Accord EX-L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

I purchased my 2008 Honda Accord in November 2007. Heard brake noise after the first couple of months. After 9 months, and roughly 11,000 miles I took it back into the dealership to find out I needed new back brakes. I paid $150 for new rear brakes. A few months after that, same thing starts to happen again. Noisy brakes! My car is currently at the shop right now and they just told me my back brakes are down to nothing and need to be replaced.........AGAIN. I only have 25,000 miles on my car, and this is the second set of rear brakes! They said they would give me a one time courtesy and replace the brakes for free. Doesn't help because I know I will have noisy brakes again in the next few months and will be back in the service department next year. I don't want this car anymore. It may look pretty, but the brake issue is not something I want to deal with on a yearly basis.

Accord LX 2.4L

First of all I,m a huge Honda fan. I have purchased several Hondas over the years. My rear brakes started on the squeal tabs around 20K. I replaced them my self. They lasted 18K on that set and started to squeal again last week. Took the the Honda to a repair shop not the dealer and the repair shop told me there was a caliper problem and the repair would be $550 for two new calipers and new pads. Called Hugh White Honda of Columbus and the service manager said there was nothing they could do because I had 38K on the car. He went on to explain that the pads were to soft from the factory and that Honda improved the pad. I knew this was false because the cars rear pads were wore uneven from each side. The passenger side was worn down to metal on metal while the drivers side was fine. That indicated to me a caliper problem. I've been very loyal to Honda just wish Honda would step up be loyal to there customers and recall these brake systems.

Accord LS 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,900 miles

I own a 2008 Honda Accord, and at approximately 18,000 miles, the rear brakes started making a grinding noise whenever the car was backed up. I took it to the Honda dealer, and the service rep told me that the rear brakes were worn out and that I had been riding the brake, or driving with the hand brake on. I knew this was a bunch of BS, and demanded that Honda fix the brakes under warranty, which they denied. I was so pissed that I got the car out of the shop and carried it to a private shop and paid for the repairs out of my pocket. I then called back and talked to the Service manager who admitted that the 2008, and 2009 Accords did have a rear brake problem, but that their hands were tied because Honda America would not admit to the problem. I called Honda customer service and received the same song and dance, but was given a case number that they will supposedly use if Honda decides to come clean and admit that there is a problem with this car.

It is obvious that Honda does not intend to admit their problem and we fools who have bought Accords will just have to continue replacing the brakes at 18,000-20,000 miles. This is my second, and last Honda. I will never buy another, and I will use every opportunity to tell others not to buy Honda. I will gladly join the class action if I can find out how.

THE TECH AT THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS NORMAL!!!!!! I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THIS WEBSITE AND I WAS TOLD HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE!! I ADVISED THEM HONDA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THE SUPPLIER OF THEIR BRAKES AND REIMBURSE US FOR THIS COST. TOLD THEM TO CONTACT THEIR CEO AND HE SHOULD PAY UP!

Never have I owned a vehicle in which the rear brakes go out at 22000 miles. Service Manager says that it is a problem that Honda is aware of, however, will not cover under warranty. Went to Meineke!

Absolutely disaster

29000 miles! Same problem as everyone else. Brake noise, took to a dealer, and they told me pads worn.

Cost $200.

Very frustrated. This is my 3rd Honda and I never have this kind of problem.

Start thinking to buy a different brand.

Accord EXL-NAV 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,000 miles

2008 Accord; 4 cyl., EXL-Nav; 23,000 miles. Rear brake pads completely shot on inside. Rotors have grooves throughout. Needed to replace pads and rotors. $400 out the door. On a side note, front brakes still have approx. 80% life left.

Update from Oct 21, 2009: Pics Provided with Receipt.

Update from Oct 21, 2009: Called Honda Customer Service to Complain: 800-999-1009 (prepared to have your VIN #) Customer Service Rep. stated that there aren't any "campaigns" for this situation and it is considered a "wear and tear" item that is not covered under warranty. They gave me a case # and took notes on my complaint and repair costs. I urge everyone with this pre-mature brake wear issue to call this # and make a report. Hopefully we can start a "campaign."

I heard squeaking a few months after I bought my car and brought it back to dealership and they said it was nothing. I kept hearing it but of course thought the dealership thought I was crazy. Well, yesterday my brakes went out and I was like WTF. I have always bought Honda's and NEVER had a problem. I will never buy another Honda again. When I called the Manager at Honda he acted like he never heard of this. Well, after seeing all of the complaints I know he is full of crap. I signed up for the CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT and I think everyone else should do the same thing. They are going to have to fess up to this and fix it.

Accord EX 4cl

Same Issue as everyone else. Squeaking occurred before 20k!!! Went to get some squeak fix because surely the brakes couldn't be worn out already. It's my wife's car, who drives to and from work only 4miles each way. WTF!! I've never in my lifetime of vehicles heard of such non-sense. Sounds like Honda is trying to increase their profit margins on service and parts by making obsolete parts and brake systems. If the dealer doesn't fix...Never buying Honda again.

Accord 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 24,000 miles

The inner rear brake pads wore out at 24000 miles. The front inner/outer and rear outer pads are all fine. Just the rear inner pads. Like many others, I called Honda and I was told that it is a wear and tear issue....not mechanical. However, unless you've got some sort of mechanical problem, the inner and outer pads ought to wear fairly evenly.

I changed the rear pads myself and told the dealership that I would keep my $270.

Given the uneven wear, I believe the problem is with the piston in caliper not fully retracting. The dealer mechanic told me that the pads are just very soft. What a crock.

The same thing with every body else on here had to replace brakes at 23,000 miles and now I have 40,000 miles and they are doing the same thing but the pads are fine - had them checked. The new pads that were put on are Honda brake pads and done by Honda I paid that out of my own pocket.

I am very easy on the brakes , mostly coasting to avoid using them at all. I was shocked to be told at 21000 miles that on my next oil change i would need it. Sure enough the squealing got too loud to be ignored. This is my 4th accord , one of traded at 210000 miles , never had a brake problem. This is a load of garbage for Honda not to cover it.

Just like everyone else, my rear brakes wore out prematurely at around 18K miles. Honda needs to issue a recall on this. I'm not paying for it. This is my third Honda and its leased. Maybe I'll just park it at the Dealership and tell them the lease is up in 2 years and they can look at it everyday until then.
