The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, he became aware that the check engine warning light was illuminated and there was an engine misfire. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic replaced the spark plug; however, the failure recurred. On another occasion, while driving, the vehicle started to overheat. The contact pulled over and added coolant in the reservoir and waited for the engine temperature to cool down before driving to his residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the spark plugs were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,561.

The contact took the vehicle to a parts store for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The contact was informed of a cylinder misfire on cylinder #2. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic who replaced three additional cylinders however, the repairs failed to fix the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed the failure as a coolant leakage into the cylinder but could not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.

The contact stated that temperature gauge remained high as she felt heat on her feet. The contact stated that the heater core malfunctioned and coolant was leaked into the vehicle. The contact stated she pulled over to the side of the road and at that time the check engine light illuminated. The contact stated that smoke entered the vehicle from the air vents. The contact had the vehicle towed to crossroads Ford of indian trail (88 dale jarrett blvd, monroe, nc 28110) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a heating core failure. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 42,246.
