When trying to shut my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali off, the "Shift to Park" code illuminates on the dash and at times it will go out on its own. Other times I have to restart the truck and shift through all the gears. Other times I have to drive it and then retry. There is no definite fix and when I called the dealership, they wanted well over $1000.00 to fix! The truck currently has only 26,000 mikes but the bumper to bumper warranty expired a few months ago. Of course the issue started after it expired!
Now I either pay for the repair myself, get an extended warranty to get it fixed or wait until a class action lawsuit is issued where then, GMC foots the bill... I had never heard of this issue before but GMC has as it effects numerous other mid sized models and all you have to do is google search "Shift to Park" and there are. numerous complaints! Had I known about this issue, I would never have bought this truck... new... I ordered it new! and now I'm screwed?!!!
Update from Apr 3, 2025 I forgot to mention. when the truck illuminates the Shift to Park message, all electrical components in the truck stay on and will/would drain the battery if not taken care of. One option would be to disconnect the battery ground in the case I can't get it to turn off... Is this why I bought a brand new truck??? I should have kept my Dodge Ram... I never had any issues with it other than the high mileage... which is why I decided to by a "nice new" truck!
