03/08/2025 While at Interstate speed engine turned off as did the entire vehicle electrical system in the truck. Steering control was maintained (though not power assisted) and brake control was in the same position. Truck was brought to a safe position in the breakdown lane and a re start was attempted to find that engine would not rotate and a number of dash indications were displayed including check engine. No indication of low oil pressure light nor any other warning was displayed prior engine shutdown event were noted. Truck was taken to an independent repair center for evaluation. Initial inspection noted that engine would neither turn via electric starter nor by manual rotation of crank shaft with a socket and breaker bar. Truck may be inspected near owners residence. Safety risk was low due to the low traffic condition of the interstate travelled at the time.

The transmission on this vehicle has given me problems. I have had the vehicle in a certified garage many times with complaints of a hard shifting transmission. First Chevrolet told me -??it-??s normal-?? but there is nothing normal about jerking so hard it throws a drink from a cup holder. Then I was told I needed a transmission wash. That was about $500 for it to -??fix-?? the problem. Chevrolet told me the transmission was may or may not work and it may only be temporary. In my case it has reduced the hard shifting transmission but it-??s still obvious. Now when I drive I remove my foot from the accelerator when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. I also make sure to keep a spill proof lid on my coffee because I never know when the transmission may throw it out of the cup holder.

Coolant control valve failure (P1098) after 50k service. When this engine code appears the vehicle goes into reduced power mode. While it does this at inopportune time and creates potential for colission with other vehicles such as when merging with traffic. The coolant control valve is a known issue and GM has just recently recalssified it from their powertrain warranty to their much shorter bumper to bumper or emissions warranty without notifity owners of this change. This move directly puts owners and drivers at risk while on the road. GM should be accountable to resolve this problem as failures are across multiples years and are happening to vehicles at all milages with some less than 5k miles. This is an obvious failure on their part and they should be required to rectify the situation.

On or around January 27 2025 my 2022 sierra loss power and shut down at night and dropped to 0 rpm. I was close to the house and got pulled home by relative. When I did get it cranked lifters were tapping which was common in the 6.2 but I drained my oil and filter and saw the glitter look. Truck was still tapping after warmed up. Last night I about got hit at an intersection when same thing happened. I felt a jar, and truck went to zero rpm and loss power. Truck said, put in neutral and try again. When I pushed starter had a click. Then I pushed start again and it started smoking. It burnt my starter up, because engine is seized. I saw where there is an investigation on this and I really hope it goes through because that was a scary moment and it is safety concern. Twice the same thing. But now can-??t turn crankshaft, nothing to drive, making payments on a 80,000 truck that is my personal and work vehicle. 92000 miles on my truck and have my oil changed regularly. I-??m stuck between rock and hard place, but will be getting it towed to a dealer somewhere. To here I need a 6.2l engine in my sierra slt. 2 year old truck it is stressful. I know im going to here 10,000 $$$ I don-??t have.

Used my truck to back out of the driveway and wouldn't go into reverse at all. Towed to dealership and said problem was transmission valve body went bad. Dealership said TVB fail all the time in these trucks. They told me that this part is on back order and could be 2 or 3 months to get part in. GM has and known transmission issues. This truck is little over 2 years old and only has 40k on it. I'm hearing that TVB are failing while driving and creating dangerous situations and GM isn't doing anything about. Truck is under PT warranty. I asked what can't GM just put a new transmission in? They say it's not cost effective. So cost is over safety i said!

My 2022 Sierra Denali shows message "Shift To Park" when turning off, even though it has been shifted to park, the dashboard stays lit as well as the radio on. Horn even goes off alerting as if the engine is on and me walking away with the key in my pocket even though engine is off. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. Locking it with remote works most of the time but when this happens, I can't use remoteless key access, door just won't lock.

When the truck reaches approximately 50mph it is unable to shift into the next gears and then it's unable to downshift. The transmission will not go into neutral. The truck must be stopped and turned off, sometimes it will need to be restarted 2x before it's able to shift into first gear. The outdoors temperature was approximately 24F, transmission temp was 178F. The truck locked into 7th gear 6x in a row while the transmission was set to normal driving mode. There were no signs of transmission failure until the vehicle reached approximately 50mph, afterwards the check engine light illuminated, a warning stating "reduced acceleration drive with care" and "service transmission now unable to shift soon". The trucks RPMs were approximately 2500rpm while driving 45mph and would not go down because the transmission would not shift up or down.

The transmission failed without warning. The truck jerked several times and wouldn't go forward, eventually stopping, putting the driver at risk of being hit or losing control. There were no warning lights or issues prior to this. It was towed to the dealer who knew immediately that the transmission valve body had failed. He said this is a known problem and in fact there was a service bulletin issued last year by GM. As of now he told us there are 2000 vehicles waiting for this part. The part has been redesigned because GM knew it was faulty. Our truck is still at the dealer waiting for the part after a month. Others have been waiting for months. GM is not allocating the part for current customers but instead putting the majority in new vehicles even though they know there are thousands of vehicles less than 3 years old on the road and putting people in danger! The rest of us are left without a vehicle. You are welcome to inspect our truck at the dealership where it currently sits.

In the past 6 years I have owned 4 GMC 6.2L trucks the first was a 2019 no issues great truck. The second unfortunately had a Short life with another vehicle. In 2023 The third a 2021 Denali 6.2L truck at 34k began using oil and blowing blue smoke out the tailpipes. The dealer started an oil consumption test (like you couldn-??t see it happening) so finally at 45k they tore down the engine and found worn out valve guides and scored cylinders. They ordered an engine the engine was installed and it failed in 25 miles come to find out it was not oiling on one bank, A second motor was ordered and installed it failed at start up. At this time it had been months that the truck was down. The dealer took a stand and moved me into a 2022 GMC AT4 with 6.2L with the hopes of removing the issue this truck was the internet sales managers truck that he had recently bought and had 15k on. We made the deal, well at 35k this truck begins consuming oil. The dealer once again starts the oil consumption test process. A couple of months ago. The truck now has 42k or so on it and on my last trip from Atlanta to Fort Walton after the dealer just topped it off 2 1/2 weeks prior to the first 2500 interval of the oil consumption test, the truck burned 1 1/2quarts in less than 2k miles and the oil warning light comes on as we arrive in Fort Walton. I would like a resolution to this, I have invested a lot of money into what should be one of the most reliable trucks on the road and all I hear is GM says it-??s not met their threshold of a problem and you should expect to have to add oil to a truck with less than 45k on it and it-??s not a problem. It-??s already been proven with the 2021 that GM has a problem, I as well as the other 100,000 or so individuals with this same engine and GM knows it-??s a problem with the quality of the engine build. GM has a quality issue and knows it but they are not addressing it, just making the consumer jump through hoops and not finding a fix in 5 yr's is bad

The engine failed while driving on the expressway. It is clearly the fault of the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system but GMC will not honor the warranty because I went over 7,500 miles between oil changes. This is a problem because the car stopped operating while driving down the interstate. Manufacturer inspection took place. They looked at the oil filter and saw the metal in the oil filter. No warning lamps, messages or symptoms of any sort prior to the engine failure.
