Since taking ownership of this vehicle I have regularly experienced low speed braking anomalies. Sometimes it seems as if the vehicle may not stop and when I apply slightly more pressure the brakes grab and come to an unnerving quick stop. Sometimes there is a loud clunk sound that accompanies it. It is unpredictable as to which low speed braking attempts will cause it to occur and I am always wary in stop/go traffic. I have been driving for almost 50 years and have never had this problem with a vehicles brakes unless there was something wrong!

(2.5L Hybrid) The brakes are not consistent at low speeds - (i.e. when creeping up in traffic). The physical brakes often fail to react to any driver input for several seconds or until brake pressure is increased significantly. There was recently an event when the adaptive cruise control was activated in stop-and-go traffic where traffic ahead moved up slightly, but the vehicle failed to slow to a stop until the driver intervened. A red warning message popped up, but was not able to be read before disappearing, and adaptive cruise control was unavailable until the next ignition cycle. There is a high risk of a low speed accident with the way the brakes are currently calibrated.

At slower speeds (typically in congested traffic situations) the brakes will sometimes 'lock up' when vehicle is traveling below 5 MPH. The sudden and unexpected brake application will sometimes cause the vehicle to suddenly stop, jarring the passengers and could potentially cause a following vehicle to collide with the rear of my vehicle. This occurs sporadically, and despite my best efforts to adapt my driving habits, I am still unable to predict when the brakes will suddenly apply themselves.

When driving at slow speeds the brakes seem to have a -??dead space-??. The brakes slowly engage, don-??t engage at all (hence dead space) then abruptly stop the vehicle. There is also a loud clunk associated with it. On one occasion the brakes would not engage at all causing me to nearly hit the vehicle in front of me. I had to pump the brake in order to stop abruptly, creating a dangerous situation. I took it to one ford dealer who claimed they couldn-??t replicate the issue. The following week I took it to another in which they were able to replicate it however advised the can-??t seem to find anything wrong with the system to be able to fix it.

Dynamic brakes are activated at very low speed, under 5mph when in drive-thru lanes or stop and go. This has happened many times Loud clunk, truck jerks forward and delays stopping. Very dangerous when picking kids up at school. The dynamic brakes engage and electronic brakes fail. Pedal goes down to floor. Delay in braking, making this unsafe. Reported and taken to local Ford dealer, Autonation Tustin, Ca. Tech unable to duplicate but service writer did duplicate

Sometimes when coming to a full stop and when moving slow and braking in parking lots the brakes seem to not fully engage and then at the last second they grab hard to stop the truck. I can see this as being potentially hazardous, especially in a parking lot or when conditions are slippery.

Hybrid vehicle. Very jerky and rough low speed braking. The transition from regenerative braking to mechanical/hydraulic is extremely jerky and rough. Sometimes the hand off between regenerative and mechanical leaves me with no brakes at all and I am forced to slam the brakes. In a parking lot I look like a rank amateur driver. I've been driving for 52 years and have never experienced anything like this. It always happens no matter what I do. Over 5000 miles on the odometer.

Sudden lose of braking due to a specific set of circumstances. I've had this about 7 times now inside of 1,000 miles of driving (new car). Seems to happen when: Traction battery is near full. I've only been able to read the traction battery capacity for a day now, seems 70% is near full as far as regenerative braking is concerned. I started my car today as 55degrees OAT with a 63% full battery. My initial drive is downhill for the first 1.5 miles with the first.5 being very downhill. This event normally happens at the bottom of that.5 miles. I went from 63% to right at 70% inside of that. This car has a "ev coach" bar that shows (if you turn it on, which I only did very recent). Normally this bar stays within the lines. When this happens it goes beyond the lines. I get NO CEl/warning lights. I just lose braking suddenly (regenerative) and have to brake it myself (a very sudden loose). I do have videos of this happening now.

Occasionally, when driving at very low speed (<5mph) the vehicle does not easily brake when I apply the brakes. The vehicle will continue to pull forward and it feels as if I am not applying the brakes at all. When this happens, I will push on the brake pedal with much more force and the vehicle will brake and stop. There is sometimes a clunk, or thudding sounds that accompanies the transition from pulling forward to braking.

I just wanted to share that my Maverick intermittently makes a hard clunking stop during low speed stop and go conditions. It also takes more brake pressure to stop as the truck feels like it-??s trying to lunge forward. This occasional happens when parking the truck as well.

Brakes seem to be reluctant to react to pressure on brake pedal at low speeds, like slowly rolling forward, and eventually a higher pressure is needed and an abrupt stop occurs. Also on a slippery road some abrupt stopping occured in a similar manner.

I, and many other 2022 Hybrid Ford Maverick owners have noted that the braking system in this vehicle is very inconsistent when at very low speeds. When approaching a full stop, the relatively linear (relatively smooth) feedback of increasing brake pedal input suddenly transitions to a very hard jerky stop near the end of the braking. This does not always occur, but most often it does, and one has to either guess or interpret when that will happen and release pressure brake pedal at just the right moment and then repress is very very gently to come to a smooth stop. This affect also makes stop and go driving extremely annoying. On one hand it makes you look like an idiot as your car jerks to a stop every few feet, but on the other hand it could be dangerous for some drivers and have less finesse in their foot and can't compensate and thus always come to abrupt stops in front of other vehicles in traffic. None of the other vehicles I have ever driven in my life were like this. It's a really bad brake system implementation. I believe it is software related since it does not always occur. Some of us theorize it has to do with the system transitioning from regenerative braking to the disc brakes. Ford company has not acknowledged this as a problem so far so there's nothing dealers can do, there's no "fix" since it isn't quite broken, but it's just bad and *potentially* dangerous.

Hybrid braking system has poor and potentially dangerous modulation when at slow speeds 0-3 mph with low or medium brake effort. The transition from regenerative braking to hydraulic braking is such that in these situations the vehicle fails to slow to a stop predictably and then suddenly jerks or grabs unexpectedly. This happens often in common situations like pulling into a parking space, to a stop sign or at a drive through. Mild to medium pedal effort results in a sensation of the vehicle failing to react to you. When pressure is gradually applied the brake system slams on creating a sudden and jolting stop. This is a problem I have had since the vehicle was new, and now has 10,000 miles. I filed a complaint with Ford and they took my information months ago but never followed up. I feel this problem is potentially dangerous as the system is not consistent from one stop to the next and could create an accident if the driver cannot negotiate its behavior and fails to stop in a controlled manner before hitting something or rolling out into traffic. A slippery surface like ice could cause a loss of control if the brakes grab suddenly.

The Ford Maverick Hybrid system attempts to use electrical regenerative braking at speeds that are too low to generate a braking effect. When creeping forward in stop and go traffic below 10 mph, depressing the brake pedal has zero effect on slowing the truck down. Depressing the brake pedal further does engage the hyrdaulic brakes to finally stop the vehicle. This has been a problem since I took delivery of the vehicle and I've had many close calls in traffic thanks to this defect. No warning lights are associated with this problem.

the brake behavior is inconsistent. Sometimes the vehicle brakes hard just by barely pressing the brake. Other times are the opposite, takes more pressing power to stop the vehicle. Also, sometimes the brake makes a very sudden stop that even feels like I hit something with the vehicle.

Loss of brake response at slow speeds. Brakes sometime lock up at slow speeds, causing sudden and complete stop, accompanied by a loud banging noise from the engine bay.

Rolling up to a stop applying gradually increasing pressure to the brake pedal, instead of slowly coming to a halt, vehicle does not react to your braking input until you apply double the pressure at which point a loud clunk from the front wheels occur (which you can feel through the steering wheel) and your wheels lock up.

Mavericks with Integrated Trailer Brake Controllers are not sending any voltage to the trailer brakes when the brake pedal is pressed. Customers are at risk of not having the anticipated additional braking ability of their trailers and will be putting the entire braking load on the truck alone. A Ford dealership had my vehicle for 2 weeks with no repairs done or guidance on when it would be repaired.
