Accord Hybrid 2.0L

Wife was driving 2014 Accord Hybrid, and was making a left turn on to another street when EPS light and exclamation symbol came on...along with no steering. Worst yet as she explained it was like a giant had jerked the steering wheel to the right hard and fast, which she ended up going over the curb and came to a stop.

I was the passenger at the time, and so thought she had made a mistake, or maybe something had gotten jammed into the steering. She turned car off and then after a review of the car I took to the wheel with no problems until a few days later. She was right, and when the steering goes it jerks hard the opposite way. You have pressure when steering, and then it's steering by pure muscle strain and almost impossible to use in slow driving. It's intermittent and it resets when you shut the car off, but you never know when it wants to kick out and tries to kill you. This is about as dangerous as it gets.

Harold Ziegler Honda in Kalamazoo wants $3000 to replace the steering gear rack, and another dealership says the codes have it as the EPS module, and personal mechanic says scanner code comes up as the Torque Sensor, so it sits in my garage.

While in my garage I've borrowed a friends car for work, and ponder how Honda has not been sued for not taking care of this prevalent anomaly. One forum even said that when the steering goes out a backup steering software update was put out in a recall so that some steering stays with the car. Of course my VIN says it was not part of the group. My question to the dealership is why then does not mine not work when the steering takes a shxx???

I'm tired of service people that look at you like you're from outer space. Well guess what Honda? I no longer will ever buy, have family or friends buy one of your junk vehicles. Thanks for nothing!
