Over the last week I have been experiencing the car suddenly turning off....no RPM's, no speed...while I am still in drive (automatic transmission). In viewing various websites, this is now becoming a common occurrence...and it extremely dangerous. Although headlights still work, power steering is no longer available...so I must hurriedly shift into N to glide to the side of the road. The car does not restart right away. This has occurred at intersections, on the highway (at 70 mph) and while going 20 mph. There was a recall issued on the ignition for this type of problem in/around 2002-2003. I received this late...but did go to the dealer and have it replaced in 2009 (Honda recall #02V120000). After experiencing this problem recently, I have gone online to see countless numbers of other Honda Accord owners who have been experiencing exactly the same problems....even after having the recall filled. Evidently, the replacement part has been failing...or it was not the fix to begin with. This has was a very popular model..and there are sure to be hundreds of thousands of these on the road...about to run into something when the power fails. I am going to the dealership to get this resolved...but it is incumbent upon your organization to have this issue reviewed..and a solution available...asap. Please look into this....I have never experienced such a frightening problem while driving. Thank you.

I bought this car new in 1999 while working as a salesman for a Honda dealership.its always been well maintained as it is the only transportation I have.I no longer work at the dealership but my little boy needs a way to get to various activities as well as school.we depend on this machine and Honda reputation to get things done.around 76000 miles the transmission started to shift hard and not want to go into gear. After checking around various shops and the internet I was surprised to find out that so many other owners of 1999-2002 Accord had the same problems or worst.some with only 50000 miles had to be replaced.I'm pretty sure this is an american Honda deal as the Japanese people would back up their products.once again we get screwed by our fellow greedy americans.I will not be buying another Honda product be it a lawnmower, car, motorcycle, generator or paper bag for that matter.I will also warn everyone I know by internet and carrier pidgeon about american Honda and their lack of ethics.what goes around comes around!

Purchased 99 Honda Accord V6 in 2007. One owner car. Im second owner. All maintenance done on schedule. On 5/29/11 transmission failed. I called Honda they said "we know about the situation and we're investigating the issue. We're not going to do anything about your transmission. I have taken good care of my Accord V6. The transmission should not have failed. I was stranded on the interstate with my four small children. Then had to pay $350 for the tow home. I am a loyal Honda owner. This is my fourth Honda. I have never had major mechanical issues with any of my Honda. Honda admitted there is a known problem.

Dear sir / madam - Honda in usa has intentionally dropped a large number of vehicles from its list of recalls/ fix needed to save the costs and maximize their profits. This case is one of them. My Honda - [xxx] is facing all issues similar to ones recalled from 1999-02 models. First the ignition switch issues last year and now the transmission issues. I called Honda and they said its not part of re-call while everyone knows these were part of re-calls so why was this vehicle dropped from the recall database " how many more vehicles were dropped from the list and why ? I think the issue is not related to age but something else and needs investigation. 1999 Honda Accord ex. Transmission. Car jerks forward, losses power, accelerates. Thousands of complaints on the internet, why no recall? there is a defect in the manufacturing yet nothing is done!! why can a car manufacturer get away with installing defect parts which are a safety hazard and the NHTSA does nothing about it!!

Check engine light came on. Brought to the dealer and they said the code indicated a torque converter circuit malfunction. Dealer supposedly checked and road tested and said they couldn't find anything wrong. They reset the warning light and said the transmission maybe going bad. I was charged their typical outrageous labor cost. I should have brought it to an auto parts store who could have told me the same thing for free. But I thought they would know more about what is wrong with their cars than an auto parts code reader, I was totally wrong. The warning light came back on during my drive back home from the dealer. All the required maintenance has been performed by the dealer since the time I bought it new. The car had around 98,000 miles when the warning light first appeared. I brought it to a transmission repair shop next and they replaced the linear solenoid and checked the others which were all fine, but the warning light came back on. The trans. Shop said this is a predominant problem with 99 and 2000 Accord, but the mfr only recalled the 2000 models. I know this is true because I also own a 2000 Accord which was recalled by the factory for transmission problems. The mechanic said that Honda should have recalled this model year also since the 99 and 2000 models were essentially identical. Now the only recourse is to overhaul or replace the transmission which will cost lots more money. The manufacturer should recall the 99 Accord as well or at least shoulder half of all the expenses because of this defect. I have own several vehicles other than Honda and I have never encountered any transmission problem and all have gone over 150,000 miles. Good bye Honda! all my family and friends will surely know about this.

I have repaired my transmission twice now and its in my garage now it needs a transmission again I have changed all sensors egr O2 sensor this last time was different I was driving at a normal speed then suddenly I got a hard jerk and I knew my transmission was going bad again in 2005 when my transmission went I called Honda to see if my 99 Accord V6 coupe was one that was on the recall after taking my VIN number they said it wasn't but if im having the same problem like everyone is why im not getting the replacement.

The "check engine warning light came on" and the trouble code is P0740, transmission torque converter circuit malfunction. The car surges forward from a stopped position even at the slightest depression of the gas pedal which makes it prone to an accident by hitting the vehicle in front. I brought it to the dealer and they reset the warning light, test drove it and told me that they can't find anything wrong but told me that the transmission may be getting bad. On the way home, the warning light came on again. I brought it to a trans repair shop and they checked the trouble code to be the same P0740 code. They checked the resistance of all the solenoids and replaced the linear solenoid which was out of spec. The warning light came on again on the drive home. I had it scanned again and the code was P0740 again. The trans shop said that they may eventually need to completely rebuild the transmission and may cost around $3500-4000. I have already spent $400 so far. I now drive the car sparingly until I can have the funds to get a rebuilt trans. I wish the NHTSA would require Honda to recall this model year like they did for the 2000 model since there seemed to be an unusually alarming high rate of complaints on 1999 Accord transmissions.

We bought our used Accord about a year ago for our daughter to go to college and not to long after we realize that the transmission was starting to shift very rough especially from the lower gears to the high ones..we changed the transmission fluid and do all the regular maintenance for the vehicle.. yet we have noticed that the problem has gotten worse.. now the transmission not only jerks really bad shifting up but it's worse going downwards.. sometimes now the reverse gear will not engage and we have to turn off the engine and turn it back on before it goes to reverse.. we took it to the dealer and they said that we have to replace the transmission and most probably the engine mounts.. $2500 to $3500 we call american Honda and see if they will help and of course our factory warranty has run out so we are on our own.. according to some auto shops that we have talked to this the problem that these Accord have... faulty transmission.. what is Honda doing" nothing.. what are we going to do" shouldn't we file a class action law suit against Honda for not fixing this problem.

Got a car tune-up done by a Honda dealership. The gears shifted a lttle different but I attributed it to the tune-up. It progressively got worst so I took it back to the dealer to have it checked. The transmission of my 99 Honda Accord ex V6 is behaving erratically and is creating a hazardous situation on the roads as the car suddenly jerks and speeds up or slows down as the transmission shifts erratically without any control. At times the car just locks up into 2nd or 3rd gear on the freeway. I believe this is a serious safety issue for others and for my family. After doing some research, I notice that a lot of other car owners have had or having similar experiences with this model and make of car. Honda has issued a recall on the transmissions of other Accord for model year 2000 - 2003, however I understand that even for the 1999 year Accord, it has the same transmission problems as have come up on the 2000-2003 model years because it is the same transmission make.

I bought my 99 Honda Accord on June 28, 2003 for 16,000$ odometer readout 56,000 miles. I have since noticed noises and jerky like movements upon acceleration also when letting off the gas peddle when the car is trying to idol down. As if to be stuck or revving in the gear in which its leaving and ends with a jerk once it gets to the gear its changing to with a rev or jump especially if on a hill. Now at just over 130,000 miles and in the year 2008 the problem is worse and worse. The problem has been temp. Made better with flushing of the transmission fluid, and for whatever reason there is no changeable transmission fluid filter. I have been told by Honda that I need a new transmission. What! 130,000 miles and it already needs replacing, this is suppose to be a Honda, , Honda once meant reliability, biggest mileage ect. I have not as of today which is July 15, 2008, replaced my transmission, and im hoping that with a little prayer god will have mercy on me and my dumb car, because I cant afford a new transmission, and yes I am willing to bet that they have this part in stock even!! Honda good to have those odd parts that break, lets you know that your not the only one with problems on those parts. They like to screw you once you drive up and tell you lots of things you do not need to do to your car just to take every dime you have to your name. I once saw a Honda outside the showroom where I bought my car, , it was on showcase for its mileage of over 600,000 miles! im thinking they didn't have tranny problems before they reached 200,000 miles!

The transmission was slipping from 1st to 2nf gear, it was mildly noticeable. I had it checked out by transmission auto shops and they said I would be fine and there was not any indication of problems from the diagnostic tests. I continued to drive it for a year. Then one day it shifted so hard I barely made it out of the middle of the city going through multiple intersections to find a place to park it. The transmission will need to be replaced. Had the transmission dropped in the middle of the busy city, I know it could have caused an accident.
