On the morning of July 26, 2025, while returning home from a grocery shopping trip, my vehicle experienced a sudden and severe loss of power while traveling on an interstate highway with a posted speed limit of 65 mph. Without warning, the car ceased to accelerate and began to decelerate rapidly. I immediately activated my hazard lights and attempted to locate a safe area to stop. Vehicles traveling behind and alongside me were forced to brake abruptly to avoid a collision. Fortunately, no accident occurred, though the situation clearly presented a significant risk of one. After pulling onto the shoulder, I turned the vehicle off and restarted it. It initially appeared to operate normally, allowing me to resume driving. However, within a few minutes, the loss-of-power incident occurred again. I managed to pull over a second time, restart the vehicle, and continue the approximately 10-minute drive home without further incident. Upon taking the car to my mechanic, I was informed that coolant was present in one of the cylinders, indicating a failed head gasket. The mechanic advised that I bring the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership for repair. The Honda service department performed diagnostics and confirmed the head gasket failure. The repair cost was $3,758, which I paid in full. Subsequent research revealed that this appears to be a widespread issue affecting certain Honda models manufactured between 2018 and 2022. I discovered numerous consumer complaints online and learned that a class action lawsuit has been filed regarding this exact defect. Based on my understanding, head gasket failures are uncommon-?"particularly in vehicles with relatively low mileage. My vehicle has approximately 83,000 miles on it. While I am dissatisfied with the substantial financial burden of this repair, my greater concern lies with the serious safety risk posed by the sudden loss of power at highway speeds. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed.

While driving my 2018 Honda Accord, the engine began running roughly and the check engine lights and multiple warning lights came on. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealership for diagnosis. The service department informed me that coolant was leaking into the engine, causing damage to the head gasket and cylinders 2 and 3. They confirmed this issue and recommended either an expensive head gasket/cylinder repair or a full engine replacement. Prior to this failure, I occasionally noticed mild engine hesitation, but no specific warning messages about low coolant or overheating appeared until the check engine light activated. The dealership stated this is not an uncommon issue with this engine. Upon further research, I discovered many other 2018 Accord owners with the same 1.5L turbocharged engine have reported coolant intrusion, cylinder damage, and head gasket failures -?" often affecting cylinders 2 and 3 specifically. This appears to be a design or manufacturing defect in the engine. This type of failure poses a safety risk due to potential engine misfires, power loss, or stalling while driving. The problem was confirmed by a licensed Honda service center, and I believe this issue should be investigated further for potential recall or manufacturer accountability.

Car had a rough start one morning. The engine light came on. All safety features were disabled. I took it to the car dealership that same day (sunset Honda San Luis Obispo California) they got back to me and said the car had head gasket failure. The dealership was the only person to do any meaningful mechanical work ( I did the oil changes) including transmission fluid and coolant changes spark plugs, belt sand valve adjustments etc. car is driven lightly as a daily commuter for work

While attempting to pass a slower vehicle in my 2018 Honda Accord with a 1.5L engine, the suddenly lost power and stalled down to 20 mph while I was alongside the other vehicle. This unexpected power loss put my life and the lives of others at serious life threatening risk. I immediately brought the care to a Honda dealership, where the tech was able to reproduce the issue. The performed a borescope inspection and confirmed that coolant was present inside one of the cylinders, indicating a failed cylinder head gasket. This type of failure should not happen, especially on a vehicle like this. I was the repair would cost $6,500. After researching, I learned that this is a known defect affecting the 1.5L engine and that multiple class action lawsuits have been filed. I also discovered that American Honda is aware of the problem and has instructed dealership service departments to report affected vehicles. In fact, they have even offered gift cards to service advisors who report these cases, but are charging customers for the repairs. That's nonsense. Just do a simple google search and you will discover what I did. During the failure, the check engine light and several other warning lights came on but only the check engine remained on. Since then the car has multiple indicator lights on. Despite multiple attempts to follow-up, the dealership has refused to return my calls. This is a serious life threatening safety concern that deserves immediate investigation. Thank you. Honda has known for years that the 1.5L engines installed in 2018 or newer Honda Accords have issues with oil dilution causing major catastrophic engine failures, head gasket damage, fluids leaking into the cylinders, and costly repairs to cars with less than 86000 miles on them. Honda Corporation needs to address this concern before someone dies when the cars engine fails on the highway. My vehicles engine failed on a major road when I pushed on the gas peddle and had no power due to these concerns. Dealership stated numerous vehicles are coming in with these concerns right now which begs the question that it is not a one off situation but a failure of Honda Corporation.

All lights on head dash are on, all components are not working properly or effected because of this. (Engine light brake light abs light tire light traction control light, sensors out all) while driving vechile reduces power does not operate randomly, have to pull over shut the car off and turn it back on. Has high vibrations lot of shaking, stauling. I have had it looked at with multiple shops and dealer. Everybody is playing a guessing game and can not pin point what exactly it is. Was told it was spark plugs and coils, alternator, fuel injectors. ALL have been repaired, and still have all lights on dash and still facing every problem listed after repairs. Been inspected by manufacturer. Say not been resolved was told if it wasn-??t what was already fixed they don-??t know and that this is very common right now. It first started about a month ago.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway where the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the head gasket, resulting in a misfire in cylinder #3. The contact was informed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened for a goodwill assistance claim, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact was later informed that the goodwill assistance request was denied due to a lack of service records with a Honda dealer. The failure mileage was 74,000. The VIN was not available.

2018 Honda Accord 1.5T EX trim and I had a head gasket completely blown at around 82,600 miles. I, alongside with many many other 1.5T Accord owners, am experiencing this head gasket issue for such a low milage vehicle and it is simply inacceptable and Honda seems to be entirely ignoring this widespread, recurring problem on this engine. Reaching out and file a report in hopes of getting this to Honda's attention so they can address this asap. It has been 7 years since this problem and nothing has changed, which is not okay.

2/24/2025 Safety Recall work performed at Honda Marin; change Fuel Pump per recall. 4/28/2025 I reported vehicle stalling/misfiring, decelerating on its own and all lights keep coming on as a result of Fuel Pump change. Marin Honda performed cleaning of battery cables; technician claims nothing is wrong with the car. [XXX] car stalled at intersection, I went back to Honda Marin and reported vehicle is still having the same previous issues and complained that this is dangerous to have the car automatically decelerated on its own. This time I requested only for a diagnostic from Honda Marin. They spoke to my mom, who was not authorized to approve any work on my car, stated no blown head gaskets but mis-firing on cylinder 3, fixed the issue, passed pressure test(s), no leaks; and car was up to factory specks costs $2812.77 charged to my mom. 6/03/2025 brought car back to Honda Marin, same issues; service dept. road tested for 4 miles and stated the car was working as normal. 6/11/2025 told Honda Marin that the car is stalling and misfiring again; car shut down while on freeway; Honda Marin claimed problem was a punctured hose, charged $10.34 car up to factory specks. 6/12/2025 Brought car back to Honda Marin; still misfiring, stalling and dash lights coming on. Car will not accelerate past 3000rpm.; car shut down while in far left land on the [XXX] going to Marin County. Honda Marin performed leaked down test failed cylinder #4; blown head gasket; verbal quote approximately $5500 to fix. In addition to engine failures I had battery issues as well. Per reddit threads others too are having very similar issues, once the fuel pump is replaced, unexpected additional costs and safety failures often occur. This is a Honda Manufacturing Defect, the original fuel pumps are defective, causing a direct impact on the performance of the engine, unexpected damages which is leading to major financial and safety costs to the consumer.
