  • 7,600 miles
Had the first oil changed at 5,658 miles in October, 2018. Mentioned the fuel in oil issue with 1.5 liter turbo engines (per consumer reports) to service rep at annapolis Honda. He claimed to have never heard of it. Checked my oil today (12/21/18, 7,600 miles), oil level is elevated approx. 1/2 inch above the fill line from October with strong gasoline smell in the oil. Honda claims to have a fix for this but will only roll it out in northern tier states in the us. Problem is much more widespread and needs to be implemented nationally. Potential for premature engine failure and fire if not fixed

Engine oil level above fill mark and has strong smell of gas. Typically driving. Cabin temp is below what I am accustomed and engine will not warm-up quickly in cold weather. Consumer reports has a report that seems to match my concerns. Supposedly Honda has a fix, but dealer said no for my VIN.

Ist oil/filter change by dealer at 4K miles all appeared to be normal. 2nd oil/filter change by dealer at 8K miles oil level was excessively high over dipstick max fill mark by 1/2 inch and oil dipstick had intense gasoline smell and oil viscosity was extremely low. Dealer says Honda is investigating an 'oil dilution' issue with this engine type.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. when the contact checked the oil, the dipstick had a fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to goudy Honda (1400 w main St, alhambra, ca 91801, 626-576-1114) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,456. Consumer stated gasoline is in the oil cabin filer. Current miles = 4K. 1= battery went dead several times, was told update was done because issue w/parking brake circuitry. 2= various driver assist warning lights come on intermittently on dash.-issue not identified nor fixed. (ongoing) 3= recently pulled over by police nighttime-no tail lights, though front lights worked- driver of car was not familiar w/car- police fiddled w/ lightswitch got them working told driver to take it to dealer-no ticket issued. 4= noticeable lack of acceleration, fuel odor about vehicle, also sulphur smell after driving, heat does not warm cabin, nor defrost.defog windshield properly, oil black and overfull. Oil changed, issues reoccur within a few driving miles (50-100). One dealer blames the other, Honda says they didn't know of issues, dealer finally confirmed gas in oil. Again-there is only 4K miles on this 'vehicle'. all these issues relate to safety, either to anyone inside the vehicle or others on the road. I have no confidence in driving this (paying more attention to cluster, driving subtleties etc than traffic), and am very upset in paying the payment each month while hearing the 2 dealers blame each other, and while Honda shrugs their shoulders. I am taking it, once again, to the dealer this Saturday for an 'update' to the software-per Honda case mgr naomi xt 87075. Documentation can be provided on request-- I am out of time and patience. There are many more people with these documented issues on this vehicle than are being reported here- (see google and social media). I dread having to drive it Saturday nine miles to the dealer. This is the top selling car in its class-- there is a major problem being driven daily on the highways of the usa. My issues began April 2017 (purchases 3/30/2017) and have been ongoing through Dec 2018. Please help!!

I smell gasoline in the cabin while driving. I'm really concerned because I have my 2 year-old son in the car with me most of the time. That's going to cause some health issues. The oil level shown on the dip stick is always high and has heavily gas smell when dip stick is pulled out of engine.

My 2017 CR-V ex-L has the oil dilution issue. Currently reading 1.5 inches higher than the max fill line on the dipstick. Vehicle smells so bad...like sulfur smell or gas. It is an overpowering smell and makes me nauseous. This can occur after idling for a few minutes, or after driving on a highway for 30 minutes. It is not just a short driving distance issue. Honda has known about this issue for years, and yet continues to sell the vehicle. They have not come up with a fix that works. Taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. After driving this for 2 years with this issue, I can only imagine the amount of damage on my engine. This is a safety issue. Fumes that fill the inside of the vehicle are not healthy or safe. At some point, the oil issue could be a fire hazard or the engine could fail at any moment. Why is Honda not being forced to fix this with a recall and/or buy back these vehicles?

After noticing a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin, I checked the oil level and found the dipstick indicated the oil level was about 1/2-1 quart too high. Since I had the oil change by a dealer about 2500 mile back and I had checked the oil level after the oil change, I found this oil level reading puzzling. Then I smelled the dipstick and notice a strong gasoline odor from the oil. I am now worried about the hazard of gasoline vapor exposure and the wear effects of diluted engine oil. There also may be an increased engine fire hazard.

The car was not in motion. It is winter in Michigan. When checking the oil dipstick the level of oil on the stick was high and smelled strongly of gasoline. Having heard often of this issue with the 2017 turbo CRV, I now understand it to be that gasoline is leaking into my oil and could cause stalling while driving. I hope that Honda will address this issue soon and recall its us CRV's for repair quickly.

We are experiencing the same fuel dilution in the engine oil that many other owners with 2017-18 Cr-vs with the 1.5T engine are experiencing. We live in va. I feel as though I don't need to go into details as this issue is so well known, prompted a ban on sales of the vehicle in china, etc. They keep pushing back the recall and now announced for the first two months, it will only be available in select northern states. A simple search through complaints shows that this problem is not isolated to the northern states, it may be exacerbated by significantly cold weather, but the way they are rolling out a recall is not acceptable. It's unsafe (causes stalling vehicles on the highway and in traffic, which is most definitely a safety concern) and causes premature wear on the engine (a consumer protection issue). NHTSA needs to step up and accelerate enforcement action, e.g. make them accelerate the recall to all of their customers, not just just arbitrary classification and order based on whether or not you live on one side of a state line or the other. It gets cold in va too. The Honda dealer basically told us we're out of luck until the recall, and to keep changing the oil.

While driving my '17 Honda CR-V ex, it suddenly sputtered, started losing power & wouldn't let me accelerate over 10mph. Malfunction indicator started blinking. I was in 4 lanes of traffic with no place to pull over. I put flashers on & cars drove around me. I got to a side St & the manual said if indicator is blinking, it's a misfire in engine's cylinders & to wait for engine to cool down. I sat for 40 mins & made it back home close by & called Honda roadside assistance who towed it to Honda new rochelle. I can't remember being that frightened driving. When bob from Honda nr called he said my car has too much oil, above top of dipstick & it's the fault of the person who changed the oil (on Oct. 30, 5 wks earlier). Complaints listed in 2 10/2018 consumer report articles (below) re '17 Honda CR-V ex state gas is mixing with the oil & oil level sometimes rises above full level on dipstick. Bob said he knew all about the cr articles. Honda charged me $213.99 for diagnostics & to change the oil. He said that was my choice or I could have the car towed somewhere else. My car has approx 4,600 miles on it. My 2 sisters have this same car & we often have children in it. We're petrified now about suddenly losing acceleration. Https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-maintenance/Honda-CR-V-affected-by-engine-trouble/ https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-maintenance/Honda-delays-CR-V-turbo-engine-fix-details-rollout-plans/ the cr articles describe exactly what happened to my car & detail the problem as happening esp. To drivers in cold states who make frequent short trips. That describes me. It said heat in this model can be an issue & my heat/defroster have never worked well. Honda has a serious problem with this SUV, & Honda new rochelle dismissed my concerns about the connection between the cr reports & my recent terrifying drive.

My car is having electrical issues with the Honda sensing. Braking on its own at random times at various rates of speed. The most serious on the highway at speed of about 75 mph. The car shut down and the computer systems had all kinds of codes of system failures. Also now we are having an issue of oil dilution due to gasoline. My oil was changed a few days later still over the full line and fumes of gas evident. Talking with Honda dealership currently where purchased and Honda corporate case was filed. So far they are down playing it in Texas dispite numerous consumer complaints and commonality of issue being reported at the dealership level.
