Car lost power on freeway, had the car towed to local Honda. After several hours of sitting at dealership and talking to several different employees. One employee comes back to tell me the head gasket was blown and needed repaired. And that this is a common issue he has been seeing in this make/model of car.

1. Component: The engine head gasket and the combustion system (specifically Cylinder 2). Specifics: A leak-down test confirmed a failure in Cylinder 2, leading to coolant intrusion. This was initially masked by a water pump code, but after the water pump was replaced and the code returned, a borescope confirmed "clean" pistons (steam-cleaned by coolant) and tap scarring. Availability: Yes, the vehicle and all diagnostic records are available for inspection. 2. Emergency Maneuvers: On multiple occasions, the car entered "Limp Mode" while driving 70-?"75 mph on the freeway. This caused a sudden, dangerous drop in speed, forcing me to maneuver through high-speed traffic to reach the median/suicide lane. Stranded: The vehicle overheated 5 times in one trip, leaving me vulnerable on the side of a busy freeway. 3. Yes. An independent shop confirmed the failure via a leak-down test, a borescope inspection, and physical analysis of the spark plugs. They confirmed that despite the computer throwing a water pump code, the mechanical failure is the head gasket. 4.Status: It has been inspected by an independent service center. I am now using their findings to pursue a lawsuit/claim against Honda for selling a vehicle with a pre-existing internal engine defect. 5. Timeline: Symptoms began in April 2024 (two months after purchase). Initial Signs: An "Emission System" warning light appeared. The diagnostic code indicated a water pump failure, which was replaced in April. Recurring Symptoms: In November, the car suffered multiple misfires and "Limp Mode." In March, the "Emission System" light and the same water pump code returned, but the shop confirmed the pump was functional and the true cause was the head gasket leak into the cylinders.

Description of Incident: 1. Component/System Failure: The engine cooling system and head gasket failed. A certified shop has confirmed coolant intrusion and a failed leak-down test on Cylinder 2. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. Safety Risk: My safety and the safety of my family and other drivers were put at extreme risk. On March 1, 2026, the vehicle suffered a sudden loss of motive power while traveling at 70 MPH on the freeway. The car dropped to 15 MPH instantly, forcing me to maneuver across active lanes to a narrow shoulder with almost no space. I was nearly hit by high-speed traffic. This has occurred over 8 times since 2023. 3. Confirmation by Service Center: The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center On Site Lube Auto & Tire. They utilized a borescope and leak-down test to verify the internal engine failure. 4. Inspections: The vehicle has been inspected by a certified independent technician. I am in the process of notifying the manufacturer (Honda) of these findings for their inspection and accountability. 5. Warning Lamps & Symptoms: Prior to the total power loss, the vehicle displayed engine temperature warnings and "check engine" lights. These symptoms first appeared approximately 8 months after purchase in 2023 and have progressively worsened, leading to the current engine failure. 6. Additional Notes: This failure is identical to issues cited in active class-action lawsuits regarding Honda's engine defects, affecting both standard and Hybrid models. I am communicating via written report/email for documentation and accessibility purposes.

My vehicle started having issues with misfires approximately 2 years after I bought it in January 2020. I bought it new from the dealership in Salinas California. I took it to Morgan hill Honda for repairs. It-??s had 2 misfires and I took it in for a Fuel pump recall. About 2 weeks later all my lights in my dash come on. I took it in to get looked at and they said it-??s the turbo engine, $3k to fix it. I-??ve had nothing but problems and it-??s like a bandaid of a fix every time. The first time it happened I was merging onto highway [XXX] and it gave out and slowed down to 25MPH. I had to pull over to the shoulder almost caused an accident. I-??ve had 2 readings one from Honda and one from a different mechanic shop. One reads bad fuel injectors from the mechanic shop and the other from the Honda dealership reads bad turbo. All lights on my dash board. I didn-??t have any lights on before my fuel pump was replaced due to that recall and now my dash board looks like Christmas lights.

My car has been sending several warnings including: Brake System: Electric Parking Brake System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Supplemental Restraint System Problem, and Power Steering Reduction Problem. My car is not even 100,000 miles yet. I have had all maintenance done on time and recently had brakes replaced. I have changed my battery and tires twice within the 6 years of owning the car. It seems this is a regular complaint for such low mileage. I was a Toyota person but switched to Honda for their safety performance, and now I am regretting that. I read that this is the Turbo needing to be changed. This part should be recalled if it is failing soon. A person who just bought a car should not be paying $4500 in repairs already. I had the Fuel Pump recall replacement done, and had the brakes done. I am changing the spark plugs and ignition coils next week. Honda needs to do something about this and I am looking to join in the class action suit against them, if they do not correct the issue.

Lights go crazy in dashboard apparently due to constan cylinder misfires, spark plugs changed, same issue, fuel injectors and coils changed, same happened keep it getting fix and the problem persist, making the car dangerous to drive, since it loses power since the car it-??s not able to respond and work as it should be Having engine, steering and brake issues, problem has been confirmed by dealer. It hasn-??t been inspected by manufacturer. The lost of power and acceleration it-??s probably one of the symptoms before all the light go on again. It-??s been several times that this happens and I know for a fact that many people are experiencing this issues due to turbo or head gasket failure. Might get that inspected soon.

In December 2024, all of the lights on my dashboard came on & my car would not accelerate. The code indicated that it was a "Cylinder 2 Misfire." I replaced the ignition coil for cylinder 2 but my car continued to have the same issues. I had all 4 ignition coils replaced and all 4 spark plugs. In March 2025, all of the lights on the dashboard came on again with the car not accelerating properly. I had it looked at again, was told that it was a "Cylinder 2 Misfire" again but all 4 ignition coils were working properly. A spark plug was replaced at that time. Then, in May 2025, the car did the same thing with all of the lights coming and the car would not properly accelerate. The car again read that there was a misfire with "Cylinder 3" but all of the ignition coils worked properly. I had the fuel injectors replaced and another spark plug replaced. The car didn't even make it 24 hours before all the lights came on again. The RPMs in the car now go past "3" but will not accelerate & shift gears. The Honda Dealership has advised me that the head gasket needs replaced. My car has 74,000 miles on it. I had it inspected April 2024 with no head gasket issues & the car was at 64,000 miles approximately. So, in 8 months' time, the head gasket was blown & the car is well under 100,000 miles. I have been told that the engine my car has, 1.5L turbo with Honda has had this issue to the extreme that a class action lawsuit has been filed as Honda refuses to do any time of recall or assist with repairs. I literally had to drive with my 4 ways on to avoid being hit in an intersection due to the inability of my car to accelerate. The NHTSA needs to investigate Honda & determine if they are defrauding consumers by refusing to issue a recall due to this common & dangerous issue. I have owned 7 hours in the 30 years I have had a driver's license & never once had a head gasket issue or any issues to this extreme. I have never replaced a head gasket in any car that I have owned.
