Mustang GT 5.0L V8

  • Manual transmission
  • 6,200 miles

Car was purchased brand new 6 months ago to replace a 2015 that had been totaled out. Immediately I could tell the build quality was not as nice. This car rattled and creaked off the lot. The windows make a terrible whistling sound the dealer cannot fix because they cannot find air leak.

This past weekend, after oil change (with correct filter, oil and right amount of 10 qt) the engine began knocking. Upon further inspection, it appears to be a rod knocking into a cylinder. This was not a cheap car, it is the 5.0 premium, but you'd never know it from driving it. Problems since day one. Now I have to be embarrassed driving around my brand new car with a loudly knocking engine while Ford figures out what they want to do.

Update from Oct 2, 2019: actually it turned out that cylinder three was badly scored. Ford tried to claim that the oil must have been soooooo hot when changed that it completely emptied with no residual before replaced and that's what caused it lol. they replaced it with a new long block. Now due for another oil change and nervous to have it done. frustrated because they told me they want the engine completely cooled before changing it next time... no one has time for that.
