The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being driven or parked, the tailgate was inadvertently unlatched. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 141,000.
