Vehicle is a Plug In Hybrid, it was left in the garage (first floor of the house) overnight charging the EV battery. Sometime in the night, plugged in, no key in the ignition, the engine started and ran until it ran out of gas (in the garage with the door closed and my son sleeping on the 2nd floor over the garage). We were lucky no one died of carbon monoxide poising. In the morning the 12v engine battery was dead, smelled like it may burned up, my guess is the battery dying confused the computer. The vehicle is out of warranty, taking it to the dealer will cost me $1,000. I'm guessing that replacing the 12V battery will fix it (which is a lot cheaper). I don't plan on ever putting it back in the garage but someone needs to warn everyone else that has one of these!

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle, he was unable to link his phone to the vehicle-??s computer module without warning. While researching the issue, the contact discovered a manufacturer-??s recall for similar vehicles regarding the failure. The dealer was contacted about the failure and was informed that they were unable to assist him. The contact was referred to the manufacturer. Once the manufacturer was notified of the issue, the contact was informed that there would be no assistance because the Vin was not included in the recall. The contact was given a case number and was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

We purchased a used 2016 Ford Fusion with about 11,000 miles on it. Within the first 2 weeks we started having issues. These issues have been going on for several years with no fix from Ford. The issues involve the dash not working, no heat, AC, no power steering, no break lights, no headlights, no turn signals. We go to start the car and the main screen never turns on. Basically we have the ability to use the gas and brake and nothing else. We-??ve had the car back to the dealership multiple times. Each time they-??ve hooked the computer up to the car they-??ve said it throws so many codes they don-??t know where to start. They wipe the codes, give us the car back and say if it does it agin bring it back. Well we did just that and the usual process repeated. They told us today they couldn-??t fix what was wrong unless the problem happened while they-??re driving it. 2 times now I-??ve narrowly avoided an accident because of the cars electrical system dying while driving it. This car is unsafe to drive as this happens randomly. Ford has been less than helpful at resolving this issue since we-??ve bought the car. We-??ve got several warranties on this car and it seems to be all for nothing. We also have video and picture proof of these incidents. Ford refuses to look at them stating they need the vehicle to do it while they-??re driving it after the massive amounts of codes are cleared.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the electrical system malfunctioned causing the instrument panel to become inoperable. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the vehicle as well. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

At approximately 125000 miles, the vehicle displayed the check engine light and was experiencing difficulty restarting after refueling. Local auto parts store code reader displayed etc P1450. Online research pointed to a faulty cannister purge valve. This fault and accompanying symptoms were outlined in recall # 18S32. This recall is not currently applicable to my VIN. Diagnosis performed by sanders Ford in swansboro, nc confirmed faulty purge valve.

Recently, both of the front heated and cooled seats on my Ford Fusion stopped working. I went to my local Ford dealer, where I purchased the car, to have them look at it. They explained to me that the burnt connector is due to a failure of the scme module and that both the connector and scme would have to be replaced at a cost of $596.11. I explained to them that I don't believe the module is failed, and that regardless, a module failure should never result in a connector burning as all this circuitry should be fuse protected against overcurrent without burning. I told them that I believed the module appears to be failed on their diagnostics system because the ground to the module has melted and has thus become disconnected. I completed some investigation and the failure appears to be related to insufficient grounding to the scme module (seat climate control module) under the passenger seat that results in overcurrent to a ground pin to the scme, which results in the connector melting and becoming disconnected from the scme. I am concerned due to fire risk in the passenger compartment as well as any impact this failure may have on the seat airbags. I was able to fix the problem myself by replacing the connector and adding a second ground wire to the scme to provide proper grounding. Attached is a picture of the melted wire harness connector on my car.

The accessory protocol interface module (apim) fails after a few years, leaving the car phone inoperable on the sync system, forcing the user to manually dial and place calls on their cell phone while driving, which has become illegal in many states as it takes the drivers eyes off the road for periods at a time. The Ford Fusion also has issues with leakage in the trunk. I was under the assumption that I was the only one, until searching the internet to find that various Fusion owners have experienced the same issue. I believe this is a safety issue, because it may start to affect the lights in the trunk or any other electrical systems that run through it, start to rust areas in the trunk, and cause mold if not properly dried immediately.

I was driving on the highway straight with cruise control set and suddenly it felt like I hit a huge pothole, but I didnt. Shortly after 4 dash lights came on which are the ABS, traction control, traction control off, and tire pressure monitor fault. Steering is harder and brakes do not work sometimes. The code, when hooked up comes back as ABS module system. Also after this incident the bluetooth in the car disconnects randomly about every 3 days. I have to unhook the battery to rest it to be able to use the bluetooth function again.

My trunk kept popping open once in a while. I finally left my key fob a long way from the vehicle and it still popped open. I eat my lunch in my car at work and I was sitting there and all of the sudden the trunk popped open by itself and then I heard the door locks click open. So I decided when I finished my lunch to lock it up and put my keys back in my office. Later I walked out because someone told me my trunk was open. Not only was my trunk wide open but my door was unlocked. I was home one day and we had temperatures in the 80's that day and the car was wigging out. The key pad on the side was lighting up and fading out and the trunk was clicking like crazy (it was already in the open position) and I kept hearing the doors unlocking constantly. This must've happend all night long because my battery was dead in the morning. I made an appointment at penske Ford in la mesa, ca. I brought it in and he said he never heard of the problem. But online there are quite of few people that have this issue. He asked me about my battery because I told him it killed it and I had to charge it. He looked and it was over 5 years old. So, I replaced the battery. So, my wife told me it was wide open again this morning at 5:30 am. Now I have to bring it back to Ford. Iwith so many people having the same issue. Can't someone make them do a recall on this" why should we have to pay out of our pockets for their inability to build a quality vehicle" now I have to drop it off there and they said that they have to wait for the issue to happen so they can see for themselves. I'm officially carless until they figure it out. Nothing like spending over $22,000 on a car that I can't use. Oh.. also it happens while I'm driving so the trunk pops open and blocks my entire rear view mirror.

As I was driving the wrench symbol came on (see manual), then ABS, traction control, engine fluid temp, no directionals, no heat or directionals, no dash lights, low tire pressure, and hill assist lights all came on and off. I was doing highway speeds. While this is a new to me car I have always had Ford including an Excursion and more recently an 07 Focus that died at 300,000. I never had any issues with them albeit they were both new. I am totally disappointed in this vehicle and it really has me thinking about never buying a Ford again.

Steering wheel is locked and no power steering. I think it's due to recalls on Ford Fusion. My car doesn't have one but I think it should. The recall is the electric power assist system. My car is only four years old I shouldn't have this problem. The car was parked when this happened but what if we were on the highway.

Cross traffic system fault and blind spot system fault warnings intermittently appear. When this happens the climate control, entertainment control shuts off. All windows other than the driver's window cannot be operated from the driver's control. Other controls on the touchscreen become inoperable. The windshield wipers will turn on and swipe once or twice even though there is no moisture and low humidity. These things will happen while driving and then go back to normal operation while driving two to 20 minutes later. My concern is that there is a module or system that is malfunctioning and while it hasn't been a safety issue yet, I worry that at some point I may be driving and the errors may cause loss of steering or braking or engine to turn off or accelerate or lights may turn off at night which would have a potential to injure or cause a fatal occurrence to myself, my family or an innocent person that happens to be near me. These issues have been going on for quite awhile and no one can seem to find a solution. It was looked at by a Ford dealer, independent mechanics and reported to Ford to establish a record with them. One mechanic feels it is all related to the BCM body control module. I am giving a date below because that is required. The issues began prior to that date and many times since. That is the date we started keeping records.

While driving highway speed (70 mph) the car suddenly lost power as I was going up hill and in rush hour traffic. Thankfully a police office was able to escort me otherwise I could have been killed.
