These brakes as all of the other complaints are really telling the same story, with the HONDA that I have the calipers were also stuck and i had to replace the them as well as the brakes. I had gotten ired of the noise it was making and i called the dealership and was told that BRAKES are not a covered item under my warranty but i explained to them of the mileage on the car and all but the service spokesperson didn't want to hear anything. I even call corporate for some relief and was told the same so i had no chose but to go and handle the repairs myself at a brake service area and it costed me alot for something i thought HONDA would at least offer to pay half of the cost but as we know these manufacturers don't want to spend a penny r dime extra, but they want us to purchase their faulty products. I'm just glad nothing fatal happened to me r my family while driving on those raggedy faulty brakes. I still have my receipt from my repairs if they have a recall on them so that i can recoup some of my cost. I also have the original brakes that was replaced, so if they want to see the evidence i still have them for them. BOOOOOOO for HONDA service ethics on customer satisfaction. And they talk bout AMERICAN built cars, they're no better if you ask me.

i bought my 2008 Honda accord brand new and now my brakes are acting funny. i put fluid in today and the man at the auto parts told me to get my brakes checked soon. now it looks like i will have to battle the dealer now to get new rear brake pads on my car at no cost to me. this is my last Honda i will buy and i will tell everyone about the brakes on these Hondas. I am very mad , this was first ever brand new car and to buy this brake problem. verry sad

I am appalled to find out that I am apparently only one of many victims of the Honda Accord scam. Having driven many models of cars over the past 35 years, I've never, EVER experienced such a betrayal from a supposedly reputable auto-maker. this. My back brakes have worn out prematurely at 25,000 miles in an 18 month old car and the dealer won't cover it under any type of warranty or just as good faith customer service. The service manager just shrugged when I told him I had never heard of a car's brakes wearing out so quickly. From what I've read on this website so far, it appears that I can expect to replace my brakes every 18 months for the life of the car. I regret not choosing a Toyota instead. I've had Toyotas in the past & they've been remarkably reliable cars; I chose a Honda because of their great reputation and because I wanted something a change, but I sincerely wish I'd stayed with Toyota. I doubt that I can sell this Accord;anyone who researches it (as I clearly should have!) won't want to buy it. ARRGH!

Purchased my 3rd Honda Accord February 29, 2008 with 13 miles. I heard noise in the brakes occasionally and had the brakes inspected at the dealership (Proctor's Honda of Tallahassee) and was told the brakes were fine. On January 20th the brakes were making an annoying scraping sound and I called the service center and was told to bring the car in. The front brakes were worn and the back brakes had 20% left. Beacuse of the premature wearing the dealership replaced all 4 brakes at no cost. I did not purchase the extended warranty. I LOVE MY HONDA! and Proctor's Honda of Tallahassee.

I'm so glad to have found this problem....well I'm actually livid with the rear brake problem I faced, but am glad am not the only one, and my experience is EXACTLY the same like many of you.

I'm a great driver and was surprised my rear brakes needed replacement after just 19k. I told the dealer the same thing and just didn't believe him!

Now I see everyone is facing the same problem! This is my first Honda and the reason I bought it was the so-called zero maintenance. But this is just bizzare!

I had a Mercury Cougar..a sports car which you drive rough, and from Mercury, and even there the brakes lasted much longer!

I paid too much money for this vehicle to be dealing with a defect! That's exactly why I did not buy a GM product! If it is not recalled, this will be my last Honda. I used to refer to my car as "My trusty Honda". That nickname has changed to something I shouldn't publicize!

I have a 2008 HOnda Accord EXL and the rear brakes also went at <30,000 miles. Apparently now HOnda will pay for 50% the bill (I'm having mine done today), but it should be paid for 100%. Who ever heard of such crap going on... a known issue that they will not fix!

This was my first Honda and probably my last.

Six months after purchasing the car my front brakes went out at 24,000 miles. I took it to the dealership and they claimed it was due to my driving. I previously drove a '98 Accord for 10 years and never had this problem. They better fix this problem or I will never buy a Honda every again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

I wasn't aware of this problem until it actually happened to me. my car was at 24000 miles and my dealership doesn't repair for free over 20000. I sent a message to Good Morning America telling them about the problem and to do a story on it so Honda would get off their ass to fix the problem. It will cost me $600 a year if they don't, they can have the car back if that's the case. EVERYONE WRITE IN TO GMA TO DO A STORY ON THIS!!

Everyone has the same rant on here as me. My 2008 Honda accord has had two sets of brakes now. opne at 16k and one at 25k. Here is the phone number to Honda to complain. 800-999-1009. option 7. Give them the complaint and keep your receipts. If a recall is issued they will refund the money you have spent on brakes.

I, like the others were surprised with the problem with Hondas 2008 Accord. I had a 1996 Accord and never had any issues with. I had service completed and my mechanic said I need to take it back to the dealer because my rear brakes are just about worn out and I only have around 20,000 miles on the car. Called the dealer and took to my salesman and he said he was not aware of the problem but would check on it for me. I mentioned there are about 700 complaints on the problem on the net!

Waiting to here back for him and starting to look for another vehicle.

I had brought my 2008 Accord to the dealership where I bought the car and they wanted approximately $320 to fix the brakes. Cut rotors and put new pads on. I felt this was ridiculous due to the fact that rear brakes usually last at minimum 50,000 miles. They said that on the 2008 Accords that this was completely normal wear and tear. I have an extended warranty 7 years up to 100,000 miles which obviously wouldn't cover it and the factory warranty was no good, because it is normal wear and tear. I ended up buying the pads at a local auto store and replaced them myself saving $270. But the whole reason I bought a Honda was to save myself from the constant issues. This is an issue and needs to be resolved. They need to come up with a replacement of the calipers in order to handle bigger pads. Not going to happen since they used the same setup on the 2009 models.

1/25/2010 - Just took my 2008 Accord with 21000 miles in for an oil change and tire rotation. The mechanic calls to tell me that the rear brakes are gone. He starts off by saying, "You're not going to believe this..." Because it seems only Honda doesn't know that rear brakes last longer than 20,000 miles. The service manager at Crown Honda in Charlotte is trying to convince me it's no big deal and rear brakes only last to 30k miles! Another load of BS. I had the car into the dealer around 2000 and 6000 miles with squeaky rear brake issues. They blew me off. Also ticks me off that I have to wait until the brakes are nearly metal on metal and having routine maintenance to find this out. It's obvious from the web that this affects pretty much every Accord. A full-service dealer or Honda themselves should have warned their customers out of concern for personal safety. If the mechanic had not warned me, my wife would be running our two children up and down the road in a car with no rear brakes.

Crown Honda here says they have a new bulletin as of 1/21/2009 that Honda will cover $150 to replace pads. Dealer wants $225 to replace pads and resurface rotors (just in case). That leaves me paying $75. Called Honda corporate - we'll see. I did see there are a couple of class action lawsuits.

This is my first, and last, Honda! Like everyone else here, I took my car to the shop after hearing a slight rattling and a high pitched squeaking coming from my rear tire area when reversing. I was told I need my rear brake pads replaced at a cost of $250, I only have 23,000 miles on my car! That is insane! I did some research and found this site and immediately called the shop (a Honda dealership in Barrington, IL) to see if they could offer me any sort of discount, since this is a huge problem with this model. All that did was piss of my service rep. He gave me the number to Honda Consumer Complaints: 800-999-1009. They did nothing. It appears that some people on here were able to get Honda to pay for half of their fees - I'd really like to know who they talked to and what they said, because all I got was a canned response about how "Honda never covers brake pads under warranty, no matter what". I know Honda isn't going to do anything for me about this and that I'll be paying $250 ever year or so for the life of my car to get this problem fixed.

I am pissed. Up until now I've been an advocate of Honda - but not anymore. I got better service when I had a Ford. And if anyone from Honda is reading this, I am very active in lots of social media sites and have a very large audience and I will be very vocal about this issue (and the other issues I'm currently having with my model that I will post under another topic).

Brake pads wore out way too early !

I have heard stories about Honda's and Toyota's not needing brake pads replacement up to 50,000 miles !

This seems to be a fairly well known problem and I am convinced Honda needs to issue a recall or compensate owners who have got the pads replaced. I did not expect this kind of quality control standards from Honda.

I just had to replace the rear brakes on my Accord. i only have 23000 miles on the care and did not expect the problem to be so serious. Both dealership and Goodyear were not surprised at the premature wear on the brakes.. This seems to be very commen with the Accord. This does not say much for their product. Obviously, I did not get this fixed at the dealership. After I gave them an earfull of what I think of Honda, I went to my local Goodyear and got it fixed for about $40 less. Sorry Honda, I think I will have to find a new car.

I dad to have the rear brakes replaced after only 22,000 miles, while is was city driving it was a combination of city streets and highway. Dealer told me that the problem is not uncommon. I was also told that the front brakes were like new. Dealer told me that the Accord begins breaking with the back brakes and then engages the front brakes. Definitely a problem if you breaks are gone at 22,000 miles. If I have to replace again at 44,000 I won't look to purchase a another Honda. Thought these cars were well engineered.

Like many others, I'm reporting that my rear brakes wore out very early. The guys told me the front brakes looked perfect but were really surprised that the rear brakes went out. I bought my old 95 accord at 47k miles and rode it to 120k+ miles without the brakes going out. I've been wanting to trade it in anyway, so maybe this will finally make it happen. I'll think twice about buying another Honda. They really need to recall this with so many complaints.
