While driving on the highway schedule steering service came up on the dashboard. Just after pulling over the power steering failed and I could not control the steering as it was suddenly extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel. This is an extremely dangerous situation which apparently both Ford and the safety board are aware of. Why on earth would the 2011 models be recalled for this identical problem, but not the 2010 models with the same part. My family could have been killed- would that have triggered a recall ?

Driving along the road at <30mph when suddenly the power steering service now light came on and the power steering completely went out. Thank goodness it happened on a side road and not 5 minutes later when we were getting on the freeway. This could have caused a serious accident. Searched the issue online and found hundreds of complaints about the same issue. Then called Ford (case # cas86858), and they do not have a recall for the 2010 (but they do for the 2011 and above). Please issue the recall to include the 2010 as well. This is extremely dangerous and is a huge cost to the Ford owners. More complaints can be found here:

Takata recall - when I enter my VIN into your system, 0 recalls are shown. This is not correct. I have a letter from Ford for ***urgent airbag safety recall*** - safety recall notice 19S01/NHTSA recall 19V-001. I check your site often, and found it unfortunate and disturbing to still see 0 recalls even though my car does have a recall for the passenger airbag. I have also reported a very common power steering failure in this same car. You continue to have an open investigation since November 2017, which also suprised me to see an investigation left open for so long. This is the second investigation for the same issue on this car... if there is finally a recall for the power steering, like there is been for the same steering rack part on other model years, will it show up on your website, or will it also be hidden from your recall notices like my airbag recall notice" why isn't my airbag recall listed on your website recalls when I enter my VIN"

I was taking my husband to work. We pulled over at a gas station. I started my car and when I went to pull out of the store there was no power steering. Then the service power steering light came on as well as the advance traction service light. I started looking through the owner's manual and the internet for troubleshooting tips on what might be wrong. As I searched through the internet I noticed a ton of other people complaining about the same issue with the same car! it seemed I was fortunate since I was pulled over at a store.... because other people have wrecked and even been killed because of this issue! I'm not sure why this hasn't already been recalled, but it's very upsetting that so many people have made a complaint and nothing has been done! I hope that someone has the descency to do something about this soon before it affects another life.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. While driving at low speeds, the steering wheel seized and the service power steering and service advancetrac warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to sunnyside motor co. Inc. (944 main St, holden, MA 01520, (508) 829-4333) where the battery was replaced. The failure recurred after the repair while driving 65 mph. The vehicle was then taken back to the same dealer where the contact was informed that the low tire pressure placed the power steering in safe mode. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,656.

Steering went out on car while driving, luckily was with a few blocks of home and able to pull over safely, going less than 20 mph. Steering wheel would not turn either direction. Car had to be towed to service at dealership where they reported the steering rack needed to be replaced for about $2500. At local mechanic, they said could replace steering rack for $1200 but it would have to be taken to a dealer to have the computer flashed. Went with cheaper mechanic, towed to dealership to complete computer work, and computer would not recognize part. Went back to original mechanic, they again replaced rack thinking it was a defective part (at no charge), back to dealership, same problem - computer still not recognizing new part. Now for all the new diagnostics at dealership, cost has been about $400 so far. Still do not have part that works and car still at dealership not working and not recognizing part. Running out of money to keep feeding into this car.

My car had "power steering assist fault" come up on the dashboard after I started it in a parking lot and the lack of power steering made the car unable to drive safely. This has happened several times, and clears after turning off and restarting the car.. however, the message will not go away now even after restarting the car. Ford, was able to recreate the failure and thru driving the car & diagnostics. I was then called and notified that I needed a steering rack at the tune of $2500. During the phone call, I was told that Ford has been known to assist with the expense, especially with having such low mileage and asked if I wanted them to submit a request. Of course, I would, however, I was informed today, 2 Jan. 19, that Ford rejected my request for assistance and said would not assist with anything. I am now afraid to drive the car, for fear of this happening again without warning. I have very few miles on my car, approx 38,000 miles. There have been many complaints for this very issue. Other years have been recalled however, not yet for the 2010 models. This is very much a safety issue. How can Ford not recall 2010's when it is a documented issue? I don't feel like I can drive the car knowing that there is a safety issue or sell it with a clear conscious. Can not afford $2500. And, it's rumored that Ford will not make the Fusion after this year. How many more complaints must be received by NHTSA before a recall. Please do something! thank you,

Takata recall-dropped my 2010 Fusion off on Wednesday after 4 months waiting for the part to be in. Asked to have an oil change done while it was being worked on. I go to pick it up Saturday and drop off the rental only to find my vehicle with no power steering, power steering fault, service advance trac system. I recently herniated a disc in my back and do not possess the strength to turn the wheel, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive without power steering. My Fusion never left the service bay. I get a call Monday from sheehy Ford service, telling me that I need a new rack and pinion to the tune of $2400, due to the electronic steering being an enclosed unserviceable system. Sheehy refused to acknowledge that they caused this failure during the course of my oil change and recall replacement of the passenger side airbag. They quoted me $1049 for an after market rack and offered to pay for it if I could prove that it was something they did to cause the failure. After hours of speaking to the service manager and assistant manager they told me that they stopped paying for the rental when I did not drive my unsafe vehicle home. By Wednesday waiting for a return phone call about any other options and calling Ford because there was a recall for the power steering on 11S and 12S, as suggested by the service manager, I told them to go ahead an order the after market rack. Thursday they call to tell me its ready. As I run home to grab the keys for the rental, leaving it in front of my house with my phone, computer, and other items still inside, Ford had sent a tow truck to repossess the rental. County police being called, rental towed, cab to the dealer, pay the $1049, and end up getting charged over $300 by the rental company since Ford refused to pay while the power steering issue was being argued. Unsafe and absolutely appalling by sheehy and Ford.
