The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. While driving 10 mph, the contact noticed smoke under the hood of the vehicle. The battery warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle caught on fire under the hood. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. It was unknown if the vehicle was a total loss. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

When I try to start my car, most of the time it won't start. It just clicks. I have to try multiple times and eventually it will start. This is a common problem that Honda should fix. And it is a safety issue because, if it is dark out and your car won't start, then you are a target for a criminal. I am losing my faith in the reliability of Honda's.

On 24 August 2018, several lights came on in the dash, to include the the fcw, ldw, brakes and power steering. I took the vehicle to Honda and was told that my vsa modulator may need to be replaced. They reset it and told me that if the lights come back on, I would definitely need to get it replaced. Needless to say, the lights came back on 2 hours later. I called the dealership and was told they had to order the part, which was $1400 +tax and labor. This is a serious safety issue that needs to be investigated.

Starting from last month, the car sometimes cannot be started when I turned the key to start the car. There was no sound. The engine could not be started. My 2014 Honda Accord has 42,000 miles. Starting a couple months ago, the car would not start randomly. (battery, alternator tested good. No issues with them) I drive a manual transmission, if the car stalls in traffic or on a hill I wouldn't be able to start the car back up. This is extremely dangerous! I have been stranded places because the car won't start. One time it was 100 degrees outside and I couldn't leave to go home from work because it wouldn't start. Since the issue started a couple months ago, it is no much worse. I have to turn the key 15 to 20 times and it finally will start. Sometimes it wont. I have read that many people have issues with these 9th gen Honda Accord starters failing. Mine failed at 42,000 miles" what modern car's starter dies that early"! someone else's starter died at 24,000 miles. Many posts online about the issue. Took the car to the dealership, they wanted $800 to fix the issue. My warranty expired at 36,000 miles. So dangerous, expensive, and frustrating! this problem needs to be fixed by Honda.

My Accord is 4 years old and has about 34,000 miles on it. My starter just began failing (3 months after warranty expired). I was having intermittent starting failure for approximately 2 weeks. I would turn the key and the engine wouldn't do anything, most times I would immediately try again and it would turn on fine. One time it took about 5 tries to get it to turn. After speaking with my mechanic and paying for a replacement starter, I believe that this is a known issue from Honda and they should issue a recall.

'takata recall' recently I purchased a 2014 Honda Accord from a dealership which made this my first car ever. Everything was going right up until 3 months of me having the car. My brakes went out without me knowing because someone from that dealership broke off the little chip that makes the squeaking noise. I took it to the dealer to explain to them what had happen showing them the evidence and they made it seem like I was lying while driving on hwy 16 I ended up having a blowout on the passenger side of my car and messed my front fender up. Two(2)months after that in March I purchased a brand new battery because the battery that came with the car had died out. Prior to that I never knew the alternative was the reason for the battery to constantly die out. On March 15 2018 I went back to the dealership to let them know and even inspect my car when one of the manager came to talk to me he said there was absolutely nothing they could do because my warranty was only 30days. Now not knowing anything about a warranty how am I suppose to know or knew all of these problems were going to happen. When I asked about a manufacturer warranty I was told I didn't have one and they were not going to help me with my car. May 10 2018 my friend found out she had a recall on her starter and went and got another one. Now when I locked up the Honda recalls I seen there were two: One for the battery and the second was for the starter. I contacted the dealership again leaving voicemails after voicemail until I couldn't take it anymore and just went up there. As I walk in I asked to speak to the person who was in a hire position. As we are talking he ask me how long I had the car, how many miles, and the question of all when is your warranty expired. After he found out the warranty was expired there was nothing he could do for me. I pay 400 and haven't had the car for a year yet.

Tried to start my 2014 Honda Accord that has had well maintained maintenance on it and it won't start. Everything works but the car won't start. The steering wheel froze up on me at start up. I turned it off and it worked correctly until the next time. After the third time I read about similar problems others were having and knew that it could freeze up while I was driving so I took it to my dealer March 19 2018. Honda doesn't want to talk to me about it. I will fix it and hope for a recall. It will cost me at least $700.

I've had this for for 2 years now and all of a sudden there are times my car won't start on the 1st key turn. All the lights come on and the battery is still running good. I've had the battery tested 3 times. The vehicle is stationary. I put my key in turn it lights come on it clicks I turn it back turn and the same thing happens. Usually on the the third try it the engine comes on powerful. This happens at least 3 times a week. I read on other forums and a lot of ownwers of the same car are having the exact same issue. They took theirs to the dealer and they had to get their starter replaced. We are wondering how a car this new can already have starter issues? this should not happen when cars are under 100K in miles. Honda needs to have a recall on their poorly made starter. The owners should not have to replace the starter already.

Vehicle will not start at times and there is a clicking sound. In the beginning, it happened maybe twice a month and it would start after a few seconds. It has gotten worse and it's an everyday occurrence, several times a day. One day it would not start at all. I left it for approximately an hour and when I later tried to start it, it started with no hesitation. It is not the battery, because I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem. Everything else in the car works even when the car won't start.
