. We just played a total of $278 to have the vehicle towed and the part replaced. Ford is telling me that our specific VIN # was not included in the recall of the other 500,000 vehicles this far. How can this company get away with this problem? I also contacted the closest Ford dealer prior to having the car towed. After finding that the vehicle would not be covered under warranty, we had to have towed and fixed and the closest body shop to where the car was broke down and still in gear. We set the parking break to keep the vehicle from rolling away. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Got in the parked vehicle and the display on the dash said the vehicle was in neutral but shifter was in park and would not move. The transmission linkage bushing had failed and the cable was no longer connected to transmission. This is a known recall issue for this model. Dealership advised the recall does not apply to my VIN and I am responsible for repairs.

The bushings on my 2016 Ford Fusion broke. Luckily we were parked when it broke but it has disabled our vehicle. If we didn't have another vehicle we would be stranded. When we call Ford corporation and the local Ford dealership we are told that we are responsible for getting it to the dealership and if it is the bushings then they would only cover the repair and not the towing or anything else. I asked what would have happened if I was driving and they said it would be the same thing. This is a joke that we should be responsible for any cost due to faulty manufacture parts on their end. They should be doing more to make it right. Because we don't have money right now to tow our vehicle 40 miles to the nearest Ford dealership we had to drive in our other vehicle to waste our gas to get the $5 part from the dealership so that we can hopefully repair it ourselves. Ford said they'll reimburse us for the part but not for the gas to get the part.

Vehicle gear shifter shows vehicle is in park, but the dash light for neutral is illuminated. Vehicle states transmission is not in park when ignition is turned off and vehicle rolls. Ford Motor Company chose a recall on 2016 Ford Fusion with a 6-speed automatic transmission which is the vehicle I own. When entered VIN number into system it shows no recall. But recall number 18S20 shows it is valid on my vehicle even though it is supposed to be and they will not cover the repairs. Vehicle was stationary in my driveway when this happened.

Owner of vehicle was driving home from school in manhattan. He proceeded onto the 59th street bridge ramp when vehicle lost power and shut off.. he then put the vehicle in park and restarted.. when he shifted out of park, 'vehicle not in park illuminated on the dashboard notification.. light illuminated in all gear selections besides park and neutral. Vehicle would not drive forward or in reverse and eventually had to be towed via triple a(aaa). Vehicle was jacked up the next day and fluid appeared to be leaking from between the seams of the the transmission casings, as well as from the front pan cover. Grey rtv silicone was present around the pan cover and flaked off with little effort. Vehicle was last serviced at crown Ford lynbrook after many complaints and no resolution from Ford service on jamaica avenue. Crown Ford claimed they inspected the transmission, found no fault other than being low on fluid. Fluid was drained out for measuring and inspecting.. over 7 quarts drained out and the fluid was very thin, and black with specs in the fluid.. a technician friend scanned for codes and generic code shift solenoid D was pulled..

2016 Fusion was in park turned off, started as normal, put it in R to back out of a parking spot, pressed break pedal to shift into D but my vehicle got stuck in R then shut off on its own. Put my shifter in P but the light on my dash still reflected that it was in R throwing the error message "transmission not in park", along with other random error msgs, exp: Stabilitrac, traction control, advancetrac, engine hot (it was not),put transmission in P to start/stop, etc. My backup camera was stuck in reverse camera mode being the tranny is stuck in reverse. Ebrake worked fine so I engaged that to keep car from rolling. I removed the center counsel, cupholder and shift casings to try the red manuel shift lever that is under the shift mechanism to make sure it was in fact I'm park, it was. Tried starting it while in the neutral position- nothing. Thought maybe it was the "brain" so I disconnected battery, let sit for 20min to clear out and reset- nothing. Researched online for a minute found quickly other 2016 Fusion owners having the same problem and it being the recall of the: Power train: Automatic transmission: Lever and linkage: Floor shift. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles equipped with 2.5 liter engines. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in park. My husband replaced the #1 bushing and that fixed it. You need a clamp/press to correctly lock it in place so I had to drive home with it showing in park yet in drive, keeping it in drive not using reverse or park until I got to my destination to install correctly. Clearly recall warranted but not showing for my VIN when searched.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. While the contact was changing gears from park into drive, the gear went into reverse on its own. The contact stated that when shifting into park, the gear display indicated the park gear was selected; however, the vehicle still reversed. The contact stated that the 'transmission not in park' warning message appeared. The contact's brother, an independent mechanic, was able to repair the vehicle by manually moving the gear into park. Later that day, the failure recurred. The contact called paul miller Ford (located at 975 E new circle rd, lexington, ky 40505, (859) 317-2061) and the manufacturer and notified them of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Ford recall 18S20 for shifter linkage bushing. My vehicle has the same failure, but I'm being told that my vehicle is not affected due to date of manufacture (12/2015). Vehicle was placed in reverse, backed out of a parking space. When attempting to shift into drive, the transmission did not respond and was still in reverse. Inspection and troubleshooting found the shift linkage end detached from the transmission shift lever.
