The contact owns a 2020 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds there was a humming sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact stated that intermittently the vehicle hesitated to start. The tire pressure warning light illuminated; however, the tires were new, and the air pressure was correct. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. Approximately three days later, the vehicle began making a clicking and vibrating sound while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was shaking while driving at various speeds. While attempting to pull out of the garage the vehicle began making a clicking sound as if the engine was failing and the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle jumpstarted. The contact stated that the failure occurred once the temperature outside was colder. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the hybrid system failed, and the contact inquired about trading the vehicle. The dealer inspected the vehicle a second time and determined that there was no failure found. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

My vehicle was in service with my dealer for several months 3 separate occasions for powertrain issues which werent resolved and now the alignment in my steering wheel is really off. My spouse and I believe the PCM is messed up but have had no progress with our dealership and suspect them of committing consumer fraud and selling us a lemon. The vehicle in question is around 70,000 and started messing up at 60,000.

The alternator was producing too many volts, which would short circuit the battery and electrical components in the car. This would cause the car to lose power and not be able to accelerate. My car would randomly lose power on the highway, with no warning, resulting in my car suddenly slowing down. This was dangerous for the cars around me who are going 60+ and then my car quickly drops to 40 or less mph. In addition, to solve the issue I would have to pull off onto a shoulder to shut the car off and back on. This issue started around 3-4 yrs ago and has gotten worse as time passed. The problem was identified and resolved by Firestone when they ran a diagnostic. No check engine light was on in the car to alert me of any issues. I replaced both parts on the car.

The contact's husband owns a 2020 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that immediately after her husband had left the dealer after an oil change, the "Stop Safely Now" and "Check Engine" messages appeared on the instrument panel after an attempt to start the vehicle. Several attempts were made to restart the vehicle; after the vehicle was started, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was scanned; however, the dealer failed to duplicate the DTC code received on the scanner. The battery was reset, and the messages were cleared off the vehicle. The contact stated that several days later, the contact's husband received a "Battery Preserve Mode" message through the Ford App about the vehicle. The following day, the contact's husband experienced the failure that had occurred after the oil change. The contact stated that after a successful restart of the vehicle, the messages disappeared. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed about NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V440000 (Electrical System) which the agent linked to the vehicle failure; however, the contact was then informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

The center console display unit acts as though "ghost fingers" (internet term) are continuously exercising the display, since at least December 2023. If on climate, it will turn the climate controls on and off, and if on phone, it will attempt to delete phone contacts. The only screen that is safe to leave the display at, is navigation, so that it continually flickers and moves the map around the state, country and world. I cannot turn off the steering heater, or change climate direction to vent or floor without accessing the climate screen while driving. I have had to unpair my phone, and so 911-assist is no longer available. Periodically while driving, the screen will switch over to climate controls, and then I have to switch it back, pressing navigation multiple times until it responds, while driving. These actions make driving the vehicle UNSAFE. The dealer acknowledged an internal bulletin in January, that said a software update was needed to address this known issue, but none was available. They have been unwilling to provide any of that in writing. Please contact me for a 165Mb video of the the screen, which includes my attempts to access screen functions.

I am aware of the recall on the ford fusion plug in hybrid and for that reason I do not plug it in. We are supposed to use this as a regular hybrid until the fix comes out. That said, my car turns off randomly in traffic. All the warning lights turn on and the car fully shuts down and has to restart. This happens without warning, while in traffic. Last week it happened 3 times on one single drive home from picking up the kids from school. This is not supposed to happen if we aren-??t plugging it in, but it-??s happening and ford said they think it-??s related to the recall (they-??re holding on to it for the next five days and I-??m on my own for car rental fees). Totally unsafe to just stop working in traffic, even when not using EV mode. This is going to hurt someone.

The entire media display gets stuck off or will freeze up, when I place the vehicle in reverse the rear camera comes on but parking assist, the rear sensors and cross traffic sensors won't work. Once I place the car in drive the display will either stay all blue or shut completely off. I cannot adjust the climate control, use GPS, or use the media. I have to shut the car off and then after about 10 minutes there is a bunch of clicking noise under the dash and after it stops clicking I can restart the car, the display will sometimes begin to work and if it dossent then I have to shut off the car again and go through the motions again. It has started to be more and more frequently, at first it was maybe once a week and now it is happening at every start.

Five months after buying our 2020 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, Ford issued a recall stating that it was unsafe to plug it in. Now, going on 10 months later, Ford still has not corrected this safety issue. They continually say they're working on it, but I paid for a car that I didn't get. This car is not a plug-in hybrid if life-threatenting risk of fire or "loss of motive power" means I can't plug it in.

This is a PHEV Fusion. Prior to the recall I noticed a red light coming from the "box" that is part of the charging cord. I disconnected the charging cord from the wall outlet. Upon a closer inspection I found that there had been a fire inside the receptacle box that had burnt a hole in the box and destroyed the receptacle. I replaced the receptacle and box and continued charging the battery and suspected that there had been a fault in the receptacle. However, I received recall 23S33 in July 2023 and now think the fire I experienced might have been due to the Battery Energy Control Module as referenced in the recall. I no longer am charging the battery as suggested in the recall. It has been 8 months since I received the recall and the only thing I have heard from Ford is a check for $250 to help with the added fuel cost due to not being able to use the plug in capability.

This car is a plug-in hybrid. Ford told owners NOT to charge their cars as of June 16, 2023, and they still don't have a solution. It's January 30, 2024. That's 228 days or 62% of a year or 7.6 months. I don't consider that a timely recall.
