The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 01V380000 (seat belts:front:buckle assembly). Upon receiving the vehicle, the horn was no longer functioning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was informed that the front drivers side air bag needed to be replaced. I went to the Honda dealer, I asked them to replace the air bag module of my Honda Accord 2000. The air bag of this vehicle is turned on all the time. I showed them copy of the ODI NHTSA campaign id number : 02V080000. They claimed that I have to pay $89 to test the car, and then they will check the VIN number. They requested the letter from Honda in order to proceed. Please advise me.

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact noticed that the engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument control panel. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that there was exhaust gas recirculation and clogging. The manufacturer issued technical service bulletin number 626561 (engine and engine cooling:exhaust system:emission control:gas recirculation valve (egr valve)). The failure exceeded the constraints for the voluntary warranty extension campaign; therefore, the manufacturer would not assist with the repairs. She also noticed that the air bag warning indicator would sporadically illuminate on the instrument control panel, which indicated that the passenger side front air bag was inoperative. On one occasion, a vehicle driving approximately 80 mph crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The front passenger side air bag failed to deploy. The occupant sustained moderate injuries. The manufacturer would not assist. The failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 90,000.

SRS sensor light has been on for about half a year now continuously without apparent reason. Dealer previously replaced the opds unit (about 2 years ago) and prior to that reset it a few times, but now the car's warranty has expired and SRS light is on again. Dealer now wants to charge a $75 inspection fee plus $400-$700 to replace the unit, a unit that mind you was already supposed to have been replaced. Worried air bags will not properly deploy in the event of a wreck and also that our car will not pass annual state dot inspection. With the exceedingly high number of issues with this same problem, hopefully Honda will have to do a recall to fix these units once and for all.

The consumer learned the manufacturer had extended the warranty to 10 years or 150,000 which ever came first, however the consumers vehicle has exceeded the 150,000 mark.

I own a 2000 Honda Accord ex-V6. My SRS light has come on twice now. The first time I had it reset by the dealer, and it cost me $100. They also claimed it was my front impact sensor. This vehicle has not been bumped or had an accident since I have owned it, so I fail to see how that could break. Now, the second time, the SRS light has again come on and has been on my dash for several months. I am fairly certain that I will not have a functional driver's side airbag if ever I am hit. This is a huge safety issue. I have read several similar complaints about this SRS light situation on your site and many others. I believe that this problem warrants a recall, as the dealer is set to charge me close to $400 to replace the sensor and still cannot guarantee this will fix the problem in the long-term. Since this is so prevalent, why is this not a priority"?" this should be a recall or some sort of campaign, because frankly, many of us feel very unsafe. Updated 01/02/08. Updated 12/12/07

I have a 2000 Honda Accord ex-V6 coupe and for about about a week now the SRS light will not go out. I contacted Honda and was told there was not a recall and warranty would not cover after 10 years or 150,000 miles (which ever came first) I have 188,000 on my car so I did some searching on the internet and was stunned to find so many people looking for a solution to get the SRS light off. So if I am in a accident will the airbags deploy? I think someone should find out before a death results from this issue this is a safety hazard and should definitely be looked into. Please do a little research and require Honda to do a recall.

Without any reason whatsoever, SRS light came on and dealer would not even diagnose the problem without a substantial payment. I've read on the web that many Honda users experience this problem around 100K miles. Air bags are federally mandated safety equipment like seatbelts. Seatbelts are covered by life-time warranty and so should be the air bags. The customer should not have to pay for failures of life-saving equipment that is not due to wear and tear or accident.

Airbag malfunction indicator light is on. Creating a critical and dangerous problem that needs to be addressed asap. Since this is a safety related defect and is covered by law as stated by NHTSA on there web site under voq and recall booklet. The airbag malfunction creates a situation in which could cause death and critical injuries to the driver and passenger. I contacted american Honda motor co. They refuse 100% to repair the malfunction. They refused to let me speak to a dept. Supervisor. They also stated that the dept. Supervisor never contacts or speaks to any customer. Stating that this was the way they do business. I spoke to Mr. Todd yamatsuka american Honda motor co. At automobile customer service. I told him more than one time that the airbag malfunction was a critical safety related defect and I also informed him that by refusing to repair the malfunction would be a violation under NHTSA law requirements. He even offered me what can be considered as a bribe, stating that he could get me free spark plugs, dist.cap, and wires. I refused to accept this. In order to end this conversation I ask for the last time if he was going to repair the airbag malfunction he stated no. Ps I do not know what oem stands for please let me know when ever possible.
