A situation in which the dashboard lights show multiple system failures including failures of the rdm, cruise control, brakes and cmbs. This has happened twice, including a second time immediately after the dealer "fixed" the problem. The car has beed stopped but idling in both situation. I drove immediately to the dealership the first time and did not even leave the dealership the second time. An indication of a "brake system failure" is disconcerting even though there seems to be no affect on vehicle performance, other than these safety features being rendered inoperable.

2017 CRV AWD 2 months into owning all lights on dash like brake system engine air bags, tirer, brake. I see spots of oil driveway but oil is always full. Stalls sometimes when taking off. The other day the back wheels locked up causing the SUV to stop in middle of road, and couldnt move forward or backwards. The SUV swag side to side causing backend to slide sisde to side. Making it very hard to keep the SUV on the road. I have called about the dash lights all of them on and they said it needed to be rest. Smell gas inside the SUV. I had a 2006 Honda civic brought it new I never had a problem out of it going 300,000 miles with no problems thats why I chose to get another Honda, but with 2017 Honda CRV has been hell with all the issues and is a safety concern.

Purchased new in March of 2017. Instument cluster has malunctioned X 4 since then. Twice just totally going black while driving. Twice certain alarms are indicated (lkas, acc, cmbs, etc.) these last two required vehicle camera replacment. Entire instument cluster replaced in October of 2017. Braking: This vehicle has applied it's brakes at sudden and the most inapproriate times. July 2017 on a four lane hwy by myself, no other vehicle, brake alarms lit up on instument cluster and car rapidly declerated from 50 to 20 mph before brake alarm and brakes disengaged. When slowing for a traffic light with vehicle in front of me, at approximately 1 1/2 car lengths from vehicle and going approximately 10 - 5 mph, CRV brake alarm lit up with subsequent panic stop braking applied. CRV's acc system brakes the vehicle when approaching another parked or disabled vehicle in the right emergency stop lane or is turning right and is perhaps 20-30 feet down the right hand road. This occurs aw well when acc is engaged and I am in the left lane on the interstate and overtaking a vehicle to my right. The dealer tells me they can find no error codes nor do they have any data of these symptoms from Honda America. Braking does not occur all the time. But when it does it's surprising and scary. It seems to me with all the reports I have read on the NHTSA web site concerning this same problem, perhaps american Honda should take a serious look before someone gets seriously injured or killed.

On Monday, 8-20-18, the collision avoidance system caused the car to slam on it's brakes. There were no other vehicles or pedestrians anywhere near the vehicle. In the past, the brake light on the dash has lit up before with no vehicles around, but this is the first time it has slammed on the brakes. I took it to the dealer who said everything checked out fine, then printed out a bunch of papers for me explaining how the system works, which is basically saying it didn't happen. We are very fortunate that there were no cars behind us. This is a serious issue which needs to be dealt with before someone gets hurt.

My car automatically braked when I approached a metal plate in the road. I was not driving at a high speed and would have easily gone over the plate. I was on a town street, going straight at about 20 mph. If someone was behind me, they would have crashed into me. There was no need for the braking.

Honda sensing issue - when driving in normal conditions, the vehicle would apply brake by itself as if a frontal collision is expected even if there were no other vehicle in-front.

CR-V

  • 10,500 miles
Foward collision avoidance - when driving in normal condition, the vehicle will abruptly apply brake by itself activating the forward collision avoidance system. The "brake" warning comes-up in the driver's dashboard to provide a visual warning. This happens even if there were no vehicle in-front and anticipated frontal collision. This abrupt and random braking can cause a rear-end collision.

Honda sensing activated and slammed on the brakes during regular Suburban driving without anything to prompt it. I was driving about 40 miles an hour down a local road without having a car in front of me. The vehicle slammed on the brakes and sent a warning as if something was impeding the front pathway while moving. There were not any cars in front and the car slammed on the brakes causing my belt to lock unexpectedly and vehicle to slow down dramatically leading to me almost being rear ended.

Honda CRV braking system failurejune 2018 model: CR-V year: 2017 mileage: 5,900 VIN: [xxx] on June 23rd, 2018, while exiting a freeway at about 60mph, I removed my foot from the accelerator and applied normal pressure to the brake pedal, but no braking occurred. I tried pumping the brake pedal, but there was no response. I then used greatly increased pressure on the brake pedal, but with no discernible effect. After about eight seconds of continued extreme pedal pressure, a yellow "braking system" warning light came on, followed by a red "brake" warning light on the instrument cluster. Immediately following the appearance of the warning lights, a loud noise was heard, coming from the wheels, accompanied by a vibration which I interpreted as modulated braking that could be felt through mechanical feedback in the pedal. The car came to a stop just in time, behind traffic that had been waiting at a signal light. Ten seconds after standing at the light, all warning lights extinguished, and the brakes functioned normally thereafter. When the vehicle was taken to the dealership from which it was purchased for warranty repairs, the service representative stated that he was familiar with the problem, had recently encountered an identical case of braking system failure, but that his service department had been unable to find the fault or enact repairs. He declined to examine my vehicle on that basis. Since the dealer service center provided no resolution, I updated the software in my own scanner, connected it to the vehicle, and found that two error codes had been recorded: 1) U0418-68/P esb failure eminent 2) U0416-68/P vsa system malfunction dtc I am continuing to pursue a remedy to the braking system failure that occurred in my vehicle, since it represents an ongoing and unreasonable risk. I parked my car and turned it off to go into a store. When I came out I found that my car had rolled backwards into another car. Fortunately there was no damage to either car, as I assume it occurred at a very low speed. When I renetered the vehicle it was still in the drive gear, which was my error. However, I don't know how the car was able to be turned off completely and locked while not even in park or even neutral. Moreover the car was in the drive gear, which I would presume would mean it would go forward, but it was still able to roll backwards. This is incredibly concerning. I called Honda and was informed there are no recalls and the best they could do was to inform their engineering team for future models. I have had other cars and was not able to turn off the ignition unless the car was in park. Honda should be forced to implement this as well as I cannot think of any reason to keep your car in drive while the engine is completely off.

The anti-collision automatic braking system incorrectly engaged when approaching a flat metal plate in the parking lot of a shopping center. The vehicle was moving at approx. 5-10 mph when it suddenly started beeping, and flashing the "brake" warning alert on the driver's dashboard console. I was driving and, not seeing any people or approaching vehicles or anything else ahead of me, didn't know why the automatic braking was flashing a warning. Before I had a chance to "gently" brake to see what the situation was, suddenly the automatic braking system "violently" engaged, bringing the vehicle to an immediate stop just before the metal plate. Please see the attached photograph of the metal plate that I took several minutes later. The brakes did not engage when going back over the plate in the opposite direction, or when attempting to duplicate the incident. The incident happened on March 25, 2018 at approximately 4:45 pm Arizona time. I called the Honda dealer the next day to report the incident. No service manager was available to speak with me, and the receptionist said that she would leave a message with one of them. I have yet to be called back, 4 weeks later. I want the Honda dealer to read the codes from the onboard computer system(s) to 1) verify that the automatic braking system engaged, and 2) see if there is any supporting data for why the system incorrectly engaged. More importantly, I want to report this incident to the NHTSA. Doing an internet search turned up several other public reports on websites of similar incidents. A false positive for an impending collision was determined by the vehicle's "smart system" algorithms, which then triggered a physical reaction (automatic involuntary braking). Fortunately the vehicle was moving at only 5-10 mph, rather than 45 mph on a city road or 65 mph on a highway.

I purchased a new 2017 Honda CR-V on 1/19/18 and on 1/29/18 the car started beeping and the following error messages appeared while I was driving on city streets: Adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure system problem, and brake system. The brakes felt less responsive and squishy. On 1/29/18 I contacted superstition springs Honda (where I purchased the car) immediately. They updated and reset the radar system but that didn't help. I left my car 2 days so they could replace the radar and the car worked fine until 3/31/18 when again it beeped, the messages appeared again, and the brakes felt less responsive again. I'll take the car back again tomorrow (closed today for easter) but I'm very concerned this will be a continued problem on a car that I've had less than 3 months.
