Get to my Honda dealer for a routine oil change, then the service manager mentions I need to replace my rear brake pads. What kind or rubbish is this thinking to myself. A brand new car and already paying for Honda's design flaws...Why not acknowledge the problem now rather then wait for it to blow up in their face?

I have a 2008 Honda accord, first there was the problem with the engine noise at first start in the morning and now I have a premature brake wear at 25000 miles, I have a 2004 Honda CRV with 110000 miles and never had to replace the brakes on it not even once, so having problems with my new Honda in the first 18 months makes me think twice about buying a Honda again. I'll be calling corporate office and see what they have to say this time.

I guess that I made it longer than most for the brake wear. Technician told me 98% worn on the back and 5% worn on the front. That's crazy. Replaced the rotors as well. Going to try to send my bill to Honda and see what happens. Called local Honda service dept and they claimed that the brakes should last at least 30k miles and recommended inspection every 15k miles. I hate these kinds of surprises!

Brakes were screeching after 24,000 miles. Had to replace all four brake pads. My Honda dealership said updated brake pads are now being installed because the originals were defective. Seems as though Honda should pay for the updated parts to be installed. I am currently working with my dealership to reimburse this cost. Call American Honda Motors to complain 800-999-1009.

I went in for a routine oil change when I was told that the rear brakes were worn and needed replacing. I've owned a Honda before and I've only had to change the FRONT brakes after about 70k miles. If I have to change my rear brakes every year, then it makes the "no scheduled maintenance" deal crappy. I'll probably unload this car soon and buy from a different company now.

I had to replace my pads on the rear brakes twice in 26000 mi. After being told at the dealer it was normal, I just received a recall leter from Honda. In Canada, they will pay half of the bill of the past repairs (for rear pads and calipers). For the first 3 years after the original purchase, they will service the rear brakes for free. I guess they finally admitted the flaw.

I've had my brakes replace twice in less than two years. 1st time @19942 miles & just recently @38959 miles. The guy said they put a spring something or other & it should help. He tried to blame it on two different drivers of the car. He was an honest guy, at least as much as he could be. Really, really disappointed. Had previously had Chevrolets and bought the Honda because I thought it was a dependable car.

After being a loyal GMC/Chevrolet owners for over 35 years we tried our first foreign car. A Dark Blue 2008 Honda Accord something safe to drive to work and take my 87 year old mother around etc. Our son even bought a silver 2008 Accord one month later. We were sure these cars will last us at least 200,000 miles like our GM cars, vans and trucks have lasted us.

BUT After only 20,000 miles the dealership tells us we have fix the rear brakes. Okay you guys (Honda) pay for it. No we can't do that. EXCUSE ME!? WE PAY FOR YOUR WIMPY REAR BRAKE PADS THAT MOSTLY HAPPEN IN MY Model year?!!!! Yeah Sorry, try the Honda America web site. HUH? YOU HONDA say this is going to happen every 20,000 miles? OH NO NO NO NO ! YOU guys HONDA ARE GOING TO PAY! And now with Toyota's problems you'd better pay up and recall fast! BUMMMMMSSSSS

My first car not from GM in 35 years A dark blue Honda Accord to carry my 87 year old Mom around safely. . And the rear brakes needed replacing after only 20,000 miles! And they Honda tell us that it will happen again after another 20,000 miles. EXCUSE ME!? We have to pay for them not making the rear brakes strong enough on their 2008 models?!!! Let me see 1972 Nova 177,000 miles rear brakes replaced once?

1977 1/2 ton chevy pickup used in business hauling equipment everyday in trailer 178,000 miles rear brakes replaced 2 times? 1986 3/4 ton GMC 295,000 miles pulling trailer and equipment every day replaced once! 1994 3/4 ton GMC 298,000 pulling trailer and equipment everyday rear brakes replaced once! Still going strong! 1995 Chevy Astro van 245,000 brakes replaced 2 or 3 times...1979 Chevy Wagon 150,000 the only reason we bought the honda is they don't make Astro vans any more and GM decided they could care less offer us an incentive to stay loyal to them. Honda you really don't want to end up like Toyota do you? GEEEEZ! To say I'm disappointed is very understated. Next complaint my sons 2008 Honda Accord rear brakes. and it continues.....

I have never had a car that the brakes have went out this soon. I bought this car brand new. I am not hard on the brakes. Hell, I have had several brand new cars before this one and the brakes never needed to be changed in the entire 6 years I had them. This really needs to be looked into to. I love the car, but this is ridiculous.

I had to get my rear brakes replace on my 13 month old Honda Accord Coupe. I am a 1st time Honda owner, and was, and actually still am, amped about my new car. I love my car! I was not aware of the many Honda owners that were having, or have had, the same issue I had. I thought it was odd that I had to get brakes replaced on a car that I had for a little over 1 year! Anyway, I just wanted to log my complaint. I have not had another issue w/ my brakes (front or rear) since, but based on some of the other logs.... we'll see.

My 2008 Honda Accord needs rear brake pads for the second time in 2 years. Last year after 12,500 miles, they needed to be replaced. They told me that is unusual and should not have worn that quickly, so they replaced them at no charge. This year (2010) after putting on 12,300 miles, my rear brake pads need to be replaced again, but this time, they will not replace for free. Obviously there is some type of issue that needs to be addressed. There was a letter sent out to all Honda Accord 2008-2009 owners in Canada letting them know about the rear brake issue and that they are going to replace/repair at no charge. That letter is on the myhonda.ca website.

Annoyed that brakes went out after 23K miles. Ridiculous Honda isn't owning up and offering free replacements until the solve it. Obviously a design or quality issue otherwise they wouldn't have offered half-off brake replacements to appease us but they don't get the inconvience of taking the car to the dealership every year. And how long is their 'half-off' deal going to last? I bet after next year we will all be paying full price for brakes replacements and every year after that for the life of the car...

Have to replace pads and rotors for rear brake. This is a premature wear-out. I think some thing: And/OR VSA(new feature), anti-block brake, Track-Control cause(s) this problem. Honda should pay for this problem.

Took the car in for routine maintenance at the dealer. The service manager called me an hour later and left a message saying the rear brakes were "completely gone" and needed to be replaced and they could do it right now for $375. I saw complaints online and told him not to touch them. I asked if this was a recurring problem with 2008 Accords and he said, "How long do you expect them to last?" I have owned two Accords prior to this one and never replaced the brakes before selling them at 75,000 and 85,000 miles each. He scoffed and said all cars have their brakes replaced every 20,000 miles. I took the car to a trusted repair shop who said he's never seen brakes look like this below 90,000 miles. Replaced by the second shop for $265. Honda has not responded to my complaint.

I have already replaced the rear brakes of my 2008 Honda Accord and was just told again that my brakes need to be replaced. This will be the third set of brakes on this car that is less than three years old. What the best part is the dealer acts like nothing is wrong and this is all normal. Its an obvious collusion going on with Honda and their dealerships. Keep pressing the issue and keep filing complaints and calling Honda. I've filed complaints the the Attorney General of the State of Missouri and the Highway Transportation Department.

24,000 miles and the brakes wore down to the sensor...What is that.? What happened to that great Honda quality? The repair manager at the dealership just shrugged his shoulders and said that was about the average amount of rear brake life for this car. My previous car was a Honda Civic and I never had an issue with the brakes even after 60,000 miles which is when I traded it in for the Accord. Unless Honda acknowledges and addresses this problem, my next car will be a Toyota.
