I never had this sort of problem with brakes in ANY cars BUT the Maverick Hybird. In low speed (around 5mph) the brake is so unmanageable that I worry every time i park. It's unable to move forward 2-3 inch at a time, it goes to 6-12inch every stops and god knows what number it will go on the next try. This is VERY Dangerous to property and to pedestrian because the driver can't control how far the car will go before stops, even it's in low speed.

Our 22 Maverick is brand new and we are experiencing a breaking issue. At slow speeds, we are dealing with very inconsistent results when we depress the brake pedal which range from feeling as though the vehicle won't stop to abruptly stopping. Many other Maverick owners are posting the same situation on social media and we love our truck except for this issue. Ford has notified it's dealers that they are working on a software fix for this problem but many of us feel that there needs to be a recall since any issue dealing with brakes is a safety concern.

Driving northbound on Bertelsen, Eugene, OR 97402. There is a transition from asphalt to concrete with a slight bump 60ft from the stop at the light on Roosevelt. I was traveling 35 and was slowed to 25 mph at that point while actively braking. I went over the transition when the car made a big bang noise like the hybrid system disengaged hard, the tires chirped like the locked up for an instant and then the brake pedal went hard and I rolled into the intersection unable to stop until about half way into the intersection. I called the dealership and they can't look at it for a month and a half and didn't seem to concerned about it.

The low braking system on the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is irregular and unpredictable. In stop-and-go traffic (sub 10mph), the braking system can either give you too much or too little brakes, resulting in the vehicle's brakes automatically grabbing and producing a jarring stop. This can be noticed when pulling in to a parking spot, slowly moving to a stop at a red light or slowly driving through a parking lot. The safety risk is a wreck waiting to happen that could injure the passengers as well as nearby cars and/or pedestrians. In winter driving (which is due soon where I live), the lack of a reliable braking system could spell even more trouble. This issue seems to finally be acknowledged by Ford via SSM 51142 but not externally to the general public. Ford does not recognize this on their site and it took a lot of work to get the dealer to finally look into this and provide the SSM # above. Still the dealer has no confirmed date as to when the software update can be made to fix this issue. The vehicle has been inspected by my local Ford dealer but they of course say nothing is wrong and that I have to wait on Ford to make a decision on when the update is available. No warning signals or messages are displayed when this issue occurs. This issue has been present since I took receipt of the vehicle back on 5/13/22.

Maverick Hybrid brakes are inconsistent. Sometimes you can brake smoothly, sometimes you cannot and the brakes will grab suddenly and lurch. Using Adaptive Cruise is miserable because the truck lurches back and forth and feels like it can't transition between friction and regenerative braking. There are no warnings on dash, truck has 1,000 miles. It is dangerous because getting more braking force than you anticipated can lead to being rear ended and not getting the brake force you anticipate can cause you to rear-end someone else.

I recently purchased my 2022 Ford, Maverick and when slowing to a stop the brakes seem to grab and then suddenly stops as more pressure is applied to the brakes. This has also happened on multiple occasions when I pull into a parking space at speeds of about 5MPH or less when the brakes suddenly grab and the vehicle kinda jerks and can stop suddenly. I would say this has happened about 30-40 times so far. Not sure if it's a brake problem or something else. I will be bringing my vehicle to the dealership next week where I bought it, Tamiami Ford in Naples Florida, but I don't expect to get any co-operation from them as I have had issues with them from the very beginning but that is a story for another time.

Occasionally the brakes don't properly stop smooth at low speeds then suddenly lock up causing a hard stop and somewhat neck pain. Brought to dealer twice but they couldn't replicate the issue. Ford Motor Corporation was contacted by me. They are aware of the issue and working on a future software fix. They refer me to the local dealer who can't do anything until Ford comes out with a fix.

Brakes suddenly grab when coming to a stop at slow speed. Although control of the vehicle is maintained on dry pavement I am concerned that it would cause loss of control in icy road conditions. Also, when this occurs while creeping ahead in heavy traffic I'm concerned that the abrupt stop could cause a rear-end collision from the vehicle following me. I believe that the problem is inherent in the design of the vehicle and that there is nothing that needs to be fixed at the dealership service department. The effect seems to occur when braking force is transferred from the hybrid's battery regeneration mode to actually applying the brakes. The date cited below is the most recent occurrence. The problem has happened sporadically since the vehicle was new, March 2022.

Occasionally when braking at low speed, primarily when coming up to a turn, stop sign or traffic light the brakes lockup causing the vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. Even when not changing the amount of pressure being applied the brakes act like I have applied full pressure. Most of the time it hasn-??t been a safety issue but there is potential in wet/icy conditions for the vehicle to slide. Also the issue could cause someone to rear end me as they are not expecting me to suddenly stop.

At low speeds with partial brake pedal force applied the car doesn't stop in a controlled manner. It drifts somewhat as the driver increases the pressure on the pedal then it stops abruptly. It feels like the car isn't going to stop at all until at the last instant it almost "panic" stops. Very unnerving and potentially dangerous as the vehicle tends to drift several feet before stopping.

At low speeds, the brakes do not apply evenly or smoothly. When light pressure is applied to the brake pedal, they go from being ineffective to locking in a way that causes the vehicle to jerk as though it has been hit by another vehicle. This is very problematic in slow moving traffic conditions. Safety of myself and others are put at risk because the driver of the vehicle cannot reasonably predict the vehicle braking response. In brief discussion, various dealership representatives said that the behavior is typical for hybrid vehicles. The brake system as not been inspected to my knowledge. There have been no related warning lamps or indicators related to the brake issues.

when coming to a stop at slower speed the brakes wont grab under medium braking. you have to fully press brake pedal to get vehicle to stop. this did not cause a wreck but will in the future.

I was driving East on Rte 70 near Mt. Airy, MD at approximately 2 am the morning of Sunday, Oc. 11. at approximately 65 mph. In and instant all power to the vehicle went dead. The engine stopped and all electrical components went dead. Most importantly, my lights went out, the power steering was inoperable, and the brakes went out. It was absolutely terrifying. Because of the lack of brakes, I narrowly avoided colliding with an 18-wheeler. I was able to pull the car off the road on the right side and allow the vehicle to drift to a stop (again, no brakes) over the course of 1/4 - 1/2 mile. I called a tow truck. They towed the vehicle to Apple Ford in Columbia, MD. I am told by the Dealer that this most likely an issue with the battery wiring harness, and that Ford is aware of the issue. It's unfathomable to me that Ford would not issue a recall for this extraordinarily dangerous issue. I have contacted Ford directly. They have been nothing short of abusive. Their IVR phone system seems intentionally designed to confuse and frustrate callers. I have attempted to escalate the issue to a supervisor, given the extremely dangerous nature of the issue. The representatives and customer advocates in the Ford Customer Relations depaterment have not been helpful at all.

The brakes are very inconsistent. Low speed applying brakes and truck won't stop, slowly press harder and harder then it goes full 100% brake power and you get lynched by the seat belt, low speed braking in parking lots or traffic hit the brakes softly to slow down gradually and no feed back at all same speed press hard and harder and harder and still nothing.....keep pressing a little hard then BOOM FULL 100% BRAKING POWER AND EVERYONE BOBS FORWARD!

Like many others have reported, when I apply the brakes in low speed situations, there are times when the brakes respond as if they are not going to stop. Then, there are other times when the brakes seem to grab and stop the truck abruptly with a clunking sound. The brakes at times respond normally and without problem and then other times unpredictably grabbing or appearing to have no stopping at all requiring driver to reapply the brakes to safely prevent an accident. May be a software problem in the regenerative braking to mechanical braking system but definitely needs to be addressed.

Under 5 miles an hour, brakes are sometimes unresponsive or inconsistent for the first couple of degrees. When creeping up on another vehicle, parking spot, or building it gets nerve-racking when the breaks don't catch causing me to react and gradually press the breaks harder until it catches all at once and I'm jerked forward. When the breaks catch, there's also a loud thunk. I suspect it's something to do with the regenerative breaking system.

Since taking ownership of this vehicle I have regularly experienced low speed braking anomalies. Sometimes it seems as if the vehicle may not stop and when I apply slightly more pressure the brakes grab and come to an unnerving quick stop. Sometimes there is a loud clunk sound that accompanies it. It is unpredictable as to which low speed braking attempts will cause it to occur and I am always wary in stop/go traffic. I have been driving for almost 50 years and have never had this problem with a vehicles brakes unless there was something wrong!

(2.5L Hybrid) The brakes are not consistent at low speeds - (i.e. when creeping up in traffic). The physical brakes often fail to react to any driver input for several seconds or until brake pressure is increased significantly. There was recently an event when the adaptive cruise control was activated in stop-and-go traffic where traffic ahead moved up slightly, but the vehicle failed to slow to a stop until the driver intervened. A red warning message popped up, but was not able to be read before disappearing, and adaptive cruise control was unavailable until the next ignition cycle. There is a high risk of a low speed accident with the way the brakes are currently calibrated.

At slower speeds (typically in congested traffic situations) the brakes will sometimes 'lock up' when vehicle is traveling below 5 MPH. The sudden and unexpected brake application will sometimes cause the vehicle to suddenly stop, jarring the passengers and could potentially cause a following vehicle to collide with the rear of my vehicle. This occurs sporadically, and despite my best efforts to adapt my driving habits, I am still unable to predict when the brakes will suddenly apply themselves.
