Cracked Flexplate on 2.0L EcoBoost motor. Apparently this is a common issue on those Ford motors and it is not a recall, what I think it should be once it is a manufacturing defect and a repair will cost about 4K.

My 2017 Ford Fusion 2.0L AWD with ~ 70k mileage car started to show an acceleration hesitation when starting from a stop on Thursday and Friday of the week. The following Monday morning, my car would start to vibrate when at a stop sign or traffic light when in drive. Over the following couple days, the vibration became excessive to the point that the car would vibrate excessively and stall if left in Drive when at a stop. When one is at a stop and puts the car into Park, the engine RPM's immediately surge and then settle down to a normal RPM. There were no warning lamps or messages on the dash. I took the car to my local Meineke on Friday of the same week and they determined that it was a Torque Converter issue and that is something that they could not do. I then took the car to my the nearest Ford Dealership in which they confirmed that the Torque Converter was indeed the issue. They said that they did get Warnings from their obd reader but there are still no warning lamps on the dash. The Ford Dealership filed a claim with Ford as a Torque Converter and/or Transmission are a known issue at this time. My car is the same model year, made at the same factory in the same assembly time as a known recall. My issue is similar to Recall no. 17V427000, but not exactly the same yet. Ford declined my car for a recall. If one Googles the same model and issue, there are a LOT of people with the same issue around the same mileage. I'm continuing to hesitantly drive as I need to get to/from work. I'm proceeding with getting the Torque Converter/Transmission replaced via the Ford Dealership at at a cost of ~ $5k as I have no other options at this time.

After driving on the highway approximately 30 miles I came to a stop sign. Stopped and went to accurate again, car shifted so hard it felt like someone rear ended me. Got to the next stop sign not even a quarter mile down the road. Stopped began to accelerate and it happened again. Continued my trek onto the freeway, car drive fine, shifted gears fine. After about an hour on the freeway I came into traffic, stopped, began to accelerate again and the same thing happened. This time my car began to violently shake. I pulled over to the side of the road. The wrench icon popped up on my dash. I shut the vehicle off. After sometime attempted to start the vehicle again to see if I could limp it to the next exit, vehicle continued shaking violently. Had to have vehicle towed off the road. Currently waiting to get it into a Ford deal ship for diagnostic. Car is still inoperable. Consumer had it diagnosed by a Ford dealership who confirmed it is an internal manufacturer failure. Vehicle was manufactured in April 2017 and the recall is for cars manufactured May 2017- June 2017. Consumer contacted the Ford company asking for help, but no help was offered.

The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Ford of murfreesboro (1550 nw broad St, murfreesboro, tn 37129) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the gear shifter module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty, and referred her to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

The contact checked and verified that the vehicle was in the proper gear. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate and stopped independently. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle however, the gear shifter failed to shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the shifter link bushing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Ford service (3230 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096) was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic test and repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 66,000.

Shifter cable bushing disintegrated. Vehicle will not shift out of park. Message on dash "shift sys faulty". many other Ford Fusion have recalls but local dealer denied repaired under warranty. $250 repair cost.

The wrench light came on so I turned around in someone driveway when, I was shifting into drive it became stuck, would not come out of fully go into neutral. Was stuck in the middle of road, tried the bypass it wouldnt work. Had to be dragged up the rollback. This is the second time after the bushings and shifter cable got fixed under the recall and same thing happened, but I was in the middle of the road blocking traffic.

The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the charcoal canister was replaced however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V427000 (power train) which the contact linked to the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

This morning while I was pulling out my driveway everything was fine. I began to pick up speed and my check engine light came up, wrench light, then it just downshift hard stopped. Car came to a halt and it wouldn't even shift out of drive. Once I got the car out of the road, I looked at the transmission control cable, the rubber bushing was gone. I can pick the entire cable up and do it whatever I want with it. I've looked around and I am seeing many of other complaints. The only scary thing is my daughter was with me this morning when it happened, but thankfully our road isn't busily traveled on.

One evening when pulling out of my driveway in reverse and then shifting into drive, the radial dial shifter automatically shifted to park. It would not shift out of park at all, and I sat stranded in the middle of the road not being able to move my car for over two hours. The road is such that people had to drive through neighbors' yards to get around me. I'm very fortunate that my neighbor is an engine mechanic and was able to walk over and diagnose the problem. He told me the shift linkage was not connected and that the bushing that holds it on appeared to be missing. If it were not for him I may still be sitting in the road. After doing some research I found that there has been a recall of this exact same part for Ford Fusion model years 2013-2016. However, mine is a 2017 that came out of the plant in April of 2016. Therefore, it stands to reason that the design of this shifter cable bushing did not drastically change between the making of my vehicle in April of 2016 and a 2016 model that was made just a month or so earlier which was eligible for a recall. My biggest concern is that I have a young child and my driveway is on an incline. The complaints that I've researched said that with this issue the car could be stuck in neutral when you think it is in park for example, and my child could have been in their car seat while the vehicle rolled away. This is not ok! Ford said my 2017 Fusion was not eligible for the recall and charged $6 for the bushing and $60 to install a part that's been a recall issue on other models. My concern is the safety of others and the fact that my vehicle is surely one of the earlier 2017 models manufactured with the same exact issue as a recalled model which could have been made just a month or two prior. I do hope that it's looked into for the 2017 Ford Fusion models to be added to the recall list for the shifter cable bushing recall.

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion titanium with the 2.0L ecoboost engine that has 72,890 miles. I experienced rough idle for about a week then my check engine light came on. I had the engine light checked and showed the code P0302 which is a misfire in cylinder 2. when I proceeded to leave the place of business where I had the light checked white smoke came out of my exhaust upon start up and was still coming out by the time I drove home. I proceeded to do my research over the next couple of weeks following and found out it is a known issue and Ford will only cover if under power train warranty, even though it happens outside the warranty time frame just as much as with in the warranty window. I proceeded to have my car towed to the dealership and a diagnostic done and they said that everything I stated above is exactly the issue along with the PCM self-test showing P0217 engine over temperature condition was detected, and the engine long block assembly does have to be replaced.nothing showed up on my dash to warn me of overheating or anything of the nature. Only the check engine light appeared.

As we was driving down the highway I felt like the car was riding a little rough and I had recently gotten an oil change so I knew instantly it wasn't the engine cause im familiar with engine issues so, I pulled over to a gas station a mid our travels to a job interview. I listened for any unusual sounds but there wasn't any. I then realized that the vehicle when shifted into gear it jerked a little hard and accelerated abnormally. So that's when I decided to add transmission fluid. Thinking that would make it better when returning back to driving it started off real good riding smoothly like ever before. Then it out of no neutralize leaving my foot reving the engine coasting along the highway, breaks locked on drivers making me swerve and tail whip, while along side of trucks with me and family at risk of our lives and others taken because of a potential recall. My vehicle needs to be investigated and my VIN a part of this recall. The consumer stated the dealer offered to pay a portion of the repairs.

Changed my battery for a new one. After a couple of days an orange wrench appears as a warning to check my manual. Checked the manual it says there's a problem with the power train. I looked up what that means but there wasn't a true definition of what was wrong. I had to wait to get it checked out and when I was about to my car wouldn't let me change it out of park. After having it towed and the mechanic tells me the part that's messed up is electrical and the part is on back order because there are a lot of people experiencing the same problem with my type of car. I haven't been able to drive my car because I'm waiting for the part to be available but the part malfunction wasn't anything that I did just like the others who are experiencing this. There hasn't been a recall.
